1-Working for your Best friends
Working with your best friend is the dream job, fortunately, I have that job. Unfortunately, its not an easy job.
I represented a great aspect of the Marketing and Statistics department of my Grandfathers company. With my two favorite cousins running as Twin CEO's and the rest of my maternal cousins also being In charge of a specific department according to their fields. You could say, it was a hell of a ride everyday at work.
Going to chill in your CEO's office when you get exhausted, having the opportunity to give him the required information whenever and wherever. To say it made life easy would be an understatement.
Alex on the other hand, was the upfront CEO of his Father's franchise. He ruled with an Iron fist... at least that's what he wanted people to believe. He was actually quite a reasonable boss, as long as you were doing what you were supposed to do, your job wasn't in danger.
His team comprised of the most professional and fast working men and women I had ever encountered. They were diligent and devoted to their work, and they made great presentations. Everyone knew Alex had a thing for different colors everyday, but it was still amusing to see a presentation in all rainbow.
I had refrained from laughing at the very amused and moved Alex during that specific meeting a few weeks ago. While Vince and Leo, my twin and very much favorite cousins hadn't refrained from chortling and teasing him at all.
Currently, I was making my way into the head quarters where my best friend should've definitely been having coffee right about now. The people I passed were familiar with me due to my constant visits and waved or smiled at me in greeting.
The best part of my trip here every time was that I got the chance to use the CEO's personal Elevator!!! Mr.Adams, Alex's father, had given me the key card for the elevator while Alex was a CEO in training. And I often came here to get a break and force my dedicated best friend to take one as well.
As the Elevator stopped on the top floor, the receptionist greeted me with a wide smile and pointed towards the main office to let me know that yes, the i***t still hadn't gone for lunch. Luckily for him, I had managed to bring lunch for the both of us from my cousin's order.
Ever since they had realized that I would often split my half with Alex, they ordered extra. Knowing that most of my breaks would be spent getting my best friend's mind off of work.
"Cheerio~"
His head shot up in alarm before his eyes roamed me from head to toe and he pursed his lips as if containing his laughter.
I huffed under my breath, the door closing behind me as he finally burst into giggles.
"W-What even is that?"
I glared at him in offense, showing him the food and gesturing to the door with my head. Letting him know that I was definitely going to leave if he didn't stop giggling at my outfit.
So what if it was a bit mismatched? Just Yellow business pants with a white button up and a dark blue cardigan. Paired with my yellow and white converses. Maybe it was a bit childish, but I liked color just as much as this other i***t across from me.
Getting himself under control the moment he realized that food was at risk, Alex straightened up immediately and stood up to stretch.
"Ah you eyesore, I definitely missed you."
I stomped on his foot in return, earning a pained squeal and laughing at him as he hopped around for a bit.
"And I missed you, lexy."
Side effects of sticking with me and my cousins for so long, included squealing like a girl. And it was hilarious when the 6 foot giants, dressed in tux's would make such a sound.
I got my laughter under control when he snatched the food from me and pouted at me with a frown. Huffing when I pinched his cheeks and pouted as well.
"You adorable little munchkin."
He shook his head at me in amusement before sitting down on the posh leather couch in his office. Taking a whiff of the food, he looked up at me in anticipation.
"You can't guess what it is this time, lexy."
I teased, knowing that the packing was thicker to keep the food warm. Alex took my challenge in stride and narrowed his eyes at me playfully. I watched as he took another whiff and went on a roll.
"I'm smelling beef, so probably steak, but the scent is altered by some chicken, so two steaks, beef and chicken, with sour sauce and... ooh is that pasta?"
I groaned in frustration, loosing yet another challenge and glaring at him while he smirked at me. Dammit, I was sure at least the pasta won't be noticed. But this was Alex, food and color were the things he loved.
He started setting out the food before taking turns for washing hands. Once we were settled, he took a white sauce filled bite of pasta and hummed in delight at the taste.
"This is why I love you, you literally never disappoint."
