The house is already dark when I came back. There's only one bulb, that was giving light outside the house. It was the light that came from the little balcony. They were right that I came back here in the house because I don't have a place to stay. I came back because this man doesn't have a place to stay and if ever someone will catch him tomorrow and I don't know what woud happen to him.
I realize that this man beside me is an unknown. He was drown here and it would be safe for him to hide anywhere or it would be safe for me, too.
I still feel feel his heartbeat. There is a heartbeat in his heart. He's still alive. His heart continues to fight even though his pulse has given up.
He has nowhere to stay and I was the only person that saw him or wasn't I? What if someone saw him, too but they did not try to help him? But what if this man is a bad man? What would happen to me?
This man needs help, and imagine yourself, Ashanti if you were on his place do you want to abandon yourself?
But...
But I'm already here. I'm already carrying him. There's no buts, Ashanti. Are you sure that you won't be guilty to not help this man? Would you sleep at peace knowing you did not help this man?
I'm more frustrated while talking to myself.
I stopped while watching my room. It would be easier to caught if I will hide him in my room because Tito's daughter surely just barge into my room. And my eyes darted to the small house.
The dog's house...
That's the only place where Tita Mildred and her daughter won't try to get close. This is the dog house I built for the dogs that Tito Dito was adopted. He adopt this dog for emergency. Once the dog barks its a sign that there's an unknown person around.
Tito Dito and the whole family despite dog and since day one I was the one who's taking care of the dog, and it would be even funnier because the dog barks every time Tito Dito or any of the family went closer to the dog's house.
And that's where I was going. I'm going to let this man stay. There's no time to choose, and this place
is the only safest place for now. He's a tall man, but I think he could fit in if he bent his body surely with force.
It was hard carrying this man because he was so heavy, and I groan every time I move because of the pain I felt from what happened earlier.
The dogs...
When I opened the entrance to the small house, the dogs came closer and moved their tails as they sniffed me. They already knew that it was me. I smile while they were just behave and following me around.
"Shhh...very good babies" I said quietly. They were simply silent as they approached me.
"Very good." I whispered to the dogs when they didn't bark even when they saw the unknown man I was carrying. I place the man beside to the left corner. I have three dogs. It's Macky, Rocky, and Blackey. Precisely, Rocky has a cookies color, Blackey is a black dogs and Macky is a vanilla colored dog. They're were the most genuine and the bestest of my life.
I kissed their heads when I'm looking at them, pouting.
"I'm sorry..." I said faintly. "I didn't even think about you when I wanted to leave; I'd had enough... all I've been thinking about is saving myself..."
The dogs were staring at me. I hug them and we are staring at the lifeless man.
"Please... keep an eye on that man for me," I said quietly. "If anyone comes close to this house, you should bark... or bite them," I joked. "But I already trained you all, and the three evil sisters wouldn't dare to come here."
I walk out quietly. The room is already dimly lit. When I walked to the kitchen to grab a drink of water, I noticed a white t-shirt and shorts hanging around. I grabbed them all. In the meantime, I'll clean his wound. I'm not sure how to save this man, but for the time being, stopping the blood is the greatest option.
My eyes widened for other reasons as I began to remove his shirt. Because he has a lot of abs, my hands were shaking. His body... is... so.. Nevermind.
"Stop the crap, Ashanti," I said quietly to myself.
I clean his stomach of all the blood. But my gaze was drawn to his waist's v-neck. My hands were too little in regard to his figure, and I'm curious if he's an artist or a model. This is the first time I've ever complimented someone because I've never seen somebody with a body like this before.
.
I sighed deeply and closed my eyes. My hands trembled when my hands went to his zipper. I hope he wouldn't wake up yet at this moment.
"I'm not doing anything." I muttered to myself while tugging his jeans down. I'm not doing to do something bad. I breathed successfully after moving his jeans. I never touch his underwear. I just finished putting the shorts on him.
I looked at him in despair.
I'm curious as to what happened to him. If he was shot, was it because someone was trying to kill him or because they assumed he was already dead and threw him in the river? And who knows, maybe someone may come looking for him at any moment? And how can I be sure that whoever is looking for him is a good man? What if... this man is bad? A criminal?
I finished wrapping the man's wound. I went out slowly and silently to the little house. I lock the door. And slowly enter the house, and went to the baggage room and sleep.
I was startled awake by the sound of plates crashing. My eyes widened as I thought the man I'm hiding...
What if....
I quickly leave my room and went outside. I breath calmly when I saw that it just them. Dianne was sitting on the couch, insultingly beaming at me. Cynthia and Abegail, on the other hand, were on the other couch, doing their own make-up. They smirk as they look at me. Tita Mildred seemed unconcerned that I had returned, and perhaps they already expected this.
"Did you take your Tito's shirt and shorts, Ashanti? He'll use them for gambling; it was his fortunate attire."
I couldn't speak. I'm sure they already accuse me. Even though I was the culprit. I closed my eyes when Tito Dito went closer. I open my eyes when I don't feel his hand landed on my face.
Tito Dito gave a warm smile.
"Just do what your Tita says, Ashanti, so they don't hurt you, and...wash the laundry before you go to work," he said. ""Mildred, get me a new t-shirt and shorts; I'm going be early to win early today."
