Pregnant With His ChildUpdated at Oct 29, 2023, 22:43
I'm too nervous right now, I have no idea how I'm gonna break this news to him.
I took a deep breath, gathered some courage and said, "Andrew, I need to tell you something..."
But he interrupted me halfway through, and said, "Emma, you're finally free,"
Confused, I furrowed my brows. What is he talking about? I shook my head and repeated, "I don't get what you're saying."
He smiled at my reaction and held out his hand, which was holding some papers. I raised an eyebrow as I looked at the papers, silently asking what they were.
He replied, "Just read it."
My frown deepened as he handed me the papers, and my eyes immediately focused on the words written on them.
DIVORCE AGREEMENT
The contents shook me to my core, and tears welled up in my eyes.
"These are divorce papers for our contract marriage, Emma. Congratulations, you're finally free from me," he said with a chuckle.
Hearing his words, I lifted my head and locked eyes with his emotionless gaze.
I couldn't believe it. How could he just divorce me like that? Sure, our marriage was only a contract, but I thought that living together for a whole year would change something between us. Guess I was wrong.
"Sign these," he said flatly.
I simply nodded, doing my best to hold back my tears. I knelt in front of the tea table in the main hall and set the papers down. My eyes scanned the table, searching for a pen, until I noticed him holding one out towards me.
I bite my lips to keep my tears from falling when I see how eager he is for me to sign the divorce papers. I grab the pen from his hands and clutch my stomach with my other hand.
I write my signature, squeezing my abdomen tightly over my dress, and then let go of the pen. A single tear escapes my eye and lands on my signature.
Well, that's it. Everything is over now. The year I spent with him, the life we had together, it's all done. I thought we both loved each other, but...
I don't know who will be there for us now, for me and my baby. I close my eyes tightly and say to myself with determination, 'We don't need anyone, baby. I will raise you without your father. Your mommy will love you until her last breath.'
