Chapter 28

Wala din naman akong gaano kailangan doon.

“Where are we gonna eat?” I asked.

“Ano bang gusto mo?”

Uhm… I don’t really have favorite foods. I eat whatever is served or there But last night, I saw a post on facelook. A samgyupsal with over looking view.

“Samgyup? You know the one with the overlooking view?” I asked.

“Ahh… yes. I’ve seen that. Let’s go there then.” Sabi niya.

Tumango ako. Pinagbuksan niya ako ng pinto at pumasok naman agad ako. I’m not really hungry, but I’m excited.

“What happened to Abigail and others?” Those are the people who got arrested for frauded me.

“Someone already paid for their bail. Maybe their families, but they will have a hard time applying to work again. I made sure of it.”

“That’s good. Thank you, Gio.”

Mabuti na rin ‘yon at baka gawin pa nila sa iba. Para madala sila sa ginawa nila. The money they got was no joke. I wasn’t able to got it back. Si Gio ang nagasikaso ng lahat dahil stressed na din ako noon.

Hindi ko rin alam ang gagawin ko and it was like months before I started working, tapos ganun kaagad ang nangyari.

“They deserve it. It’s not like we just lost a few pennies.” Sabi nito. Exactly.

Nakarating na kami at pinagbuksan niya ako ng pintuan. This is the first time I got out of the office with Gio.

“Unli ‘to ha? Baka naman isang rice ka lang.” Sabi nito. “Hindi mo alam kung gaano kadami kaya ‘ko.” I chuckled.

He smiled and scoffed. It’s the first time I saw him smiling. He looks better with a smile on his face.

I just realized that Gio is a handsome guy. I wasn’t really interested with him before nor look at his face clearly.

“Is there something wrong with my face?” He asked. Agad akong umiwas ng tingin at umiling.

“W-Wala.”

A man came to us and ask what we want to avail. Siya na ang pinaorder ko sa lahat. Kahit ano naman ay kinakain ko. I looked at the view of the city outside.

The temperature is just enough. Not too cold and not too hot.

“Can we go to the mall after this? I just need to buy something.” I said.

I ran out of shampoo. I don’t buy bulk orders since I’m afraid it will expired. Plus, the grocery stores and malls are just near.

“Yeah, sure,”

“Do you still feel something?” He asked.

“No. I’m good now. The medicine I took was effective. I smiled.

Hindi nagtagal naglagay na ng side dishes sa table namin at yung meat na lulutuin. Gio started to put the meat on the grill.

The smell here is really good. Panigurado after namin dito amoy inihaw na kami.

After we eat, we went to the mall to buy the shampoo that I needed. Napadaan kami sa baby section at muntik na akong dumeretso doon pero buti at bigla ako natauhan.

Magtataka si Gio kung bakit ako pupunta doon kung sakali. Pag kasi may nakikita akong pang baby na gamit, gusto ko talagang bilhin ‘yon para kay Brion.

Pagtapos sa mall, we got back to the building. We didn’t talk that much. Kung mag kwekwentuhan man kami ay about pa rin sa trabaho.

The meal was absolutely amazing. Punong puno na yung tiyan ko dahil doon. Nagulat din si Gio na kaya kong kumain ng ganun kadami. Nagtatawanan kaming pumasok ng building at ramdam ko na yung mga titig ng mga marites.

I pouted. Agad akong tumahimik at nakaramdam din naman kaagad si Gio.

“I think we should do it again,”

Biglang sabi sakin ni Gio nung nasa loob na kami ng office.

“You mean?”

“Lunch.”

“Sure. Why not?” I said.

He’s my secretary and having lunch with him is fine. At gusto ko rin lumalabas kapag kumakain.

“I like you.”

He said without hesitation.

Wait… what? I looked at him. Is he really confessing to his boss right now?

Tumingin ako sa paligid. I’m the only one here so he’s really confessing to me?

“H-Huh?”

“I like you, Katherine.”

He doesn’t use honorifics to me like Miss or Ma’am, but I allowed him to do that since I want to feel like we’re friends. Like he’s just my friend and not an employee.

I’m much comfortable with that.

“Why? I mean… I’m sorry I just can’t process it.”

Hindi lang ako makapaniwala. He’s cold to me and he’s helpful with regards to work only and not for my own benefit.

He didn’t give me any signs too. I’ve been with guys and I know when they like me, pero iba itong kay Gio. Hindi ko narealize na gusto niya pala ako.

Maybe I was just too insensitive and I focus on different things?

“It’s fine. I just want to tell you that ‘cause I can’t hide it anymore. Kung ayaw mo naman ay ayos lang. I just want to let that out.”

Hindi ako nagsalita. Hindi naman sa ayaw pero hindi din sa gusto. I don’t know how should I feel.

It’s been a long time since someone confessed to me again. Nung naging kami kasi ni Louis, tumigil na yung mga lalaki na lumapit sa’kin. When we broke up, hindi rin ako gaano lumalabas ng bahay non o nakikipagusap sa ibang lalake.

My only focus was with my sick mom and the baby in my belly which is Brion. Hindi na din nagsalita si Gio. Naglakad siya pabalik sa table niya na parang wala lang siyang sinabi sa’kin. I need to calm down. But how could I?

Gio is a nice guy, pero hindi ko alam if I treat him as a man. I mean a man whom I gonna be romatically attracted to.

Tinignan ko si Gio at hindi na siya nakatingin sa’kin. He’s looking at the papers on his tables acting busy. I cleared my throat and walk towards my table. Binalik ko ang wallet at phone ko sa bag.

Hindi niya ako pinabayad kanina ng lunch. He paid everything including the shampoo that I bought.
