Chapter 16

"A-ano? Tama ba yung narinig ko zy? Gusto mo ko?" Tila hindi makapaniwala niyang tingin sa akin.

I shamefully bowed down my head at bahagyang kinagat ang pang-ibabang labi.

"Nakakahiya" i said under my breath. "You must think na ang easy to get ko no? Na sinasabi ko lang ito dahil naging intimate na tayo sa isa't-isa"

"No. Of course not! I don't think of you that way. It's just that...wow!" Nagulat ako nang hawakan niya ako sa magkabilang balikat. "Are you certain about your feelings zy? Hindi ka nagbibiro?"

"I don't joke things like these kage. Seryoso ako. Gusto nga kita" matapang kong sinalubong ang kaniyang mga mata. "How about you? I-is there any chance that you might feel the same way?"

"Oh zy!...i was just waiting. Finally!" he chuckled

Kumunot ang noo ko.

"What does that mean?"

Ngumiti siya ng malapad. I unknowingly smiled too since ngayon ko lang siya nakitang ganito kung ngumiti sa ilang buwan na magkakilala kami.

He cupped my both jaw then pulled me closer to him, kissing me on my forehead, in the most gentle way i could imagine. Napapikit na lamang ako. When he withdrew his face, we stared at each other's eyes deeply.

"Hindi mo pa sinasagot ang tanong ko. Gusto mo din ba ako o hindi? Dahil kung hindi, maghanap ka ng bagong bride mo!" i warned.

He didn't took me seriously though, he just laughed then strongly pinched me on my right cheek.

"Sadly, I don't zy."

Dahil sa sinabi niya ay bumagsak ang balikat ko at parang may malaki at mabigat na dumagan sa dibdib ko. I secretly chewed on my insides cheek to numb myself from the slight pang of pain on my chest.

"Y-you don't?" It was almost like a whisper.

Umiling siya habang nakangiti. Matalim ko naman siyang tiningnan. How can he smile like that knowing na nasaktan niya ako sa munting salita na binitawan niya?! God! How can i possibly hate someone but like him at the same time?!

"Well then." Tumalikod na ako at aakmang bubuksan ang pintuan ng kaniyang kotse nang bigla-bigla niya na lang akong hinatak paupo. I can feel his harsh breath on my shoulder traveling on my neck, it was warm that it stirs something inside me.

"I don't like you zy"

Napaawang ang mga labi ko.

"Aba't! You thick face..Inulit mo pa talaga ha?! Bwesit ka!" Naiiyak na ako. Bahagya na akong sumisinghot nang marinig ko siyang tumawa. Marahan na hinarap niya ako sa kaniya pero nanatiling nakayuko lang ako.

"I'll be lying to myself if i told you that i like you zy. Because God knows i feel something deeper and more intense than just like"

Natigilan ako. Pero sinandal din agad ang aking noo sa kaniyang malapad na balikat, and there, pumalahaw ako ng iyak. Humagulgol ako ng malakas which made him cuss.

"Bwesit ka! Bwesit ka kaden gage! Bakit mo naman ako pinakaba ng ganon?!" Hagulgol ko.

Pinaharap niya muli ako sa kaniya. He cupped my both cheeks and rubbed my falling tears using his thumb.

"Don't cry, baby please. I didn't mean it that way. I was just testing your reaction." Sumisinghot pa din ako. "Hush now, shh.."

"S-so you like me too? Sigurado ka ba diyan? Baka pinagtitripan mo lang ako?"

"I told you, i feel something much deeper than that. I will tell you the exact words when you feel the same way towards me too. For now...yun na lang muna. You don't need to cry" patahan niya. "This is first time i saw you cry. Hindi ko alam kung anong mararamdaman ko."

I glared at him using my swollen eyes.

"You should feel like a prick since ikaw naman ang nagpaiyak sa akin! And for your information, hindi ito ang unang beses na nakita mo kong umiyak no! The first was during my mother's wake!"

