Chapter 50

He held the door for me and I look around. It seems like a safe place.

“Table for two please,” Sabi ni Gio sa waiter.

The waiter immediately attended to our request and let us follow him . Tinitignan ko ang paligid kung may nakatingin ba samin. If someone’s looking at us they probably know me and they might ask questions.

So far wala naman. Dumeretso na ako ng tingin at pinaupo ako ni Gio.

“This restaurant isn’t that famous yet, but their foods are really food. Especially the sea foods.”

“I see. Kaya pala kaunti lang din ang tao.”

“Yes and it’s a bit pricey.” Inabot niya sa’kin ang menu at tinignan ko ‘yun.

Holy cow! That’s expensive, but not something that I wouldn’t spend my money on. Ang sabi ni mommy, wag na wag titipirin ang pera sa pagkain. Plus, I can afford this.

Not to brag but I have a lot of money. This is nothing to me pero syempre hindi ko sasabihin ‘yun kay Gio. Uunahan ko nalang siya sa pag bigay ng card mamaya.

He helped me a lot and I want to at least treat him a good meal. Lahat ng lunch namin before siya ang nagbabayad and even earlier.

“It is.” Sabi ko at binigay na sa waiter ang order ko. Kaya naman pala wala din gaano pumupunta dito.

Only rich people could afford the food, but then let’s see if the food is good. If it is, maybe I could recommend them to some of my business partners.

“I just noticed, you know a lot of good restaurants. Lagi ka ba kumakain sa mga restaurants?” Sabi ko.

“As you know, I don’t really know how to cook. I live alone so…” I see. That’s why I it’s like he never eats at home or someone waiting for him like his parents or siblings.

“You?” He asked back.

“A-Ah… you know I usually eat dinner at home. We have a cook in the house.” Sabi ko.

Binawasan ko din nga ang mga katulong sa bahay dahil sobrang dami din pala noon. I just want everything to be small and organized. The food arrived and the plating is one hundred percent for me. I hope it taste good

I looked at Gio as I took my first bite. He chuckled and raised both of his eyebrows,

“So?”

“Mmm. That’s really good.” I said with my mouth full of deliciousness.

Hindi ko alam pero parang sa pagkain talaga kami magkakasundo. He chuckled and so did I. Tumunog ang kanyang cellphone at tinignan niya ako.

“You can take it.” Sabi ko. He nodded and answered the call.

“Hello?”

“Party tonight bro? You forgot?” Mahina ‘yun pero narinig ko pa din. Agad siyang tumingin pabalik sa’kin.

“Don’t worry, I’ll come later bro, I’m just having dinner outside.” Sabi nito.

“But you told us you’re gonna have dinner here-” Agad na pinatay Gio ang kanyang cellphone.

“Am I interrupting something?” I said and chuckled.

“No, of course not. It’s my choice to have dinner with you.” Sabi nito. Hindi rin naman kami magtatagal dito. It’s almost eight in the evening. But I feel like I have to rush while eating.

“Can I come?” “You mean…?”

“Yup. At the party? Can I?” Sabi ko. Wala din naman akong balak umuwi agad. I don’t even know what I should do after this dinner.

“O-Of course, but are you sure?”

“Yes. Why? Mukha ba akong hindi seryoso?” Tawa ko.

We agreed na sasama ako sakanya pagkatapos ng dinner namin. I hope I won’t get out of place since I think he has a lot of friends.

“Can I go home quickly to change? I just feel really sticky.” Sabi ko.

Kapag ganitong oras kasi nasa bahay na ako at nakabihis na. Pumayag naman siya at pumunta muna kami sa bahay pagkatapos kumain ng dinner.

Pinapasok ko siya dahil wala naman si Brion dito.

“I’ll be quick.” Sabi ko.

“Take your time.” He said.

Umakyat na ako at agad na dumeretso sa banyo. I’m just gonna have a quick half bath and then change. I’ll put a little bit of make-up too so I would look presentable.

I changed faster than usual since I can’t have someone wait for me for too long. Naiisip ko na kapag ako nasa sitwasyon nila, maiinip talaga ako.

I walk downstairs and I saw him looking at the picture frames. Oh s**t. I forgot Brion has a picture there and also the both of us.

“You have a little brother?” He asked. “A-Ah…. no. That’s my… my… aunt’s baby. We’re kinda close.” Sabi ko. s**t.

I hate to say those words. I want to spit out that it’s my son, but I just couldn’t. Hindi naman sa hindi ko pinagkakatiwalaan si Gio. I just want to keep it a secret for now.

Hindi ko pa siya masyado kilala and trusting someone is not that easy for me. “You look a bit like him,”

“M-Maybe it’s the genes. Halos lahat samin ay may resemblance sa isa’t isa.” Sabi ko.

“I see. He looks cute.”

“Yeah he is and super jolly too.” Sabi ko at tinignan ang picture frame. Ngumiti ako.

Tumingin ako pabalik kay Gio at nawala ang ngiti ko dahil nakatingin din siya sa’kin ngayon.

“Tara na?” Sabi ko.

Tumango siya habang di pa rin inaalis ang mata sa picture. Nung nagsimula na siya maglakad ay inalis niya na ang tingin niya doon, sa wakas.

”Close friends party or….”

”I know few people that would be coming, pero I’m sure it’s a big party.”

That would be great. Pag kasi close friends lang naisip ko ay baka ma-out of place ako.

Nakarating kami sa party and the house is big. I could say that this is bigger than my house. Ayaw din kasi ni mommy ng sobrang laki na bahay dahil dalawa lang naman kami. House is too big for two persons already.

“Gio! My man!”

May lumapit sa’min na lalaki at niyakap si Gio. Tumawa naman si Gio at niyakap siya pabalik sabay tapik sa likod.
