Chapter Twelve
Christian strolled into the old hotel in Cheyenne. This was his first story at his new job—about the renovation of the building. It had been quite a project, and was likely newsworthy, but it wasn’t exactly the kind of reporting he was used to, or looked forward to. But then, too, it was a start.
Lottie had taken to the rugged overland trip as if she were in heaven. She loved camping by streams, cooking over open flames, catching fish and even shooting small game. Christian had the feeling that his reporting days might well be numbered, thinking his wife would end up dragging him into the woods to live.