He chuckled. "Right" he caressed my bottom lip. I wanted to harshly bite it but I didn't want to ruin the romantic mood. The inner me laughed at that thought. Gosh! My bipolarity is worsening.

"But either way...I'm still thankful that you decided to confess. Damn! Is this what heaven looks like? It's beautiful." He dreamingly whispered while looking straight at me, it was so unlike him.

Napanguso ako para mapigilan ang kilig.

"It's just a glimpse. You're going to hell for making me cry. Isusumbong kita sa mommy mo!"

He laughed loudly at that.

"My crybaby is also a sumbongera huh?"

"That's what you get! May pa suspense ka pa kasi. Hindi mo bagay!" Pang-aaway ko. I love the feeling that he's giving me. When I'm with him, i get to show the childish side of me. At nakakapagsuplada ako na hindi man lang siya napipikon. How lucky!

"It's official then, you like me, i like you. We can be wed without fearing that our marriage wouldn't work"

He stared at me for such a long time then gave me a smile, showing his agreement. He pulled me for a tight hug. I sighed in contentment. After a long time, i finally felt peace. I silently thanked my mom for giving him to me.

"Good morning daddy!" I greeted enthusiastically.

I kissed his cheeks then took a bite from the pan bread na dinampot ko sa lamesa. I then hummed while waiting for my fried egg. Take note na nasa gilid pa ako ng katulong namin na nagluluto, mukhang nako-concious pa nga siya sa akin.

"Well someone's in the mood." Aniya pagkatapos ng ilang minuto ng pantitig sa akin. "What happened last night that put you in such a mood princess?"

"Oh Daddy, you're so chismoso!" I jokingly rolled my eyes.

"sige na. I just want to know" pamimilit niya. Hindi ko siya pinansin at nilibang ang sarili sa pagkain ng mansanas.

"You're off to work?" Pansin ko na nakapang corporate attire na siya.

He hummed as a yes. Tumango-tango ako.

"Will you be busy?" I asked casually.

"Oo. Actually may meeting kami ng tito alfonso mo ngayon. About sa upcoming merging"

Lumiwanag ang mukha ko at napaayos ng tayo sa counter.

"Anong sabi mo dad? May meeting kayo ng daddy ni kage?" My voice seems pretty excited and curious.

"Yes, why'd you ask?"

I smiled widely. "Is there a possibility that you know...kage..will also be there..sa meeting?"

My dad looked at me confused.

"I'm not sure. Hindi naman sinabi ni alfonso sa akin. Pero sa tingin ko, oo, kasi nga diba? Sa kaniya din ipapahawak ng dad niya. So basically, he would have to roam around his future working space and be familiar on how things work"

"Great! Great." Tango ko. I stared at my side for quite a while then widely smiled when an idea popped up in my head.

"I have an idea."

"And what is that?" Taas kilay niya.

"How about bumisita ako doon. You know..it's been a long time na pumunta ako doon. I think i even forgot how our building looks like" I exaggerated, putting a finger on my chin.

"Princess, nadadaanan mo ang building natin papuntang school" his expression was like the 'meh' emoji. It was hilarious.

"I do? I mean—it's not like natititigan ko iyon ng matagal. Remind you dad that I'm always late sa school kaya hindi ko iyon napagmamasdan ng matagal." Palusot lang yang anak mo eduardo! Kumekerengkeng kasi! The inner me said.

He looked at me questioningly, still not convinced.

"At hindi ka ba nauumay sa mga foods na ini-oorder ni lester para sayo? I think they're all greens since yung ang iniutos ko .Thinking about steaks and pasta doesn't make you salivate?"

"Well, i can do use some lunch"

"Got it dad! I will buy you lunch on my way there. But first! Let me take a shower. Bye dad!" I kissed him again on his cheeks. " See you at 12. Drive safely!" Ani ko at tumakbo na pataas para maligo.

