Chapter 17

Alpha Darius’ POV

I didn’t want to leave her here alone, but Daniel is going to stay behind. He said she said she’s been here before, but neither one of them knows her other than finding her on the pack lands in a car a few years ago. If she belongs here, then I know the moon goddess is going to make sure she stays. I just hope I can find the rogue king before he tries to get to her again. I don’t know why he feels like she is my Luna. Yes, I feel the mate bond, but she isn’t my Luna from the past. She can't be.

“You sure you don’t want to take her with you?” Daniel asked coming into the office. “I don’t know if she is going to trust me enough to protect her.”

“I don’t think you have anything to worry about. I think she trusts you.” I mused. “But don’t worry if she doesn’t, and she wants to try and run, I am sure you can figure out a way to catch her without hurting her.”

“I don’t want to even think about her wanting to run. I don’t know how I can catch her without hurting her.”

“Well, for one, you don’t have to worry about her running. She already told me she likes this place a lot, so I doubt she is going to run. Just pretend she is the Luna and you have to watch over her and make sure nothing happens.”

“She is your mate, right?”

“Yes, but I have to watch how I do things. She doesn’t know much about us, so I doubt me telling her that she is my mate is going to make this easier for her. We have to move slowly with her since everything that happened to her. I am still worried that she isn’t going to accept me, and I will get the rejection, so don’t try and make things weird for her. Just be there for her, and if she needs things, then do them without question.”

He didn’t have to say anything; I know he is going to protect her. “I have to go, I will be back around nightfall, watch the pack, Daniel and make sure she is comfortable. I know she didn’t sleep all night, so make sure she gets some sleep. If you have to give her some medicine to sleep, if she wants it, don’t trick her.”

“Don’t worry, I won't do anything like that. I know you need her to rest, but if she doesn’t rest, she will sleep tonight, and I will make sure of it.” He said, touching my shoulder. “You'd better watch yourself, you know the rogue king is out there, and he is waiting for the perfect time to try and take her away from me.

I hope my trap works. I am not going to be far; if he wants to take my mate, he is going to find coming to my pack lands bad. He is going to wish he killed himself when I am done with him, even though I am going to keep him alive for a while before I rip him apart.

Walking outside, the snow is starting. I love winter, but we usually get a lot of snow at the first of winter. I just hope there isn’t much this time. I do have to run into town and meet a few people that are going to help me set up my trap. I just hope the rogue king isn’t watching right now. I should take her with me, but the last time I took her into town, there were some issues, and I don’t want that to happen.

“We shouldn’t leave her.” My wolf Xander whined. “I don’t think you are thinking this through.”

“I know you think he is going to attack our pack, but Daniel has things set up. I trust he is going to protect her, and I know you are going to try and get back to her, but we need some help. I need to make sure our friends are aware that that rogue king is back, and that we have a mate again; they need to help protect her.”

“What if he fails? You're really going to lose her all over again.”

I cut the link with him, yeah, I know he is right. I have to protect her, but I can't do it alone. I know going into the city is the best way to do this. I know my friends will be able to send extra guards since the rogue king has been trying to get through a lot of my men have suffered, and my pack is suffering.

When I get into the city, I find a spot to park and walk into the club. It's dead, which is nice.

“Alpha Darius!” a woman greeted me. “What brings you here?”

“Is Deacon and Damien here?”

“They are, but they are with someone at the moment. I guess one of the rogues from your area has been spotted, and they are trying to catch him.” She sighed. “They should be done in a bit, and I will let them know you are here.”

“Thank you,” I said before she wandered up the stairs.

It didn’t take long for her to come back downstairs. “You can head up, they want you part of the meeting.” She said, gesturing towards the stairs.

“Thanks.” I smiled before I walked up the stairs. I could hear them talking when I opened the door.

“Alpha Darius, come in!” Damien said with a smile. “You didn’t have to wait to get invited.”

“Well, your girl downstairs said you were in a meeting, and I didn’t want to be rude. So I hear you have an issue with a rogue, anyone I know?”

“Actually, yes,” Deacon said, coming towards me, with a picture of him. “I know he killed your mate, so I am sure you’ll want him.” He frowned. “I know you want to kill him, and we’re going to let you when we find him.”

“I actually came here to ask you to come to my pack. I have someone who he claims to be my mate; he tortured her for days and tried to take her when we confronted him. I have a feeling he is going to come at her again, but this time I want to catch him, trust me, we’re going to have some fun with him before I kill him.”

“She your mate?”

“I believe so, I am attached to her, but she is a human, I don’t know if she is going to get a wolf, even though somehow I feel like she will get my dead mate's wolf. Don’t ask me how, but I have this feeling about it.”

“Wow, and you think he is going to try and get to her again?” Damien asked.

“Yes, I think so. I won't be able to stay long, but Daniel is protecting her with some of my stronger guards. The rogue has been a pain in the ass and has killed quite a few of my good men.” I sighed. “But if you two are willing to help, we can get this piece of s**t out of our lives.”

“Do you really think he is going to attack knowing we’re there?”

“He isn’t going to know, the two of you are going to come tomorrow, and we’re going to throw a party and act like this is a celebration. I am hoping he is dumb enough to come and try and kill us, or at least my mate.”

“So you’re going to put her in the line of everything?” Damien asked with a c****d brow. “I don’t know how your mate is going to feel about all of this, but I don’t think you should do that.”

“She isn’t going to know, and we’re going to keep her close enough to us. I know my plan is going to work as long as he takes the bait. He has to see we’re having a good time, I think he will attack then. He wants to see me go down, and him crashing our party is something he would do; I’ve known him for long enough.” I sighed. “I know I am risking things, but this is the only way I can get him to come close enough to do anything.”

“Alright, we’ll be there around seven, I’ll have some of my men in the woods in case he runs, and we’ll get him, but we all get a share of torturing him, right?”

“Of course, the more suffering he does before he dies, the better.” I smiled. Even though I want to do this all alone, I don’t mind them doing this. If they actually help me get to him, then I know this is all going to be worth it. “See you guys later, I have a good plan, don’t worry,” I said before leaving.

I don’t know if they doubt this, but I hope they don’t. I hope they come to this little party, and I hope the rogue king comes around. I know he would be risking everything just to get close to Anna again, but this time he won't. He won't even get to smell her if I can help it. I know she is going to have to come outside and show she is there. I just hope she is willing.

I head back to the pack house. I couldn’t wait to see her, even though I am hoping she is sleeping because she didn’t sleep. I stood outside her door for a few hours, hoping that my being near her would comfort her, but it seemed to do nothing, which kind of made me sad. I hope she understands I will do whatever it takes to make this easier for her.
