"It sure is raining cats and dogs outside."

Mico and I just gazed out of the glass wall of the restaurant as we watched the raging rain outside. Bago pa man kami makarating dito kanina ay sobrang lakas na ng ulan. The two of us have just finished our meal and are currently enjoying our dessert.

Last day kasi ngayon ni Sir Skyler sa summer workshop. Iuuwi na rin niya ang mga dinala niyang gamit sa simula ng workshop kaya dadaan sana ako sa kanila para tumulong. Unfortunately, kanina pa ayaw tumigil ng ulan at mukhang hindi na ako makakapunta pa sa kanila.

"Besides, I think they need some time alone," I added with a smile. "Sir Skyler actually called me earlier and asked me about Elio's cake preference. I think he bought one for him."

Napangiti naman si Mico. "Ano naman ang sinabi mo?" tanong niya.

I rolled my eyes. "As if naman na alam ko agad ang mga gusto ni Elio. I told him to buy a chocolate cake, just to be safe," sagot ko.

"Now that I think of it, that's weird. Skyler isn't the type of person who'd buy a cake for someone," sabi naman ni Mico.

"Those two actually went out and ate together on Sir Skyler's first day at the workshop. Iniwan nga nila ako kaya siningil ko si sir later on. Sinabi niya sa 'kin na Elio looked really happy when he brought him to the bakeshop. Kilala mo naman ang kaibigan mo. Gawa sa marshmallow ang puso niya," sabi ko.

Mico stared at me for several moments. "You look at ease now," he said.

I sighed. "Things are getting better between them. Ayoko namang humadlang sa bumubuti nilang pakikitungo sa isa't-isa. Still, I'm keeping a close eye on them. Ayokong maging hadlang sa pagkakaibigan nila, pero ayoko ring may masaktan sa kanila, lalo na si Elio," sabi ko.

Mico let out a sigh as he placed his hand over mine. "Relax, okay? You have to trust Skyler. Unlike me, he's much more behaved and careful. I'm pretty sure na wala siyang intensyon na saktan si Elio. He's just genuinely being nice to him."

"Oo na," sagot ko naman. "Also, I'm so sorry if I keep talking about Sir Skyler even when we're together. This is supposed to be our time together, but. . ."

"It's fine," Mico replied with a gentle smile. "Skyler's current situation is pretty interesting, anyway. I think all of us are curious about them. Nakakatuwa nga pag-usapan ang mokong na 'yun."

I smiled at him as a reply.

"By the way, do you have plans this May?" asked Mico.

"Actually, wala," sagot ko naman. "Mag-aasikaso lang ako ng enrollment for the next academic year. Final week pa naman 'yun ng buwan. Other than that, wala na akong ibang gagawin."

"I was actually planning to go to the beach. Kahit ilang araw lang. We also deserve a break every now and then, lalo pa ngayon na summer at wala naman tayong masyadong ginagawa. You wanna come?" he asked.

"I don't think—"

"I'm also going to invite Skyler. He could use a break, too. Ni hindi pa nga siya nakapagpapahinga since his last exhibit. I'm pretty sure that I can force him to agree to come. Maybe we can ask Elio, too," Mico said.

I rolled my eyes. "Fine. Titingnan ko kung kailan ang magandang schedule para sa 'min ni Sir Skyler, lalo pa't may isa pa siyang workshop na papasukan ngayong May," sabi ko naman.

"Good. Everybody wins!"

It's been several weeks since Mico started courting me; months if I counted his earlier failed attempts. Kahit papaano, I can feel that he's really making an effort to get closer to me. In fact, nagre-recommend na rin siya ng mga anime na hindi ko pa napapanood. Nakikita ko naman na gusto talaga niyang malaman ang mga bagay na gusto ko, and I really appreciate it. It makes me feel like I really matter to him.

Who would've thought that this hopeless playboy is also capable of behaving well? Kung hindi ko lang talaga siya kilala, malamang ay inakala ko nang ibang tao ang kasama ko ngayon. Nevertheless, I'm glad to see that he's really trying to show his sincerity about courting me. My initial bad impression about him is now slowly changing.

Lagpas alas-nuwebe na ng gabi kami lumabas ng restaurant. Sobrang lakas pa rin ng ulan at halos puno na ng tubig ang kalsada. Sinubukan akong payungan ni Mico ng coat niya pero pinigil ko na siya lalo pa't may suot naman akong coat.

"Mababasa ka, ugok. Let's just go to the car. Kaya ko namang payungan ang sarili ko," sabi ko sabay tulak sa kanya.

