THE BROKEN PROMISE

*LILY POV*

To think that my dad has some nerve to run for a mayor and he invited Mr. De Leon na current mayor ng aming city. I thought they are friends and look what happened here? The saying is true... In politics no permanent friends, no permanent enemies but permanent interest.

Katabi ko si Jack and he whispered to me as we both took sip of our precious wines.

"What has gotten in your dad's brain? Is he not friends with Mr. De Leon anymore? I thought na parang kapatid na ang turingan nilang dalawa? And now he is going to compete with him?"

"Ano ka ba? Walang permanent friends ang dad ko. He is not saying this but that is the truth. Tinatrato lang nito ang isang tao depende sa pakinabang nito sa kanya. I know him better than anyone else. Look at him, all he wants is power. Marami na kasi itong negosyo na gusto n'yang lumago na kalaban din ng negosyo ni Mr. De Leon. So if he wins this election, magiging number one ang lahat ng mga negosyo n'ya at mas madami pa s'yang maa attract na investors. Mas matalino pa sa matching."

"Ang tanong, how can he win against Mr. De Leon?"

"Don't ask me about it because I also do not know if he is going to win. May be sa maayos or sa pagbili ng boto ng mga tao. Either way, I think na magbe benefit din tayo rito since may mga business din tayo na maaaring tulungan ni Dad."

"Then I should invest more money to your business. Ang sabi nga nila, strike while the iron is hot."

I looked at him seductively, "You've got nothing to worry about. As long as I am your partner, your money is worth the risk. I will make sure na lalago ang pera na binigay mo sa akin. And after that, you should leave Emily alone and come with me."

He gave me a sweet smile that I badly wanted from him. Mas lalo s'yang pumu pogi sa mga ngiti nitong nakakapang akit. Ito ang isa sa mga bagay na labis kong nagustuhan sa kanya.

"Gusto ko na rin talagang umalis sa ganitong klase ng sitwasyon. I just fell out of love for Emily. Wala na akong pagmamahal sa kanya and I am just waiting for her to give up on me. Because I can't do it myself."

"Then give her a reason to give you up. Would you like me kiss you now para makita n'ya at makipag break up ito sayo?"

"No, I decline! Bakit ka gagawa ng isang bagay na ikakasira ng party ng papa mo?"

"One week na tayong magka relasyon, Jack! Ang hirap na maging number two lang ako sa puso mo. I don't want to end up as your mistress, kabit, kerida, number two, ahas, malandi. I need you to be legally mine. And as I promise, babahagian kita ng pera sa makukuha ko sa step dad ko. Afterall, ako ang bukod tanging mag mamana ng mga ari arian at lahat ng yaman nito. If you choose to marry me, tayong dalawa ang mag hahati ng lahat ng mga makukuha ko mula sa kanya."

"Kung makapag salita ka, para mo na rin nilagyan ng taning ang buhay ng papa mo."

I grinned evilly, "Oh I forgot to mention it but I happened to see his medical record sa office nito when he was not around. He has a chance to develop pancreas cancer and soon he'll be as good as dead. I know cancer is already a death sentence so once na mamatay ito, then I will have everything he worked hard for so if I were you, make better choices in life. "I told you, mas magaling ako sa kama kesa sa girlfriend mo. Break up with her at ipapakita ko sayo ang mala p*rn h*b na galawan na hindi pinakita ng gf mo."

"Stop disrespecting her. Wala pang nangyayari sa aming dalawa. I respect her as she respects me. Stop degrading her."

Naubos na ang wine sa glass ko so I dragged him para kumuha ng drinks kasama ko sa loob. Tumambay muna kaming dalawa at nakita kong nag iisa na naman si Emily. I am laughing at her right now kase mag isa lang ito. But nagulat na lang din ako nang lumapit ni ang step dad ko sa kanya and he offered her another drink. Pinalitan ang iniinom n'ya and if I am not mistaken, mamahalin ang wine na pinapa inom nito sa kanya. Something special na never nitong ipinatikim sa akin.

"What is the matter, Lily?"

I turned my gaze on Jack, "No it is nothing, may be you should go to your Emily kase may pupuntahan lang ako saglit. But promise me na magpapaiwan ka. I shall meet you later once the party is over."

Binigay ko ang drinks ko sa kanya and I went straight to the bathroom and locked it from the inside. I rested my back against the door. That bullshit girl and my step dad, I have a feeling that they're up tom something. I am shaking right now. I don't mind their closeness kase maawain masyado ang lalaking yun. Pero if she comes after my wealth, then that is an entire different story. Ipapatikim ko sa kanya ang galit ko. Lumabas na ako at hinanap ng mga mata ko si Jack. He is now with Emily.