Tita Mildred fixed her gaze on me. She gave me a nasty grin.
"Wash the plates and make the breakfast." She said while walking pass to me. I let out a sigh and walked into the kitchen.
"You can't run away from this life; we saved you; just be grateful that you have somewhere to live," Dianne stated behind me.
After seeing them eating at the table, I walked to my room. Someone was punching my door after a few minutes, and I sighed.
""Ashanti, get out!" Dianne exclaimed. "Do you think I'd let it go? I'm just waiting for my father to leave the house, and don't expect I won't get avenge to you. Get out, or do you want me to kick this door down-
I open the door immediately, and my eyes widened when she dropped hard to the floor. Her face became even more crimson, and she looked at me furiously.
"You truly annoy me and still act naive!" she screamed, her face flushed, and pushed me hard. She grabbed my hair, which I tried to take away from her, but she gripped my hands tightly behind my back.
She pushed me hard me and all I see is the bed in front of me, I close my eyes. When the table's edge hit the side of my eyes, I groaned in pain. I couldn't cry since it would only make things worse. I rose up and glared fiercely at her, but all she did was sneer and stick her tongue out. If I injure her back, I'm certain she'll seek vengeance again and again.
I examine myself in the mirror. I feel sad for myself. Both of my eyes were already bruised and black. My eyes couldn't even open that big. Someone knocks the door again, I walk5ot that door. I opens it and saw Cynthia, tita Mildred's youngest daughter.
"We're going to the basketball court, but Daddy said you should feed the dogs and do the laundry before going to work," she murmured softly, and I stared at her, perplexed at how her tone had changed. "And...please do my Math assignments," she added, smiling.
That's why...
She didn't wait for an answer from me. She just walked away.
I heard the door closed in outside. I get to the table and found that there is no food left. They didn't even leave food for me, even if it was just one egg and a small amount of rice.
I sighed as I considered if it would be wiser to make soup for both us and the dogs.
While walking, I was cautiously looking around. When the dogs smelled that I was approaching them, I heard their voice exiting to see me.
"Shhhh," I hushed quietly to my dogs. I'm just glad that, no matter how little the dog's house was, the man fit his body within it, but I bent his body so that no one could notice that I was hiding him in the dog's house.
I poured the soup into the dog's bowl. After that I saw my dogs startinfto get busy by their breakfast. I went to the man. I placed my hands on his neck and checked his temperature. I'm just thankful he didn't have a fever because it would have been difficult for us.
My eyes widened when I saw him open his eyes. He was looking right at me. My mouth was open. I was stunned. I wanted to yell or shout because he's still alive. My left hand covers my mouth.
I think he's in shock or something since he was staring at me closely. Is he blind or did he see me? I moved my hand from side to side, not too far away from him.
"Are you a-alive now? " I asked, surprised that his eyes were only partly open.
"Where am I?"
I flinched when I heard his deep and powerful voice. It was my first time hearing someone deep and rough voice as he is.
"You're not blind?" I asked. I place my hands infront of them and saw that his following my hands.
I see he's not.
"Should I?" He asked back. "Did you save me? Where did you found me?" He asked, but the tone of his voice. He looks so weak and pale but it was really his voice... powerful.
"How long have you been awake?" I asked, curious.
"Would you just stop asking me back?" he asked, a little irritated and stormy, or was it just his usual tone? I gave him a short smile while placing the cups beside him. He looked at it like it was an alien thingy.
"Eat first, before you ask." I said. He get up but grumbled after hitting his head on the roof. He is really tall, and he forgot that we are not in the big house or room. He is staying in the dogs' house!
I handed the spoon to him. I placed my dish on my lap and gazed at my dogs, who were happily eating. I slowly put the spoon into my mouth, but I gasped when I feel the pain beside my lips.
"What happened to your face?" He asked. I did not even thought that he would ask about my face. I smiled as I glanced at him. He has a bruise that resembles what happened to mine.
"What happened to you as well?" I asked back. Ofcourse who would not ask about him. He was lifeless, and so many bruise in the sea.
He cursed, "Unbelievable."
He just sighed and took the food that I place beside him. I saw him eating a lot. After they finished eating, the dogs approached me. I smiled as I stroked their hair.
"After I go to work, I'll bring you bread," I whispered softly. They would always too cute whenever I caress them. That's their kind of love and attention they want.
I return my gaze to the man. When he looked at me, I smiled. Perhaps he was thinking about how frail I seemed.
The longer I stared at him, the more I realized how handsome he was. He has a long, pointed nose, and his glare makes you feel uneasy. He looks a model I've seen on television or in a magazine.
"I'll leave first," I answered with a smile, but he shifted his gaze to my eyes. "I'll just have to work," I said as I went to get the bowl. "If you want to leave, wait for me. You didn't know much about this place."
After hanging all the washing outdoors, my gaze was drawn to the small house. I'm sure that Tita Mildred and her daughter will not check or go near that little house because they are all afraid of dogs, and if people are looking for that man, no one will believe he is hiding in that dog house. When my eyesight became fuzzy, I closed my eyes. The heat inside my body was palpable.
I open my eyes and feel somewhat better but still fuzzy.
After doing the laundry. I took a bath before heading to work.
