Serenity hates her life, at seventeen she is stuck in her small home village with a family she detests. Her mother died when she was an infant, her father and older brother are contemptuous and tend to ignore Serenity, unless they want her to feed them. She is an amazing cook, able to produce incredibly tasty food from very basic ingredients. This is part of her talent; Serenity's mother was a witch. At seventeen, her powers are beginning to manifest, though she has no idea of her heritage.Now she must work out what is happening to her with the help of her best friend Chloe, and the sacred crystals left to her by her mother. Both girls can't help but notice the school heart throb Jamie, a six foot two, muscular, angelic-looking symbol of manhood. Serenity develops a rapport with blond, blue-eyed Jamie, but this is quickly complicated by the sweetly shy boy next door, Chris. Serenity and Chris were close as pre teens. The summer of their twelfth birthdays, they made a blood pact - to be together forever. Though Serenity's powers were latent at the time, blood magic is scarily strong, and the spell she cast unknowingly so long ago is manipulating her to steer her back to Chris and away from Jamie.
