Milano, 1927. Nausicaa, una giovane pittrice milanese, ha appena comprato il biglietto per il viaggio in transatlantico per New York , dove esporrà un suo quadro all’International Exhibition of Modern Art a Brooklyn. Nello stesso giorno, però, comincia a soffrire di una grave forma di fotofobia che mette a rischio la sua prossima partenza. Sono gli anni ruggenti del jazz di Amstrong e Gershwin, i libri di Scott Fitzgerald e Pirandello, in una Milano ricca di nuovi edifici con le decorazioni e arredi liberty e Nausicaa e’ proprio figlia di quei tempi … Alla ricerca di una cura risolutiva, inizia un percorso nella nascente psicologia analitica con un allievo del dottor Jung, da cui impara a dialogare con la sua anima e a comprendere il significato simbolico del suo sintomo. Chissà se questo viaggio dentro di sé la porterà davvero a New York…?
