"I was just wondering kasi and I am also curious sayo," mapaglarong usal niya.

I can't believe this man, umiling na lang ako at tumayo. Napakunot naman ang noo niya habang nakatingala sa akin.

"Where are you going?" nagtatakang tanong niya.

"I don't have time for your flirty intentions, kung naghahanap ka ng kalandian please lang. Wag dito at wag ako." seryoso kong sagot at akmang aalis na ako.

Narinig ko naman ang mahinang pagtawa niya na siyang ikinalingon ko. "Masyado namang seryoso ang Colonel ng Army,"

"Kung hindi ako magseseryoso, sa tingin mo ba buhay pa ako sa propresyong ito?" walang emosyon kong sambit.

He shrugged. "But I am alive."

This man is unbelievable, paano niya narating ang pagiging Lieutenant General kung ganito siya ka careless?

"You know what, we will just cooperate with you in rescuing your and our comrades just wait for our letter and plans kung nakabuo na kami." seryoso kong usal at bubuksan na dapat ang pintuan palabas.

"You are intersting Sydney," mapaglarong sambit niya.

Napalingon ako at nakita ko na nakatayo na pala siya at nakapamulsang nakatitig sa akin, bakas sa ngiti niya na iba ang nasa isip niya. "You're interesting to the point na gusto kong lumipat sa Army, will you accept me under your troop?"

Natawa na lang ako ng pagak dahil sa kahibangan niya, kung hindi ba naman sira ang tuktok ng taong ito. "You are a crazy bastard,"

"Where's the lie? well anyways, since wala ka naman ata sa mood makipag-usap. I will send some 'FORMAL' letters in your good office inorder for us to communicate with each other." nakangiti niyang usal.

Finally, nagising na rin siya sa kahibangan niya. "I will be expecting that 'FORMAL' letter is connected to our joint mission. If wala ka nang sasabihing iba, aalis na ako."

I need to talk to other officers because we need to carry out this plan as soon as possible, hindi kami pwedeng maging pabaya. Tila nabuhayan ang loob ko dahil sa pag-asang buhay pa si Mommy.

Pagkapasok ko sa Conference hall ay agad kong nakita si General Rico na nakikipag-usap sa mga officers, by the look of him ay kinoconvince niya ang mga officers na wag icarry ang planong ito.

"Just right in time, come on now my dear officers. Tell that lunatic kung bakit hindi tayo pwedeng sumama sa plano niya," nakangiti niyang usal.

I gently raise my hand na siyang ikinatigil niya, "Before you speak, may I remind you officers that a lie is a crime. Our oath holds that we should not lie and we should be present if there is a war." walang buhay kong sambit. I walk to the front, General Rico trembled a little bit.

"And make sure that reason is reasonable enough to convince me kung bakit hindi kayo pwedeng sumama sa mission na ito." umupo na ako sa harap nila at katabi ko ngayon si General Rico.

Walang nagtangkang sumagot sa akin but instead they just look away, I heard na umatras ang upuan sa tabi ko.

"This is ridiculous, bakit mo kailangan isacrifice ang mga tauhan mo just because of that unconfirmed recording."

Napasandal ako sa upuan ko. "Give me one reason kung bakit hindi natin sila pwedeng irescue?"

Since pinagpipilitan mo na hindi confirmed ang recording na yun.

"First, this is a sudden appearance of that evidence and we all know na hindi tayo magkasundo sa Himapapawid. Why should we trust those people?" pangungumbinsi niya sa mga kasamahan ko.

I just remained silent because arguing with that kind of mindset is a waste of saliva.

"Second, you should trust the higher up and that's me! Marami pang importante ang dapat nating protektahan at hindi lang ang mga taong yun!"

I stared at him. "Like?"

He was clueless at first, "Huh?"

"Like what? Ano yung pinaka importante nating protektahan?" malamig kong tanong.

Hindi siya makasagot sa tanong ko, I just played the mechanical pencil na nasa kamay ko. " Can you please elaborate?"

"You know what, ikaw na mismo ang nagsabi na kailangan nating protektahan ang mga civilians...."

"But the hostages are civilians, why we cannot rescue them?" agad kong tanong.

Napatayo ako sa kinauupuan ko at tinignan ang kaluluwa ng taong ito, "Let's just put aside that my mother is a higher officer of the army, may kasama silang civilian and just like I said we should protect our civilians."

Hinarap ko naman ang mga kasamahan ko and I felt like they are very proud of me. "Now tell me a reason why we cannot rescue them?"

He cannot answer me and he just standing there like an idiot clenching his fist. I raise my brows at him and his ridiculous reasons.

"Wala ka talagang puso, hindi mo man lang inisip na mas maraming nangangailangan ng proteksyon natin." he stil sticking to his selfish principles.

"Can you please name those NEEDY people?"

I know his selfish nature, those people na gusto niyang protektahan ay ang mga business man na kumpare niya o mga politiko na nakikisipsip sa army.

Looking at him while I stomp his ego biglang bumukas ang pintuan ng conference hall at bumungad doon si Army Chief of Staff Jose, nagsitayuan naman ang mga kasamahan ko and we give respect to him through salute.

