Ether's Chronicle
Updated at Jul 29, 2026, 07:57
Ether is a 19-year-old boy who returns to Agunbiade Victory High School in SSS2 Art, three years after graduating from Progressive International College at 16. Life forced him to pause school — at 16 he worked in a factory in Ogunmakin to pay hospital bills and support his family after his mum fell sick. Now he’s back, older, quiet, and carrying weight no teenager should. From day one Ether stands out. Not loud, but confident. He defends Head Prefect *Aminat* in a disciplinary meeting, earning respect and rumors. He answers a phone call in assembly and walks away unpunished, making students see him as fearless. Teachers are split — some respect his brilliance and responsibility, others hate how he confronts injustice. At home, nothing is easy. He lives with “family friends” who treat him like a houseboy: plates, sweeping, “where is money?” But he endures. His only escapes are football and music in his corner with an old turtle-neck sweater his grandma gave him. Love complicates him. *Aminat* is older and distant. *Memunat* notices him early, gets close, then pulls away when he sits with new friends; when she tries to return, he keeps his distance. *Sekinat*, calm and religious, works with him as Assistant Head Prefect. *Fanny, Blossom and Fathia* from JSS become his little sisters. Then comes *Blessing* — loud, dramatic, with a dark side like his. After Art 1 and Art 2 merge into 65 students, they fight, make up, and slowly develop chemistry. The school assumes they’re dating. Blessing hates football; football is Ether’s peace. They clash, but she makes him laugh and feel lighter. On the field Ether builds a team. In a friendly match he comes off the bench and scores two headers, earning respect even from boys who booed him. Through prefect duties, fights, home stress, and complicated love, Ether stays standing. Bold, responsible, and tired — but unbroken.
