She came around, blinking away the haze. She wondered if she had hit her head, but then she remembered what had happened.
She had fainted.
'Thomas? Thomas? Please be okay. Please be okay.' She didn't know she was saying the words, it seemed to come from somewhere else, a high-pitched sound that scared her.
Then Sapphire appeared from beside her, she hadn't realized she had been holding her hand.
'I called the police on our way up sweetie. I'm headed downstairs now to meet them.'
She nodded numbly, lower lip wobbling.

'I'm right here.' She heard, and then a cough, a raspy, pained cough.