Pumagilid naman kaming dalawa ni General Rico dahil kung kaya kong tapak-tapakan ang dignidad ni General Rico, hindi ko kayang magagawa yun sa kanya.

"Ho, mukhang nagkakainitan ata kayo dito." sambit niya at umupo sa kinauupuan ko kanina.

Binaba na namin ang salute and we stand at ease in his presence.

"Sir! you have to listen to me first, we need to stop her delusions!" galit na sigaw ni General Rico while I remained calm.

"Why?"

Tila naatrasan naman siya sa tanong ni Chief Jose kaya I giggled a little bit which irritates him more.

"Because its pointless to proceed with her plans, she is just risking our men and waste our resource." pagrarason niya.

If I know na ginagamit niya lang ang karamihan sa mga resources namin for his own good, not for the people. Kaya nga ako galit na galit when he was promoted to Brigadier General, when that position will supposed to mine.

"Is that true Colonel?" baling niya sa akin.

I just raise my brows at the chief of staff, kilala na niya ako kaya pointless na rin na magtanong siya sa akin.

"Then if that's true maybe we should think of another ways to rescue them," Dagdag niyang saad na siyang ikinatuwa naman ng garapal na to.

I rolled my eyes dahil sobrang baba talaga ng comprehension ng taong to, kawawa talaga ang troops na under sa kanya.

"Yes sir..." tila narealize niya naman ang sinabi ni Chief of Staff kaya napangiti na lang ako ng sarcastic.

"Bobo talaga." mahinang usal ko.

Lumapit naman sa kanya si General Rico para malapitang kumbinsihin ang Chief of Staff. "Sir, hindi n'yo po ata narerealize kung gaano kadelikado at kamahal ang mga mission na to. Hindi ko kayang ipasok ang mga tauhan natin sa ganito kalaking mission, maraming buhay ang mawawala dahil lang sa lima o pitong tao na nandoon?"

Nila-lang niya lang ang mga taong nasa kamay ng mga rebelde? Hindi niya ata naiintindihan ang importansya ng buhay ng kada tao at iniisip niya lang ang pera.

"Kung ganoon naman pala bakit pa sila pumasok sa pagiging sundalo?" maang-maangang taong ni Chief of Staff. Tumayo na siya at inilagay ang kamay niya sa kanyang likod habang nakaharap kay General Rico.

"Po?"

"Send me those persons na takot sumabak sa gyera at ako mismo ang magtratraining sa kanila." seryosong usal niya na siyang ikinaputla ni General Rico. I smirked, serves him right.

Humarap siya sa mga kasamahan ko na tahimik lang na nakikinig sa Chief of Staff. "And that goes to all of you," umupo siya ulit at kinuha ang mechanical pencil na hawak ko kanina.

"And ano ang sabi General Rico? Mahal ang mission na to? We implying that we the Military are short in money?" tanong ni Chief of Staff.

Another hit for the goal. Paningin ko tuloy kay General Rico ay sobrang liit na na kaya na naming tapakan lahat.

"N-No s-sir---"

"Then I have to report this to the president since hindi naman tama na ginigipit tayo ng gobyerno, we are the frontline when it comes to war and war resources are very important to us." mukhang strike na talaga si General Rico, siya pa naman ang naatasan sa war resources. Tumingin naman sa akin si Chief of staff, I think ito na ang oras para mag-usap kami.

"What do you think so Colonel?" tanong niya.

I stand at ease bago siya sagutin. "I think we should continue the plan and rescue protocol, I think we have enough resources to plan everything at magiging successful ang rescue operation if may cooperation from the main base and also from the Nightingale."

Everyone gasp when they heard the Nightingale, Theo expected this but the person beside me doesn't expect that.

"You btch, don't touch the Nightingale." mahinang bulong ni General Rico sa akin.

Hindi ko lang siya pinansin. "Nightingale? Why?"

"I have a very good reason for that, Nightingale is known for its high caliber assassin's, Snipers, fighters, and so on kaya ang laki ng funding nila. If we involved them in this mission, we can reach the 80% percent success rate in rescuing the victims." mahabang eksplenasyon ko.

Nightingale is one of the most powerful troop kay marami ang gustong pumasok dito.

Tumango-tango naman si Chief of Staff sa akin. "But from what I remember, General Rico leads the authority to lead the Nightingale."

Lahat naman sila ay umagree na siyang ikinapula ni General Rico, tumayo naman si Chief of staff at ngumiti sa akin.

"Then wala naman sigurong angal si General Rico, afterall, we are just doing this to save the Civilians." nakangiting usal ni Chief of staff, alam ko ang ngiting yan eh.

"And after all, Colonel Sydney is just the person to handle this mission." makahulugang usal niya at tinapik ang balikat ni General Rico.

"Kung ako sayo, susundin ko nalang ang kagustuhan ni Colonel. She can slit your throat in just a second, she was under my care nung ako pa ang leader ng Nightingale." yun lang ang sinabi ni Chief of staff at tumungo na nang pintuan.

Bago siya lumabas ay tumigil muna siya saglit. "I expect you to send me the plans for your rescue operation by the end of the week and expect the Nightingale to transfer in your base Colonel. It's nice to see you back in your pack, Sydney. Lead them well."
