ABOUTquote
I have always dreamed of being a writer, but I never seemed to have the time. Recently, I chose to make the time and enjoy every minute. I am currently writing The Prophecy, my first novel. I live in Missouri with my husband of 22 years and four of our five children. We also have a lot of extra kids, friends of my children who call us mom and dad. We raise Pomskies and have cattle, horses, mutts, and livestock guardian dogs. I work full-time outside the home as a Community Support Specialist. I love to receive feedback on my writing, so please,, comment what you like, what you don\'t and what you think should be added or taken away. Thank you to all of my readers and followers!

Kidnapped by the Dragon King
Updated at Nov 30, 2023, 17:48
"Are you ready to play nice?" Arias said as he grinned at me. "Nope," I refused to look at him. I would not give him the satisfaction. He cleared his throat, "You are not getting out of here unless you agree to my terms." "Then I guess I'm staying put," I replied, crossing my arms over my chest. "Look at me!" Arias yelled. I turned my head and scowled at him. He appeared not to notice. "That's better. Tell me, do you enjoy staying down here?" I looked around the cell. I didn't want to stay here, but I would not give in. "It's not that bad. Give it a good cleaning and," I peered at him and stopped talking. He was clearly not amused. Arias turned on his heel and walked away. I heard the door slam and knew he had left. Lying back on the cot, I stared at the ceiling again. There were no windows so I wasn't sure what time it was or how much time had passed since I had arrived. I counted the stones in the wall and found that there were 152 before Clare returned with lunch. She had the guard open the metal door and brought the tray over to me. Placing the food on the cot, she squinted her eyes. "The king was not pleased after he visited with you earlier." Clare had brought me beef vegetable stew with bread and another glass of milk. It smelled heavenly! "I will not allow him to tell me what to do! I have had enough of that my whole life with my father. Maybe Arias should have done more research if he wanted someone who would follow orders." I took a bite of my food. This was probably the best stew I had ever had in my entire life! Clare shook her head. "If you just do what he asks, you could be comfortable upstairs. What does he want you to do?" "He wants me to play nice! I don't even know what that means!" I said with a mouth full of food. I was in a dungeon; manners were out the window at this point. "Maybe you should ask him. I hate seeing you down here and, no offense, but I would prefer not to have to come down here either!" She chuckled. "You seem like a pretty level-headed girl. Just cooperate and I'm sure everything will be fine." She picked up my empty tray and winked at me. "If you are still down here for dinner, I will bring your tray and maybe a book to occupy your time." "Thank you! I would love that!" I exclaimed. I missed being able to read; it was one of my favorite past times. She nodded and left, the guard closing my door behind her. I had nothing better to do, so I lay on the cot and began counting the stones in the far wall. When Arias arrived again, I sat up. "Now," he stated as he leered at me. "Are you ready to play nice?" I glared at him and sat up. "What does that mean, exactly?" He chuckled, "It means you stay where I tell you to stay and go where I tell you to go. You don't try to run off and it would be nice if you could keep a little better control over your mouth." Control over my mouth? Oh, he hadn't seen anything yet. I took a deep breath and exhaled slowly. I did want out of here, so maybe I could tone it down a bit. "Fine. I will play nice."
