Serenity develops a rapport with blond, blue-eyed Jamie, but this is quickly complicated by the sweetly shy boy next door, Chris. Serenity and Chris were close as pre teens. The summer of their twelfth birthdays, they made a blood pact - to be together forever. Though Serenity's powers were latent at the time, blood magic is scarily strong, and the spell she cast unknowingly so long ago is manipulating her to steer her back to Chris and away from Jamie.
