Chapter 17

662 Words
After preparing and checking on the reports that were sent to me by Miko, I decided to head out and check how the other stuff works on the farm. I need to learn everything as soon as I can so that I will not have problems overseeing my other business. I chose the Wish and Fly farm for some reasons, but I cannot neglect my other hard earned business. I don’t want my employees to suffer at least. I tried to remember what Austin told me about the weather, and there were no signs that it would go bad until late in the afternoon. I also wore the hat that was given to me by one of the staff. I was pretty surprised myself that the farm that I acquired already has a vegetable garden, a rice field, an orchard for mangoes and cacao. What’s even more amazing is the farm has a big chicken coop where over fifty thousand chickens. Not to boast but they are the second biggest supplier of eggs and poultry in the province. How can they manage to do that? I salute all the people who really worked hard, so in return I must do something for them as well. I said hello to the workers as I headed back to the office. Then I saw some of the staff crowding over someone. “Oh, Ray, there you are. I was about to look for you.” Miko said and made a signal telling me to hurry. “Is there something wrong?” Miko scratched his head and raised his hands to apologize. “Sorry, I forgot to tell you about the local shaman visiting today. I was so engrossed with working yesterday and it slipped out of my mind.” “It’s fine. Cynthia told me earlier. She saved your ass, haha.” “Oh my goodness, I was worried that you would be surprised by the shaman’s arrival. Let’s go now.” I headed to where the flock of people were. They were asking for advice from the local shaman. Some were asking for protection, more blessings and good health for their families. As soon as the group of people saw me, they dispersed immediately. I just smiled at them and told them that I could wait after they finish. I can feel the awkward atmosphere so I told Miko to let the shaman go to my office after he finished there. As soon as I entered the office, the chilly air filled the surroundings. I am pretty sure that there was no breeze when I entered the room. It was also a bit hot on the outside already. “Sun, are you in here?” I asked. It was the same feeling that I am having when he appears. There was no response. I looked around to make sure but I was alone. After waiting for almost half an hour, Miko entered together with the shaman. As soon as the shaman saw me, his eyes went wide and hurriedly went to where I was. Miko and I were both startled by what happened. “I-is there something wrong?” I asked. The old man did not respond but just looked at me from head to toe. It feels like he was examining me. Miko was about to pull the old man away from me, but I signaled him not to do so. After a few minutes, the old shaman moved backward and picked up something from his pocket. It was a lucky charm made from dried ginger. I was surprised as he handed me the charm, looking worried. "I can sense that you have disturbed the balance of those who passed and cannot be seen." The old shaman said. I was even more surprised when he said that. Is he referring about Sun? How did he know that I bumped into a lost soul?
