Chapter Four

1578 Words
CAYENNE’S POV: Something weird was going on. I stepped outside the banquet hall with my personal isangoma witch, MORWENNA. Morwenna was a special witch who had divine powers to heal, predict the future, and could easily fight against black magic used by the KALKU (evil witches). She always followed me everywhere I went, especially since I didn’t let Cole leave the pack. The Alpha and Beta couldn’t both be absent from the pack, who then would protect the pack? Morwenna spoke before I could even ask. “The alpha rejected his mate- a big fool to do such, now the mating heat has kicked in.” That explain why he acted nervous and uncomfortable at first, then after introducing a blond she-wolf as his mate and announcing their engagement, he left with her. “So, who’s the lady he announced as his fiancée?” “His mistress and biggest mistake.” Morwenna says with a mocking smile. Her predictions were never wrong. So, if she called him a fool, he definitely was a fool. “That explains the whole engagement thing.” it also explained why she smelt like him when they returned. Since the mating heat was initiated, f*****g another wolf was all he could do for the rest of the night. I felt bad for the poor she-wolf who was rejected. It was one thing to lose a mate, it was another to be unwanted by a mate. “Alpha,” Morwenna called out softly. I turned to see her eyes had gone all-white as it usually did whenever they saw a vision. She had a small smile on her face as she spoke next. “The moon goddess has remembered you tonight. You will meet someone soon. It may be a bit confusing, but don’t refuse what will be offered to you. Fate won’t be so kind next time.” I pause trying to make sense of what she just said. In the end I could only nod in agreement. It would all make sense later anyways, like how it always did. “Come.” She says walking past me. “Where to?” I asked though I went after her. “Where you need to be.” Came her answer. * LILTH’S POV: I laid down on my make shift bed. Staying under the shower had done nothing to ease the heat in me. Instead, it had only made me burn worse. I decided to try and force myself to sleep. I tried keeping my mind from Ace, our mating bond and his rejection but it was a futile attempt. I knew there was no chance in him accepting a weak mate. And even though I had hoped that my mate would accept as I was, I would have rejected him. I wouldn’t want to spend the rest of my life with the man that murdered my mom. Hey, maybe I can leave the pack now. Using the rejection as excuse. I could join the other packs that came as they left tomorrow, beg them to take me in. then I’d say goodbye to this horrible place. I get a little sad at the thought. This place was so horrible. It was all because of that monster! My body burns hotter at the thought of Ace and I curse the mating heat. Just as I managed to suppress the heat and close my eyes, I was jolted awake. There was someone at my door, I realized as the door knob rattled. I sat up, curious. Who could it be? I got my answer a second later. Wood split; table was thrown to the corner. my weak defense ruined; it seemed fate was mocking me. what was more cruel was the person standing at the broken doorway. My heart beat faster as I watch Ace advance to me. He had broken his way into my tiny room. Strangely, the heat didn’t stir up and push me to him like I expected. It was then I noticed something different about him. I know I had a bad sense of smell compared to other wolves but I was better than the average human. Ace smelt different. He smelt like… My eyes widened when I realized that he had mated with Silvera; not just the s*x part, but the whole marking too. I was instantly repulsed and with good reason too. Since Ace had rejected our bond and mated with another werewolf, I was no longer attracted to him. The mating heat only worked on unmated wolves. But at the same time, the mated wolves won’t be attracted to me since they could only ever be attracted to their mates. So why was Ace breaking into my bedroom? And why does he have that heated look in his eyes? Before I could even move or run away, Ace had pressed me down into the make-shift bed, my hands pinned above my head. He was so heavy that I couldn’t move. And then, he leaned down, his breath hot on my neck. For a moment, I just froze. Too shocked to believe what was happening. “Can’t get you off my mind. No matter who I f*ck.” He whispered. I felt a lick on my ear as he spoke next. “I guess I’ll just have to f*ck you out of my system.” The heating bond had me waking up as it made be feel repulsed by being in his arms. “Get off me!!” I scream not caring who heard me. I wasn’t letting this animal r**e me. But the more I struggled, the tighter he held me. I bit into his arm as he started to pull on my clothes. He slapped me hard across the cheek and I black out for a few moments. Tears poured from my eyes as soon as the stars cleared. Why was fate messing with me? why did this have to happen? Was I really that weak that everyone could mess with me? yes, I was weak. I was useless. I couldn’t save my mom. She had died saving me and I could only watch her. I was too weak that even the moon goddess gave me this monster as a mate. Maybe I deserved this. I should accept this…accept everything that was happening since I was too weak to change it. The ripping of fabric brought me back to reality. I stopped struggling and gave in to fate. I turned my face away as I lay calmly on my bed. In the calm of the night, in my dark and tiny room, I was about to be violated. Ace let go of my hands as I quietened down and focused on my body. I felt sick to my stomach, having my upper side exposed to him. I hated the lustful look on his face. At this moment, I wished I could kill him. I turned away from him, too nauseated to want to watch his leud expressions. A silver glint crossed my eyes not too far from my head. My eyes widened as I recognized what it was. It was the sliver pocket knife Racheal had given me before I’d left her tent that day. “I’m not allowed to be with weapons.” I had refused with wide eyes. But instead of taking it away like I expected, she smiled calmly and said: “Trust me, you’ll need it soon.” She had that knowing look on her face and I felt that sudden rush of trust again. I took the knife with me but since I wasn’t allowed to have any weapons, I had kept it under my pillow. Now, it must have slipped out from all that struggle. I didn’t think. I grabbed it and stabbed Ace in the chest just as he reached for my skirt. He had a shocked expression on his face as he fell backwards. “wolfsbane” Racheal had whispered when she’d given me the knife. I hadn’t understood then but now I did. The knife was coated in wolfsbane. Sliver was always their greatest weakness but wolfsbane was their poison. It stopped them from healing and had them comatose in seconds. I didn’t wait. I reached under my pillow and took my mom’s necklace. It was the only valuable possession I owned; any other thing would slow me down. I was leaving this hell. If I stayed any minute more, and others realize what had happened, I would be killed. I wasn’t dying in this s**t hole. I fixed my clothes the best I could and calmly slipped out of the room without so much as a glance at Ace who laid unconscious on the floor. As soon as I stepped out of the room, the mating heat kicked in immediately and I felt hot all over again. Ignoring the rising heat, I maneuvered my way out of the pack house and dashed into the woods, heading for the border. If I could cross it, then I would be safe…or at least have a chance of escape. The problem would be surviving as a rogue in the outside world. Just then, a howl broke through the silence. Following it was a series of drum beat. The village came alive with loud noises and more howls filled the night. My heart slammed hard against my chest as I took off running. They knew… And now they were after me.
