1- College Reunion
Seily's POV
It was only a year after we had graduated, but my classmates along with other school mates conducted a reunion. Some have their own jobs while others have decided to work in a company owned by their respective family.
I, on the other hand, was very busy strolling around, sometimes with my best friend Eolly and sometimes, I'm all by myself. I didn't think about my dad's business, he managed it well and I'm pretty sure that once I took over his company, I would be very busy. So I thought I would enjoy every minute of being free from stress with regards to our company.
Dad had been bagging me about taking over, but I knew I was still too young for that. I already had a bit of knowledge about running it but I'm sure the board would think otherwise.
I didn't want that to happen, so I have to learn more. All everyone knew was I was just playing all the time. Didn't they know that I was seriously learning about the ins and out of dad's business? All members of the board were waiting for dad to retire and thinking of taking over our company.
Yes its ours. Mom and Dad started it and grew it. Especially my dad. After mom passed away, he didn't bother taking another woman for a wife. He spent his time nurturing and taking care of both me and the business. Other than me, he didn't take any pleasurable things or trips for himself. My happiness was his, as well as the company's achievements.
There were among the board members who were greedy and, after the company, I would never allow that to happen no matter what. Thanks to my very best friend Eolly, who was very techie and a genius. She helps our company withstand hacks that may cause problems for us. She knew about business law very well and she taught me everything I needed to know.
“What are you thinking? We came here to have some fun and meet a few of our friends back in college, why are you zoning out now?“ Eolly interrupted me from thinking. I smiled at her and said, “I was just thinking about us. You see, everyone was very happy with what they were doing right now and I couldn't help but think about myself.“ I told her. She was just staring at me waiting for another revelation I was going to tell her.
“Even if they were working for another company and the others were starting from a very low position in their own family businesses, they all look so happy.“ I added.
“You will be starting soon, so you had better enjoy this very moment. You won't be able to do this whenever you want to when the time comes,“ she replied. I nodded at her and said, “Yeah, and I am afraid. I didn't want to fail dad. He worked hard for our company and made it prosperous. I wanted to make it stay that way.“
"You'll do better than him. Not because you're smarter, but because you started it when it was at its peak. You just have to be aware of everything that may cause the company any harm. Of course, I am still going to help you out. Don't forget about that. We will not allow those old hags to get their hands on your company. We will definitely fight them if ever,“ She replied. I smiled at her and felt relieved knowing she was with me.
Eolly was my best friend. I met her when she fought for me with my bullies. She was small and yet it had never been a hindrance to her to fight those that wanted to harm her. She fought well in physical combat and I don't think anyone would win over her when it comes to intelligence. She's a genius for goodness sake. I never saw her study but always got full marks. I tried to beat her, because I myself was smart in my own ways.
I was very studious and everyone thought that I could be summa c*m laude. Well I did. Only because Eolly didn't fight for it. She let me have it. It didn't matter to her whether she was summa or not. She said she was alone and her mom would never appreciate it because she was gone already. I feel sad for her knowing that. But she was a very jolly person. I remember asking her about how her mom would feel if she found out that she gave away the suma to me. She smiled when she said, “I'm sure she knew that I am smarter than you.“ She stuck out her tongue at me. That's how she was, and I was happy having her as my friend. If you think I took the suma for free, you're wrong. I study more than before. That made me barely get a wrong answer in our exams, though she always perfect it. I wanted to get mad at her when she didn't finish our last exam that I thought was for me. What she said relaxed my mind and took away the guilty feeling I was having towards her.
“I was in a hurry, I needed to see this particular person to learn more about hacking. I was at fault. I had to choose between suma and advanced hacking skills and I chose the latter. You don't have to feel guilty for me, it was just a trivial matter to me.“ She explained, I looked at her intently and found out that she was telling the truth. Although she didn't manage to finish the test, I still did my best against the other students who were waiting for her to make at least one mistake, just get ahead of her even by a point.
"I choose what I like to do so I don't have any ill feelings about what has happened and I hope you are too. You deserve that because even if you knew that you wouldn't win over me, you still didn't stop and worked harder than ever and than anyone else. For that, you reap what you sow." she added.
I sighed in relief. “If it's not, I am going to get mad at you. I didn't want you to intentionally give it to me. I would want to have it knowing I did everything I could to get it and not because you gave it to me.“ I warned her.
“Don't worry, I didn't give it to you freely, I really had no choice but to let it go. Another thing, there were others who had advanced in. Should they feel guilty as well?“ She asked me. I smiled at her and hugged her.
"You're crazy, no one advanced other than me, you placed second, remember?" I told her and we laughed.
“Now, we are at a party and intend to loosen up and go crazy. You had better do that as well. We will never know when you will have come to the realization that you already want to manage your family business and we won't be able to have time like this.“ She said and I agree with her. We took our glasses of drinks and gave each other a cheer and drank the liquor in one gulp, bottled up.
We looked around and saw our friends, who were very happy seeing each other again. We laughed together when we saw Justin, our fat classmate who was always a clown in our class. He was leaning on Diane, our class muse. She was very beautiful and we knew how much Justin liked her. I can see that Diane likes him too, but maybe she was ashamed of what people would think of her if they found out that she liked him. “Eolly, Seily, why don't you join us? There's no way we would let you stay on your feet while our feet were wiggling and couldn't walk straight.“ Donnabelle, our class representative told us. Eolly and I laughed at her and went to them.
There were people on the dance floor and Eolly asked me to dance with them as well. I can dance, but not as well as Eolly. She was a really good dancer. I, on the other hand, was good as well, but I knew I didn't like it that much. Our classmates always told me that I was wasting my talent when I never actually used it. They were envious that they should have my talent and put it to good use. I wish you could easily transfer or give away talents like that, I thought.
Eolly and I started grinding our butts' cheeks, butts with each other and happily dancing together when a man approached us. “Hello ladies, you shouldn't party like that, you have to be with us and enjoy our company instead.“ He said and touched Eollys leg, which angered her and gave the man a big punch.
All our classmates couldn't believe what happened. They thought Eolly was very fragile and couldn't hurt a fly. They were ready to help us when one of the staff confronted the man. “Sir, if you are not going to behave yourself, you had better leave this place. We don't allow scoundrels here.“
The man, along with his other companion, left the club with the staff guiding them out, but said something before they left. “There's no way I will let this slide, I am sure to get even.“