"Good morning ms zephy"

"Good morning ms zeph"

"Magandang umaga ma'am zeph"

I nodded on every employee na nadadaanan ko. I graced the whole building wearing my black lace body hugging dress, high heels and hermes leather bag. Ang mga guards ni kage ay nasa likod ko din nakasunod which made me look like a VIP or the boss of the whole building. Well indeed, i am their boss' daughter.

"Hi lester!" I smiled widely, greeting my dad's secretary.

The thin-looking man jumped from his seat and clumsily shifted his gaze from his computer to me.

"Long time no see. How are you? I see that you're taking good care of dad. You deserve a raise"

"M-ma'am zeph! Nandito ka po! A-ano pong ginagawa n-niyo dito?"

I laughed at his stuttering. He looks like a young kid whom caught his childhood crush's attention. I'm aware of it.

"I'm not allowed now to visit my family's building lester?" I joked.

"H-hindi naman p-po sa ganon ma'am. Nakakagulat lang po kasi matagal ka ding hindi nakabisita dito."

"Okay. I'll take that one as an excuse. By the way, asan si dad?" Luminga-linga ako sa buong floor. The whole floor was occupied only by my dad. Quarter of the space was occupied by lester then the rest is dad's office room.

Tumikhim siya at pumormal ang boses.

"Nasa meeting pa po ma'am. Pwede ka din pong pumasok doon" i chuckled. Dad is going to kill him after this.

"Sure ka? Okay lang?"

"Oo naman po" sabay kamot niya sa kaniyang leeg. "Iinform ko lang po siya ma'am. This way po." He then stopped midway when he saw the four bulky guards behind me. "Ah-eh. S-sino po sila?"

"My guards. Don't worry. They will be staying here" sinenyasan ko sila na maupo na muna doon sa sofa and just like a well-trained security would do, they obliged.

Nakasunod lamang ako sa kaniya. Natataranta niyang binuksan ng bahagya ang pintuan at pinasok ang ulo doon. He then nodded at me as a signal na pwede na akong pumasok.

Nang tuluyan nang makapasok, i was expected to see only dad, tito alfonso and kage. I was shocked to see that in such a huge room, it was occupied by such a large amount of people. Lahat ng mga tao doon ay napabaling ang attensyon sa akin nang pumasok ako.

My mouth slightly opened due to shock and embarrassment pero agad ding nakabawi. I saw dad on the other side of the long table. I lifted my chin up para hindi mahalata ang kahihiyan.

"Gentlemen" i uttered in the most formal way possible. Napatanga sila sa akin pero agad ding tumayo at yumukod na tila natatakot na masita sila ni dad sa hindi pagbigay galang sa akin. I also slightly bowed my head then gestured for them to take their seats.

The whole room went silent na tila nakaistorbo talaga ako. Bahagya pa akong napapakagat ng labi dahil tuwing humahakbang ako ay nage-echo ang tunog ng aking stiletto.

Nang makarating sa gilid ni dad na kung saan ay kaharap din ni kage ay pumipigil lang ng tawa si dad sa pamamagitan ng pag-iling.

"That's what you get for barging in" dad chuckled.

"I did not barge in! Hindi lang sinabi sa akin ni lester na may importanteng meeting palang nagaganap"

"Yeah. Indeed, you just disturbed a very important meeting princess."

Sumimangot lang ako at umupo na sa upuan na hinila ni lester para sa akin. Tiningnan ko si kage sa harapan ko at nakita ko siyang nakatitig ng mataman sa akin. I mouthed a 'hi baby' to him and the side of his lips rose.

"Hi there" i greeted in sweet voice.

"Hi to you too" he said while pulling me by the waist, closer to him. Kinawit ko naman ang aking mga braso sa kaniyang leeg. Dinampian niya ako ng halik sa aking ilong papunta sa aking mga labi.

"I didn't know you were coming" siya.

