Chapter 1 Meztli sometimes I wish you were still here I really miss you and It's gotten so lonely since you left... like yeah I have Stacy, but she can't be here for me all the time like you were and I know there’s Zen, and Zari but I feel like it’s not the same without you so Zens been kind of distant  And well Dad’s always busy with Beta duties since the rogues have been an issue lately keeping him on his toes so he’s really stressed as of late I mean it’s like his jobs increased! Like he already assists the alpha with anything that needs doing, things like helping with the pack's finances, housing, setting up patrols, going to meetings, war strategies, and because of the recent issues assisting the Delta with Pack training. Then there’s mom she can’t really do anything seeing as my little brothers aren’t ready to come out yet and it’s really starting to get to her because as you know moms the packs Beta female and you know how she is Meztli. Mom Loves helping out Luna Sally with all the pack events, ceremonies, and training since they both came from the same pack and are really strong and want everyone to be ready for the worst. I mean that’s how it was in the pack you were in with Uncle Orion right? I wonder how he’s doing? I wonder how you’re doing or if you miss me? That’s beside the point I’m going off-topic but anyway since the twins are keeping her in bed till she’s due I think mom’s having withdrawals having to stay in one place all the time and continuously missing out on helping Luna Sally who comes by frequently to check up on mom. Who really misses you by the way but you should have seen her face when they told her she had to go on bed rest she had the biggest pout on her face and dad broke into a rare smile at his mate's cuteness. Doctor Dawn was honestly shocked when dad smiled because she had known him since they were kids and even then it was rare for him. Then she told me ‘the only time Morgan ever smiled was when Lori had me’ but getting back to what I was saying everyone’s busy and no one has time and since mom can really get out of bed I spend most of my time with Fae you remember her right One of the strongest pack warriors there is Yeah, she keeps me company while she helps mom around the house, and like don't get me wrong hanging out with Fae does have its perks because she always gives me snacks and keeps me busy by having me help with house chores.  if mom and dad knew they would be proud  Yeah, it might not be the same, but I think she doesn't mind spending time with me because she told me she had a daughter who would have been my age if she had survived the rouge attack that happened a few years ago  when I was 2 years old I think, so it was before you got here  What happened was that Fae didn't get to Leah and Wyatt on time that day, as you know she and her mate Wyatt were strong pack warriors. They told you guys about him during a defense lesson and how he was really good at his job as an enforcer during fights defending the pack Well, anyways the thing was that Wyatt had sustained a real bad injury that rendered his legs temporarily paralyzed so he was put on bed rest in the pack hospital, so he would watch Leah when Fae went to pack training. I think she still thinks that if she would have gone to see Wyatt that day they might have been fine and Leah would be here with her.  So when it gets real lonely we appreciate each other’s company, although still, Fae gets really sad thinking about them. Sometimes she'll take the day off to visit their resting place, and I’m grateful to her because I can forget the loneliness and I think she's riveting since most people can't live on after losing their mate⑊ "Xoila!" I stopped typing when I suddenly heard my name immediately answering, "Mande, Mama?"  "Xoila!!" She must have not have heard me I glanced back to my screen and finished my log for Meztli  I gotta go duty calls. Signed Xo⑊  •XOILA• I stood up closing my laptop and placing it on my desk. I turn to walk away but I catch a glimpse of something in the mirror that startles me making me jump I turn to look at it and much to my surprise  ugh I'm such a moron It's just my own reflection with a stupid surprised look on my face. I look on and scrunch up my nose at how ridiculous I could be sometimes. But then again you can never be too careful, I gave myself a once-over seeing my mom Lori’s small stature and skin tone my mom is a small woman standing proud at 5'3 with a honey-brown pixie cut, creamy tan-colored skin, and mahogany brown eyes that seemed to pierce your soul I have my dads Dark brown hair and green eyes My dad Morgan, Stark Pine’s packs beta is a very tall man 6'3 with broad shoulders  He's practically built like a linebacker He has deep green eyes, really tan skin, short brown curly hair with a fade. Dad always seems to have a stern look on his face and his lumberjack beard doesn't help the situation  He’s where I get my resting b***h face since he always looks angry even when he could be bursting with joy. Not everyone gets that but it’s okay because as long as mom, myself, and his best friend alpha Amith get him he probably doesn’t care. Since he’s the way he is people sometimes question how he’s such a good beta but if you pay close enough attention you would know he’s sort of a worrywart and he’s secretly a big softy. I mean I don’t really get how people don’t notice these things seeing as my mom always somehow manages to put herself in a life-threatening situation so, in my opinion, these traits make him the perfect beta. He balances out the playful Alpha like my mom balances the levelheaded Luna The Alpha is a werewolf's pack leader and Alpha Amith runs the pack fairly treating everyone with respect but likes to slack off so most of his duties fall on Beta Ardent (My Dad) and Delta Valu who is the pack's strategist that also specializes in safety,  security, and pack training (with the help of my dad). The Luna is basically the female Alpha but is referred to as Luna because female werewolves