California embodies two different sides in it, one for the bougie elite and the other for struggling forgotten citizens. On this side, stays seraphim stones, who is a striving woman in her twenties, who stays alone with her bedridden grandmother, Nana. When her supposed only reason to leave is on the verge of death, she is ready to do anything to save her life, so she goes into an unplanned marriage that costs her to stoop low and risk her self esteem, and be used as a puppet for Mr Grey Williams’s selfish reasons. Seraphim stones is a 25 years old woman who was abandoned by her father before birth and lost her mother at birth, she was raised by her grandmother who is now bedridden and now at the verge of death. Her current work doesn't pay her enough to cover up for Nana's medical bills, so her boss links her up, and she signs up to compete for a contract that would pay her bills and leave enough to hold on to afterwards. She gets picked and walks into an unplanned contract marriage where she finds it hard to blend into her new found temporary life and keep up with her old life with Nana as well
