Though the sun has dipped below the trees and businesses lining the main drag of South Market, Virginia, where Emily grew up, it’s still light out, and most likely will be for another hour or so. She’s been on the road for more than an hour, but now that her parents’ home is only minutes away, she wants to delay the inevitable as long as she can.
