EP.1 The Beginning of Revenge
EP.1 The Beginning of Revenge The video call rang intermittently. Marina Mus, a 27-year-old woman, smiled instantly upon seeing the caller ID: 'Mom'. Marina quickly answered her mother's call because she missed her terribly, and more importantly, today was a significant day for her, so it wasn't surprising that her mother called. "Hi, Mom." "Congratulations, my little girl. I'm sorry I couldn't fly to celebrate with you. When you come home, I'll celebrate with you belatedly, dear." Mariam spoke to her youngest daughter. She was very proud of Marina for successfully completing her master's degree from a renowned university in England. "Okay, Mom. You promised, don't forget. Do I look beautiful today?" The sweet-talker asked her mother, showing off the face she had meticulously made up herself. The young woman's German-Thai mixed features were second to none; she could easily pursue a modeling career, but Marina wasn't interested. "Yes, you look beautiful. The most beautiful, my dear. And has the graduation ceremony finished?" Upon hearing her mother's question, Marina proudly showed her mother the freshly acquired certificate. "It's done, Mom. Rena is heading back to her room now. Where are all my brothers?" It was noon in England, so it must have been early evening in Thailand. Marina asked about her three older brothers. The Mus family had four children in total. Martines, the eldest brother, was the successor to their father's mafia syndicate, Marcus. The second brother was Marco, a doctor and owner of the family's hospital. Her family had diverse businesses; since her father was a mafia boss, not all businesses were entirely legitimate. However, once her mother entered her father's life, he built a hospital for her, aiming to help those lacking medical opportunities. Marina's other brother was Martin, the owner of the famous Andara Island, renowned worldwide. All of her brothers were exceptionally handsome; if women saw them, they would surely be scrambling to get their attention. Just thinking about her brothers made her eager to return to Thailand. I miss home so much….. "None of your brothers are home yet, dear. Mom is waiting for Dad to come down for dinner." "Okay, Mom. We'll talk later then. Love you, bye." "Love you too, dear." After hanging up, Marina turned to say goodbye to her friends standing nearby, excusing herself to go home. But before she could put her phone back in her bag, a text message popped up. Charles: Let's have dinner tonight. No refusing! Marina: Is that an invitation or an order? Charles: It's an order. You've refused me many times already. Marina chuckled softly when the other party messaged her so directly. She knew Charles because he had been a guest lecturer for a special class at the university, and it seemed he liked her, as he'd been pursuing her for months. The only problem was, she didn't like him, even if he was handsome. After agreeing, Marina prepared to walk to the bus stop to head back to her room, unaware that someone was watching her from the other side of the street. The Observation On the other side, inside a car, a handsome, sharp-featured man in a black suit stared at the slender figure walking towards the bus stop with a calm gaze. The Spanish mafia boss watched the young woman intently. A certain feeling slowly emerged as his mind suddenly recalled his deceased sister. If Karina were still alive, she would be around the same age. "Are you sure it's her?" Cristian Carsen asked his trusted subordinate, who was sitting in the driver's seat. "Yes, based on what I've investigated, Charles has been pursuing this woman for months. It seems he genuinely likes her." Chalee provided information about the target to his boss, as much as he knew. He had investigated Charles for less than a week and already had all the information. "What's her name again?" Cristian looked away from the woman before asking his subordinate again. There was something about her that intrigued him. It wasn't surprising why Charles had been pursuing her for months. But what was strange was why she was playing hard to get for so long. If Charles wasn't serious, he wouldn't have given her so much attention. This woman must be truly significant to him. "Marina, sir." "Hmm. Tell them to proceed. And investigate this woman's background for me too." "Yes, boss." After speaking, Chalee drove his boss to their destination. The plan he had set was about to unfold, and she... was the unfortunate woman who was about to become a pawn in his scheme. The Unexpected Situation At the bus stop, Marina was waiting for the public bus to return to her room. But suddenly, a dark black van pulled up in front of her. Two men in black suits stepped out, taking long strides. They weren't approaching anyone else; they were coming straight for her. "Who are you?" Marina asked, stepping back. But it seemed those men weren't interested in answering. Suddenly, the first man pressed a small cloth over her nose, causing a burning sensation. "Ow! What are you doing? Let me go!" The slender figure struggled for less than a minute before collapsing. The men had used a tranquilizer on her. There was no way she wouldn't fall unconscious. Fate had brought everything together, for reasons unknown. The Awakening 4 hours later… At Cristian Carsen's private island. Her large, round eyes slowly fluttered open. Marina's head felt heavy. She couldn't tell how long she had been asleep. As soon as her eyes saw the room's ceiling, her last memory immediately flashed in her mind. She had been taken, to an unknown place! Click! The sound of the room door being pushed open revealed a sight before her. A man wearing only a towel walked in, staring