Having been raised by parents with conflicting views, Darby is on the surface a bright, lovely and pleasant young lady of the 1900's and has just finished, rather scandalously, a degree in Archeology. However having to navigate a society that is harsh to women with career aspirations and strong opinions her true nature, hidden below her angel like surface is more than willing to manipulate anything she needs to, to get her way. Jack is a gentle young man down on his luck and searching for any way to make ends meet so that he can continue to support himself without having to return to the controlling grasp of his family. One thing leads to another and these two become tossed together and what the future holds is sure to be anything but smooth sailing.
