The wind kissed my cheeks with a salty hush, warm and gentle — a far cry from the raging storm that had once dragged me into hell. I stood at the very edge of the island’s cliff, the exact place where it all began. Where metal and fire met salt and sky. Where I should’ve died. Where I thought everything was lost.