at her intently. His strong chest, full of sculpted abs, made Marina's heart race like never before. His face was sharp and handsome, like a famous celebrity, and his physique was perfect. This was not the time to admire him! Marina, you've been taken against your will! "You're awake, then..." When Marina regained her senses, she began to feel wary of him. Was he the one who had taken her? "Who are you? Why are you doing this?!" The tall figure walked to the end of the bed and smirked. Marina didn't understand anything that was happening. She had never met him before. Why was he doing this? "You'll find out who I am soon enough. But first, you should reply to Charles's message and tell him you can't make dinner tonight." Cristian finished speaking and handed her phone to her. He had taken her phone himself, seeing Charles had messaged about dinner tonight. "What do you want? Do you know Charles?" Marina snatched her phone back, a hint of annoyance in her tone. She was starting to get frustrated that he wasn't being straightforward with her. "Hmm, I know someone you're close to. But it's not a good relationship." He shrugged, explaining calmly. He and the other person had been enemies since their fathers' generation, but Charles had played dirty, making his sister fall in love and then abandoning her, leading his sister to end her own life because of a scoundrel like him! "I'm going home!" Marina meant it, not just saying it. She quickly got out of bed, realizing that talking to this stranger today would be pointless. And she had no need to get involved in his issues with Charles. Simply put, what he was saying had nothing to do with her! "Do you think you can just walk out of here?" He grabbed her arm before asking. "Listen, I suggest you get straight to your point. I don't have all day to sit here and talk to you." Marina was quite impatient. Having been spoiled by her three brothers, she disliked waiting for long. Since she wasn't getting an answer from him, she didn't want to wait to hear it. She liked direct people and detested conniving ones! "I dislike the person you're close to. He's the reason my sister is gone." Cristian spoke, his face emotionless, but his voice contained a wealth of hidden feelings. Marina was secretly surprised that he suddenly blurted out such a distressing matter. But she wasn't dating Charles, so this really didn't concern her much. "I'm not dating him, and I'm sorry about your sister. I think if you want to get back at Charles, you should deal with him directly, not abduct me like this." Marina explained to the man with reason. If he would let her go home, she wouldn't press charges and would forgive him, considering he had misunderstood, thinking she was Charles's girlfriend. "Then you're just unlucky that Charles is interested in you. Someone like him shouldn't love anyone and shouldn't receive love from anyone." As he spoke, Cristian unknowingly tightened his grip on her arm. "Ow! You're hurting me! Whatever you do to Charles is your business! I have nothing to do with this. Please send me home!" Marina yanked her arm free from his strong hand. If he still wouldn't listen, she knew she'd lose her temper. "I can't let you go. Even if you're not directly involved, you happen to be the one he cares about. You are his weakness!" Marina looked at the man with a changed expression. Her heart chuckled with amusement. How could this handsome man have such repulsive thoughts, completely contradictory to his appearance? "Evil... You say Charles is bad, but what you're doing is just as bad." Marina's cold voice made Cristian's face sting. He usually didn't feel guilty easily, but with her, it seemed different. "I'm probably not half as bad as him. Reply to his message, or should I do it for you?" Marina clutched her phone tightly. There was no reason for her to follow his orders. "You have no right to control my mind!" "What do you mean? So, I have the right to control your situation right now?" Cristian looked at Marina with a more profound gaze. Marina felt a slight jolt in her heart. He was looking at her with an expression that clearly indicated his determination to control this situation. "Don't give me that disgusting look! I'm not someone you can use to hurt for your absurd revenge." Marina was losing her patience. She had wasted enough time on this nonsense. "Absurd, you say? I think you're mistaken. What I'm doing is making him suffer the most. Because karma isn't real; I'm the one who can make him suffer to death. He has to die, just like my sister. Only then will I be satisfied!" Cristian's eyes transformed into a look of fierce determination. His gaze, demeanor, and words made Marina secretly afraid. But she chose not to show her vulnerability to him. The memories of the day he lost Karina still haunted his thoughts every night. He could never forget that pain. How could he let the person who caused his sister's fate live happily? Never! "Then just walk over and shoot him, and it'll be over. I'm leaving!" She didn't want to converse with a madman like him anymore. Just as Marina was about to turn and leave the room, Cristian seized the opportunity to snatch her phone back. She no longer had the right to use it. "You! Give it back! I'm leaving!" "You can't go anywhere. Look out the window." He nodded for her to look, and Marina's eyes widened. The young woman ran to look clearly out the window. The sea! There was nothing but surrounding ocean. Where exactly was she?! With that realization, Marina was filled with nothing but anger and frustration. She had so many things to sort out after graduation. And how could he just act crazy and abduct her to an island in the middle of nowhere? It was incredibly unfair!
