Chapter Eleven
Samuel was in the barn, harnessing his team of horses when Colby Hart darkened the door. Samuel looked up.
“Mornin’ son,” he greeted the handsome young man.
Colby was a broad shouldered young buck, a rancher’s son, tough, industrious, with a good head on his shoulders and thoroughly smitten with his daughter. Samuel couldn’t have been more pleased, since Johanna seemed to be quite taken with Colby. “Didn’t expect you here at this hour.”
“I have something I need to speak with you about.”
“Ah, shall we go in the house?”
“Is Johanna there?”
“I imagine so.”
“Then here’s just fine.”
Samuel nodded. “You don’t want her part of this, huh?”
“She doesn’t know I’m here, sir.”
