Milo’s POV
Alex’s words were encouraging, but it becomes more and more apparent as the cold weather sinks in and the year comes to a close that there was very little truth to them. The little time I spend with Brooke is never alone, and when I watch her from afar, I usually end up being let down. As we approach the two month mark of living in the apartment, I plan ahead to be the one to pay our rent, partly so Brooke doesn’t have to face the landlord and partly so I have the option of punching him.
I don’t, of course. But I want to. I’ll never forget what it felt like to look through that window and see him groping her.
When Thanksgiving rolls around, none of us are in the mood to give thanks, despite the individual successes of Brooke and Jason.
And it turns out to be the first day