Buti na lang at sa malapit lang naka-park ang kotse ni Mico. Sa kasamaang-palad, saktong paglapit ko sa kotse niya ay siya namang pagdaan ng isang sasakyan. Ako ang nasa gilid ng kalsada kaya ako ang sumalo sa lahat ng tubig na biglang tumilapon.

"WHAT THE—"

Sinubukan pa sanang tawagin ni Mico ang may-ari ng kotse pero pinigilan ko na siya.

"Are you okay? We should've just stayed in the restaurant," sabi ni Mico.

"I'm fine. I'm just soaking wet," sabi ko habang nagpupunas gamit ang coat ko.

"My place is not that far from here. You can get changed there. Ibibili na lang kita ng bagong damit," sabi ni Mico.

"Ihatid mo na lang ako sa condo ko—"

"Malayo pa ang condo mo. Traffic din. Baka baha pa nga. I know the roads here. We'll get to my condo in no time. Baka magkasakit ka pa kung hindi ka magpapatuyo agad. Bibilhan lang muna kita ng damit," sagot ni Mico.

Basang-basa na ako at nilalamig pa kaya pumayag na lang ako. "Just turn off the AC," I said.

Buti na lang at may nadaanan kaming boutique kung saan bumili ng damit si Mico. Suot-suot ko na rin ang coat niya dahil sobrang lamig na talaga. True to his word, we arrived at his place in less than thirty minutes.

"I didn't know you live there," I said upon seeing that we're headed towards a luxury, high-rise building. I also recognized the place around us as a residential area for the most elite and wealthiest people in the country. In fact, I just remembered na minsan na nga pala kaming nag-deliver ng painting malapit dito. We even wore ultra-formal clothes because we were also invited to their family dinner. Our client was a rich businessman who asked Sir Skyler to create a massive family painting. Mico smiled sheepishly. "Well, my parents bought it for me when I graduated from the culinary school. I still want to live in an ordinary house, of course, but I'm still saving up money to build my dream home," he said.

"Good for you," I said, realizing for the first time that this bastard also has dreams after all.

Mico's condo was located on the upper floors of the building. Naglalakad na kami sa hallway nang ma-realize kong first time ko nga palang makikita ang tirahan niya. It probably looks like a mess, given how most males are usually disorderly and careless with their things. Mico seemed to realize that, too.

"Actually, can you stay here for a minute?" he said with a sheepish smile as we stood in front of his door. "I just need to fix a few things inside."

I almost smirked. "Go ahead."

Sa mga sumunod na sandali ay mga kalabog lang ang narinig ko mula sa loob. Hindi naman ako tanga para hindi ma-realize kung ano ang ginagawa niya.

"You and Sir Skyler truly are friends," I whispered to myself.

After several moments, Mico peeked from behind the door, all sweaty and disheveled. "Please come in," he said breathlessly.

"Thank you," I said before stepping inside.

Hindi ko alam kung anong salamangka ang ginawa niya, but the place looked organized and clean. Also, I immediately realized that this place must've cost a ton of money. Interior design pa lang halata nang mas mahal 'to kaysa sa simple kong condo. I also saw a balcony with a majestic view of the city.

"This place was really messy, so I had to clean up a bit first," Mico said.

I punched his chest lightly. "Oo na. Thanks for letting me in, by the way. I'll get changed now."

Mico's POV

"Actually, do you want to stay here tonight?"

Kelly's eyes immediately narrowed.

"I have an extra bedroom here. Besides, it's getting late and it seems that the rain won't be stopping any sooner. It'll be a lot safer if you stay here for the night," I said.

Kelly waved his hand impatiently. "Fine. Whatever. Make me a hot chocolate or something hot that I can drink. Where's the bathroom?" he asked.

"Off the kitchen. That way," sabi ko naman.

As Kelly headed to the bathroom, pumunta naman ako sa kusina para maghanda ng request niya. Pagkalapag ko ng paper bag na dala ko ay saka ko lang narealize na hawak-hawak ko pa pala ang damit niya susuutin. Agad ko naman siyang sinundan.

"Kelly, you forgot to bring your—"

I know it's hard to believe, but I really don't know why I just nonchalantly opened the bathroom door. Natigilan na lang ako pagkabukas ko ng pinto at namalayan ko na lang na nakatitig na ako kay Kelly.

He was only wearing underwear. Nakatalikod siya at tila hindi niya napansin ang pagpasok ko.
