Standing on the roof of the building, she could see for miles around. If it wasn't for the circumstances, this place would be perfect for a picnic, or to sleep under the stars. So many times as a teenager she had wondered about coming up here. She thought she heard the sound of the metal door being opened downstairs, but she knew it was probably a figment of her imagination. There was nobody around as far as the eye could see, even in her elevated position. Nobody was coming. There would be no hero riding in on a white horse, brandishing a sword, ready to defeat her dragon. Then she heard a sound she thought she recognized.
