Kevin turned to look at me with annoyance lurking in his eyes. I saw him stare at me darkly while I did nothing but pout my lips and look down at the floor when he noticed my presence behind him.
"Are you stalking me?" he asked.
I see nothing but annoyance in his eyes while looking at me. This is the first time he looked at me like that. This is the first time that I saw the annoyance in his eyes while looking at me. A while ago, I felt regret and a bit weird because I'm not used to his actions. I never encountered his irritated side, and this reaction in his face, it seems like I just saw it now.
"No, "I replied, causing him to raise his eyebrows in perplexity. "I'm going to the library."
"Exactly where I'm going," he whispered to himself before I felt him approach my side and put his hand across my shoulder, which made me lift my head and turn to him with amusement because of what he did. "I can't ignore you like this, Charmaine. I'm sorry if I decided to ignore you the whole time. "
"I'm sorry," I muttered, which made him smile a bit. "I don't intend to stalk you. I'm just worried about the both of you. "
He sighed heavily and didn't reply to me. Instead, he put his blanket between us and headed to the library, where we were heading. Kevin was a bit serious while we were walking. I didn't even speak because it seemed like he would never answer my questions if I asked about their conversation last week.
Yes, it's been almost two weeks since they began fighting, and it's still unresolved. It seems like they didn't want to reconcile until now, but I'm sure that the day will come when they will also get along if they want to.
Because it seems like they didn't find a way to somehow talk about what happened last week, I planned to just find a way to talk to them.
Macey was with me the whole time. She hadn't even had any idea of how to make them talk to each other. She can't even suggest any ideas to me to somehow ease the fight between the two. Cassie suggested something, but I'm sure that it would never help me. Marcus somehow helped me, but it seems like his goal is different, especially when I'm with my cousin.
He helped me when I was with Cassie, but he ignored me when Cassie was not with me.
When we discussed the plan, he said, "I think that would be great," but when my cousin left us, he left as well.
I turned to look at Macey, who was now grimacing at me. When she saw my look at her, she did nothing but chuckle at me, especially when I asked about his twin brother.
"Is your brother normal?" I asked her, which made her burst into laughter.
When she saw my furrowed face, she coughed fakely before she leaned on my side and whispered the words that I wanted to hear from her.
"Don't you notice?" she asked, before she faced me. "He f*****g likes your cousin. Wherever Cassie goes, he's with her too. "
I grimaced a bit while looking at her. "Does Cassie know about this?"
"Perhaps yes," she says as she leans back in her seat. "Maybe not," she added.
Because of Kevin and Celeste's quarrel, I tried to stay away from them for the mean time. I don't want them to think that I have a bias between them, even though there is nothing. I admit that I missed them so much. I missed the old times with them. I missed their presence beside me. I missed whenever they teased each other. I missed their voices and the way they argued in front of me.
I don't know if I can restore their friendship if neither of them wants to reconcile. Because of their pride, the friendship that has formed between us seems to disappear like a bubble. And the reason behind this bullshit is Celeste's new boyfriend.
Until now, I had no idea of the persona of Celeste's boyfriend. I wanted to ask her about him, but I don’t think it’s the right time for me to open up about that conversation. I don't want to hurt her by asking her boyfriend. If she ever gets around to introducing me to him, I don't want her to think I was plotting something bad for her boyfriend.
On the other hand, I felt these kinds of weird feelings whenever I remembered the way she told us that she was in a relationship. Is it her first time?
What if something bad happens to her?
Because of this thought, I decided to park my bike on the side of the freeway before I decided to call her number using my phone. No one answered my call, so I felt something strange. I tried to call her number several times, but no one answered my call, so I decided to call Kevin, who answered immediately.
"Any problem?" he asked, unemotional. "I'm in the middle of a meeting right now, Charmaine."
"I'm trying to call her, but she didn't answer my phone calls."
"Who?" he asked. "Is there any problem?"
I sighed heavily. "Celeste didn't answer my phone calls, Kevin. I'm afraid that maybe there's something wrong with her. "
"You're just paranoid," he chuckled, which made my lips form a grim line. "Maybe she's with her boyfriend. You knew her. We were traded for her boyfriend, weren't we? "
I sighed heavily before rolling my eyes, even though I knew that he couldn't see the irritation in my eyes. "Can you please put your fight with her aside for the meantime? I'm f*****g serious, Dela Fuentes! "
"I'm serious too, Del Real," he said in a serious tone.
I bite my tongue to somehow stop myself from answering him for now. I don't know if I can stop it, but I'm sure that if he says something bad in my ears, I might throw him some curses and painful phrases that I know.
"I don't want to meddle with her things anymore."
"Kevin!"
He chuckled sarcastically, which made me redden a bit because of my frustration with what he was saying. I don't know if I can convince him with what I'm talking about. Half of my system says that I need to find Celeste, but half of it says that I need to calm myself first to be able to think properly.
"Please, Charmaine," he pleaded, which made me stop. "She can handle herself. You don't need to worry. Call me if something goes wrong. "
I heard him sigh heavily on the other line before he ended my call to him. Instead of thinking about that thing, I decided to ride my bicycle until I got to Celeste's house.
Their house is a bit familiar to me. It looks exactly like what I saw in my dream. That's when I knew that this was their private house. Every so often, Charmaine and Celeste used to have brunch here whenever their parents were out of town. Sometimes, Kevin visits with us, but because of the fight that happened between them, Kevin decided to play it low during his visit to her parents.
I sighed heavily before I decided to park my bicycle in front of their gate before I hit the doorbell I saw on the side. I waited for someone inside to open their gate for my arrival, and when I saw the familiar maid from my dreams, a smile crept on my lips.
"Oh," she said, shocked when she saw me smiling at her. "It's been a long time since you went here."
I chuckled when she mentioned it. "I just want to look for Celeste."
"Ah!" Her smile grew even bigger when I mentioned the person under her care. "Celeste was busy planting their garden. You know... " She neared me to whisper the next words, which made my brows shut.
"Grounded?"
She nodded before she chuckled at my reaction. "She came home late last night, so we expected that."
I said, "Kevin and Celeste had a quarrel two weeks ago," which made her nod. "And because of that, we can't go home and to school at the same time just like the old times."
"Maybe she was with her classmates last night, so..." she replied, while groping for something, and before she opened their gate and let me enter inside. "In order to please her parents, she needs to clean their yard."
"Maybe that's why she can't answer my calls," I conclude as she nods.
I heard her soft curses when we entered the yard. I saw her busy wiping her face with a towel before she continued to kneel on the ground and proceeded to do what she was doing before we arrived. Manang Cora left us when I entered the small nipa hut where her things were scattered everywhere.
"What are you doing here?" Celeste asked without looking at me. Her eyes remained on her hands, which were now covered with mud. "I don't remember inviting you here."
"Just because you broke your friendship with Kevin doesn't mean you'll do the same to me," I hissed, causing her to chuckle and turn to face me. "Pathetic witch!" I muttered.
She threw some mud in my direction, so I did nothing but avoid that thing. Our fun didn't take long when Manang Cora approached the nipa hut where I was and put down the coffee I had requested from her a while ago.