I grinned at that, picking up the knife and fork and working my way through the beef steak. I chuckled when I realized the way his eyes were trained on me. Knowing that look very well, I cut off a slightly bigger piece then what I was used to, and held it out for him to take.
Smiling widely, he leaned forward to swipe the chunk of meat off my fork but stopped halfway through. I rolled my eyes as he gestured to the sour sauce with his gaze. Dipping the piece into it, I watched as the child took his bite and nodded at me.
As if reminding me that my taste in food was excellent. I narrowed my eyes in return, remembering last month when he had made faces at the very steak that I was eating right now.
Stupid Ogre.
"We have to fly all the way to Vegas for the merger. You remember right?"
He nodded in response, stuffing himself with another bite of pasta and turning to me afterwards, expecting more of my steak! As much as I wanted to snatch away the food and start talking business, I knew he was busier than me. With all the paparazzi appearances he had done just last month, the new contract they had to make and finalize with us for the merger.
The problem with their head quarters in China and Singapore that he had to personally deal with. I knew these were probably the only times he ate properly. As far as I knew, my existence and constant visits were the only reason his mother wasn't forcing him to bring lunch along.
"Yeah, what about it?"
He responded before the door opened and his secretary walked in. Fixing his glasses so they settled perfectly on the bridge of his nose. For some reason they were always tilted. And Alex and I both found amusement in counting the times he would fix them during meetings.
"Hi Gabe!"
Gabriel was a decent man, and he knew exactly how much sugar we needed in our coffees. Judging by the cups in his hands, I could only guess what he was here for. He greeted me back in response before leaving our beverages in front of us and swiftly taking his leave.
We stared after him through the glass wall quietly. Before Alex stole a piece of my steak and nearly got stabbed because of it.
____________
"Alex, the meeting starts in 10 and we have to immediately leave for the jet after that."
The meeting was with my cousins about the new merger my grandfather and Alex's father had somehow talked about over some secretive dinner and now wanted us to put in the dedication and hard work to pull through. None of us stood a chance against their arguments so we didn't even try. And here we were now.
The Two CEO's of my Grandfathers company, sitting in the meeting room with a handful of members from the board of directors. While Alex tried to go over everything within the last ten minutes.
This merger involved a new hotel line Grandpa- pops- wanted to buy. It was a good and fair deal, but impressing the board of directors was the hard part. Not to mention that the chairman was my grandfather himself and he wanted the discussion done under his scrutiny.
Even if it was his own idea, he wouldn't waste a second before waving it off if we didn't present them with a compelling enough reason to do so. After this meeting was through, we had to immediately embark on a journey through the skies... all the way to Vegas.
Another meeting with a Hotelier had been set up there. And Alex and I would be the first ones to go, Vince and Leo would meet us there at the very last moment. Not their brightest idea but it was too late to turn back now. We had to work our way up from there within the two given days. The third one was for our little group to enjoy.
If both these meetings went successfully, the hotel chain ownership would be as good as ours. But, both the companies had to decide on their shares and values. Along with the departments they wanted under their ownership.
Pops was definitely taking management and marketing while Alex planned on taking over establishment and statistics. It was their own weird way of dividing everything in four basic mini units.
"Remember that time in high school where bunking defined our friendship?"
I chuckled, rolling my eyes at that memory.
"Our? Alex you literally bunked one class and felt so bad that you went and sat in detention by yourself after you were forgiven."
He frowned in return, getting that adorably competitive and stubborn look once again. But we both knew what was going to happen here. This boy was going down.
"What? Don't judge okay, I felt bad, I missed out on everything after all the hard work Ms. Bubblegum put in. And~"
"You weren't a golden boy for nothing."
He grinned in return before gasping dramatically as he realized that he hadn't revised during our argument and his time was up. I moved faster than he did, and snatched the files from right under his nose, before speed walking away to the meeting room.
Having a whining Alex following me and leaving a chuckling Gabe behind.
