Ayla p.o.v
“If not for the stupid agreement you had with his father when he was alive, he wouldn't be coming here.” Uncle Theophilus stormed at my dad.
Agreement?
With the former northern alpha?
“Don't call it stupid. It was a wise decision I made, and I will never regret it!” My father replied in anger.
“Wise decision, you say? Huh, really, Alpha Kelly?” Uncle Theophilus laughed sarcastically at my father's words.
“You better shut your mouth up or have your tongue being cut off.” My father warned buy uncle Theophilus wasn't intimidated by these threats, instead he continued to speak out his feelings.
“How do you think the pack will feel about Alpha Mason coming here? We all have heard of the terrible things he did to the southern pack.” Uncle Theophilus questioned.
“He isn't coming here to harm us.” My mother answered.
“Oh, if he isn't coming to harm us, why is he coming then? Twenty-one years ago, your husband, our Alpha, promised Alpha Milton, Alpha Mason's father, that If he gave him the living waters which is only found in the northern pack castle that he will forever be indebted to him. Now, his son wants us to pay that debt, and you say he isn't coming here to harm us? Then what is he coming here to do other than to enslave us!” Uncle Theophilus yelled as he hit the table angrily, and most of us around the table except my dad and beta Derulo flinched at his reaction.
“He didn't just make the promise. He did it to save Luna Isla.” Aunty Mandy chipped in.
Oh, so he is coming here because of a twenty-one-year debt?
Really?
“He did that to save his sanity. If he hadn't done that, I don't think Alpha Kelly would be leading us today, so stop all this unnecessary drama, Theophilus.” Beta Derulo warned with gritted teeth.
“Do you have an idea why he is coming, Alpha Kelly?” My grandfather, Landon, questioned.
My father sighed before looking at my mother, who immediately bowed her head to look at her feet.
Something is wrong.
Why did my mother's countenance change?
Is something bothering her?
“He is coming to claim Ayla.” My father blurted out.
My eyes widened, and my lips parted in shock.
I looked at him with shocked written all over my face.
I probably didn't hear him correctly.
I'm sure I misheard him.
“I'm sorry…but I don't get your statement, dad. What did you say?” I questioned as I rubbed my hand on my dress, trying to wipe away the sweat that was already on my hand.
My mother turned to look at me as she held my hand.
“Twenty one years ago, I was in labor for five days. Your late great-grandmother gave me all sorts of herbs but yet, you still didn't come out. I was in great pain and there was nothing I could do. Then, your father heard of the living waters that was in the northern kingdom. He went there, but Alpha Milton made him promise you to his son in exchange for a cup of the living waters. I'm sorry…" My mother was unable to complete her statement because I interrupted her.
“And you didn't tell me? You didn't see the need to tell me until today? Really?” I questioned as I felt my body began to grow hot with anger.
“I thought it would be better if we didn't tell you, princess.” My dad said as he gave me an apologetic look.
I huffed as stood up from my seat.
“You thought? You thought! This is my future we are talking about!” I yelled, and my mom stood up to hold my hand.
“No, don't touch me!” I warned.
“I'm sorry, Ayla. Please.” My mother apologized, but I was not going to listen to any of her apologizes.
“I can't believe you could keep something like this from me.” I mumbled as I felt my heart broke into pieces.
My parents had me betrothed to someone and didn't even tell me about it.
“We are sorry.” My dad apologized as he walked up to me.
“And what if I say I would rather not marry him?” I questioned.
“You have no choice, Ayla. Please keep in mind that whatever Alpha Mason wants, he will surely get it, unless you want everyone dead in this pack, and I'm sure you don't want that.” Uncle Theophilus informed me.
I looked at my dad to see if he could give me a different answer.
Probably he can tell me that if I would rather not marry him, then It's going to be fine.
But no.
I didn't get a response from him.
I looked at my mom, and she shook her head, which meant that I truly had no say in this.
“Dad, he is a monster.” I tried to give my father more reasons to be on my side.
“He will treat you well, I promise.” My father convinced me instead.
“Mom, I don't want to…"
“Ayla, if there was something I and your father could do, we would have done it. It's not quite easy for an Alpha to break a promise. If he doesn't keep to his promise, the moon goddess will be against him and the pack…" my mother explained, and I felt tears roll down my face.
“I'm not an object, I should have a say in this too. ” I yelled in frustration.
“Sorry for intruding, Alpha.” Harrison, one of the guards, burst through the door.
“What is it, Harrison?” My father questioned, feeling irritated with him intruding our conversation.
“News reaching me that Alpha Mason, from the Northern pack, will be here by midnight.” Harrison blurted out, and I felt my world began to crash.
“What!" Everyone in the hall room screamed with fright.
So dad wasn't kidding.
He is really coming here to take me.
“Ayla…" Dalton tried to say, but I quickly ran out of the courtroom, not wanting to hear anything about my marriage with Alpha Mason.
How can I be betrothed to a beast?
A monster?
A man who has no heart?
Above all, A Tribid Alpha.