"And neither do i" ngumuso ako. "Hindi mo sinabi sa akin na may schedule pala kayo ni dad. You didn't even texted me last night"

"My battery was dead. Remind you that you used my phone on our way home. You connected it to our car' stereo for music kaya na lowbatt"

Napangiti ako. "Did i heard you right? Our..car? Hindi sayo kundi atin?"

He hummed. "Yes, our car. You will be my wife soon so basically, every property, money that i own will also be yours"

"Great"

I squealed loudly when he suddenly grabbed me by the waist, inangat niya ako at pinaupo sa mahabang table na gawa sa kahoy na kung saan ay pinagdausan ng meeting kanina.

"Your smile is foreboding. What is running in that pretty head of yours?"

"Wala" tawa ko. "I was just thinking of some possible ways on how to spend all your money since sabi mo ay lahat ng 'yon ay akin din"

What I've said made him laugh hard. He then turned to me smiling at hinawi ang buhok na nakatabon sa aking pisngi.

"Stop that. Baka may makakita sa atin" sinubukan ko siyang iharap sa akin sa pamamagitan ng pagsapo ng kaniyang magkabilang pisngi but he wouldn't budge. "Baby, stop! Nakikiliti ako!"

Mas lalo niya lang akong inasar at diniinan pa ang paghawak sa aking hita para hindi ako makababa. Bumaba ang halik niya sa aking collarbone, he gently sucked the skin on it bago niya sinapo ang aking kaliwang dibdib.

"Sino bang may sabi na respetuhin mo ko?"

"I do, i respect you. Naalala ko yung sinabi mo noon sa bar. That it only depends on the man if he chooses to respect his girl or not." He stared at me closely. "And you're my girl zy. I respect you"

Napangiti ako. I stared at him admiringly. He is certainly oblivious na dahil sa sinabi niya ay mas lalo lang siya naging hot sa paningin ko.

"Come here" i gestured for him to come near. Natawa ako nang umiling siya.

"You're teasing me"

"I'm not. I swear! Come on, i don't bite"

"That's supposed to be my line." He laughed at lumapit na nga. Pinugpog ko siya ng halik sa mga labi at napatawa na lang ako sa reaksyon niya. He seems to not expect that.

"Thank you..for resisting your horniness" mahinang tumawa ako nang matalim niya akong tiningnan. "But seriously baby...you don't need to re—"

"Zy..." he warned.

"Paninindigan mo talaga yan kage? Seryoso na ba yan? Ayaw mo nito?" I decided to tease him more by slowly laying myself down on the table, both elbows were supporting my weight. As a flash of lightning, i felt his strong hands guiding me to decently sit myself down. I secretly laughed.

Hmm..talagang sineryoso niya.

"Zephyrine, seriously! stop. It's not funny" he said in a tone like he wasn't standing there to bluff.

"Matatakot na ba ako niyan?" Ngumuso ako nang makitang seryoso talaga siya. "Okay fine! One last kiss at magla lunch na tayo. I brought foods" taas baba ko ng aking kilay.

"Tell them we're coming. You can take your leave now" kage said in a hard and formal tone.

"O-okay p-po" natataranta at nasisindak na umalis naman yung isa.

"What was that?" He turned to me.

"What was what?"

"The way he speaks and talks to you, mukhang gusto ka niya. Kanina ko pa yan napapansin simula nung pumasok kayo at pinaghila ka niya ng upuan.

"Are you jealous?" I asked on the tone familiar to him then crossed my arms jokingly.

"So what if i am? Anong gagawin mo?"

Ngumisi ako and opened my arms widely, like a baby wanting to get carried by her mom. "Come here"

Unlike kanina ay hindi siya gumalawa sa kinatatayuan.

"Never again."

"What?! Magpapababa ako. I can't with these heels!" Irap ko. "You don't have to be jealous. I'm yours as i am to you. I never felt this feeling towards an opposite s*x before kage, only to you"