are more closely related to our deity and creator the Moon goddess who also created the Vampires  Like us, they have mates except they drink blood and well we have this ongoing feud with the vampires so they're like our ‘mortal enemies’. With these thoughts, I checked to see if I was okay to walk out of my room •3rd POV• Xoila was wearing gray joggers and a red t-shirt with the Deadpool logo on it, her dark brown hair tied in loose braids going past her shoulders. The redshirt really brought out the green in her droopy hazel eyes, over the course of this last year her lips seemed to have gotten plump and full  Xoila began to think to herself  I guess I'll be able to actually wear lip tint now  And she couldn’t help her curiosity as she thought I wonder if boys even look my way? Making her think back to her interactions with boys *FLASHBACK*  The sun was out and it was lunchtime Xoila was sitting under a tree reading a book waiting for Stacy her best friend at the time the alphas second born child. Xoila was on the 236th page when a shadow made the words too dark for her to read.  She stopped reading and she looked up and then she was drenched in soda "Xoila you're so ugly" she started to wipe her face "You'll never find a mate with that ugly face" once she got the soda off she looked at her attacker. Cadmar the Alphas son and his two goons Jake and Brice the Deltas 2 sons. She mentally rolled her eyes and was about to say something when all of a sudden a foot was coming towards Cadmars face at an astonishing speed. Landing square in his jaw with a loud thud sending him to the ground.  "CADMAR!!!" baffled he and the rest looked up to an angry Stacy who said, "Leave my best friend alone you fat head butt face!!!" Stacy walked to where Xoila was just staring Stacy giggled as she pulled her by the arm saying " Come on Xo let's get you cleaned up and into your gym clothes" Xoila simply just nodded and started to walk with her. But all movements came to a halt when Stacy stopped walking turned to look at Cadmar and his goons and said: " I'm telling dad!" Cadmars eyes widen in terror and Stacy triumphantly smiled as she said "b***h" Xoilas eyes widened and so did the smile that was tugging at her lips. Stacy just giggled and turning as they made their way to the girl's locker room. "Don't listen to my Stupid brother Xo you'll find your mate someday and hopefully so will I then we won't have to deal with Cadmars bullpoopie anymore" Xoila giggled and said "I know Stace you say that every time" *END OF FLASHBACK*  •XOILA• Well who knows I thought to myself "XOILA!!!" my head snapped to my door bringing me back from my thoughts and I quickly looked around the floor of my "mildly" messy room in my scope I spot my black and red slides. I quickly put them on and run out of my room making my way down the hall to mom's room.  I walked in and saw mom standing by the window peering behind the curtains clutching her stomach. "What's the matter Mom?" she turned to look away from the window for a moment the look in her eyes made me feel as if my blood ran cold sending a chill down my spine when she said  "Rouges"  My eyes widen and one man came to mind as my panic began to set in "Dads out there!" mom let out a shaky breath and one silent tear rolled down her cheek because she probably thought the same thing. I rushed to her side placing my hand on her shoulder her worry apparent and alarming because since she’s pregnant she shouldn't be under so much stress let alone out of bed Before I could offer her words of comfort her expression changed and went serious like when she was in Beta mode No matter how well she could hide it from everyone else I could see the hint of sadness in her eyes as she placed her small cold hand on my cheek  her hands were always soft but cold  For a second I couldn't handle the sadness coming from her What's she thinking  determination is what I saw next in her mahogany eyes as she said "Xoila I need you to--"  Loud Bangs were heard from downstairs followed by a crash letting us know that they got in. Fear was eating at my nerves as I clutched onto my mom who stared at the door to her bedroom wide-eyed  She quickly regained her composure and walked to the walk-in closet pulling me with her and opened the door. She pulled free from my grip and kissed me on the cheek and then moved one of the many shoe racks revealing a digital keypad next to a steel-enforced door she typed in a code I couldn't help but wonder  how come they never told me about something as important as this, like am I, not their daughter? My Mom then turned to look at me taking my attention back from my thoughts as I stared at the door "Xoila I want you to mask your scent before you go in, and remember you have nothing to worry about since this door has a special code that only myself, your dad, the Alpha, and the Luna know and no matter what you hear don't open the door" I panicked and turned from the door to look at her, I would have argued back but there was this look of finality in her eyes that left no room for discussion, tears welled up in my eyes and I ran to hug her.  Her arms wrapped around me and she rubbed my back as she said "I'll hold them back for as long as I can"  My eyes shot up to meet hers and this nagging feeling began to claw at me as I said "Mom... NO.. you can't--"  "Xoila"  She interrupted my objections and hugged me in a hug as tight as her stomach would permit her. "Mask your scent now" I did as she said  And looked at her feeling the fear burning in my chest as she said "I love you Xoila more than anything in this world" her eyes fogged over and a tear rolled down her cheek as she said "Dad loves you too... with all his heart Xo.. please stay strong"  I cried and hugged her just as hard the tears burning my throat as I said: "I love you guys too mom" My small mother held me at arm's length and smiled at me for the last time as tears ran down her face. "We will always love you Xoila" and she pushed me through the door closing it.
