FIVE YEARS EARLIER I sat in the lounge of the club house trying to block out the noise I could hear. One of the newest club members of my dad's MC, The Hard Riders, tried to cheat my dad out of a deal so they were taking care of things. I could hear him yell and scream and it brought back unhappy memories. I was five years old huddled into the corner of the living room and covered my head as my mother whipped me with a belt. "I'm sorry mommy!" I cried out. I don't know why I kept saying it because it never made her stop. After about the tenth sting of the belt hit my back she stumbled back and and threw it on the ground. "Clean this mess up" She hissed out and grabbed the bottle of Jack Daniels from the table. As she continued to stumble towards her bedroom she took a big swig from the bottle. I gingerly stood up wincing at the pain radiating through my back. I wiped my tears away from my cheeks and cleaned up the spilled glass of milk. I swept up the broken glass and threw it in the trash can. This whole thing had started because I tripped over one of my moms empty liquor bottles just as she happened to come out of her room for a new one. I grabbed wet and dry wash clothes and scrubbed the carpet trying to make sure there would be a smell later on. "Nic" I heard my dad say from behind me which brought me out of my memories. "Yeah dad?" I asked standing to face him. "He's ready for you" He said. I gave him a smile and walked towards him. I pulled my long blonde hair up into a bun in case the guy tried to pull at it. Sure I would be able to pin him but still it made things easier. I adjusted my black tank top and smoothed down my jeans before I entered the room. The club members all smirked at the guy as I entered. Even though he had been beaten to a pulp this prick had the nerve to scoff when I entered. "What the f**k is she going to do? Suck my d**k?" He asked which earned him another punch from my dad. I went to stand behind the man and brought his arms behind his back. I took both of his wrists in one hand and gave a little squeeze which earned a yelp from him. "What the f**k" He said as I tilted his head to the side. I ran my nose up and down the side of his neck taking a deep inhale of the blood flowing through his veins. I let my fangs extend before I plunged them into the side of his neck. He yelled in pain but I just moaned at the metallic liquid the pooled in my mouth. I closed my eyes and concentrated on his mind. I could see him talking to a man we all knew about the deal. I opened my eyes and gave my dad a thumbs up in question. It was our signal for whether I was okay to drain them or not. He nodded his head and I continued drinking till the last drop. During one of the few sober days my mom had she told me all about her life and everything that happened to the fairy species. You see I'm a vampire and fairy hybrid. My mother was a fairy who was taken captive when the Vampire King, my father Gabriel, usurped the fairy king and queen. She also told me how she had joined a wolf pack to follow her queen but left when they made a law banning vampires. She was afraid for her life considering she was pregnant with me. However that's when her rage would hit because they she would remind me how I took her away from her family and forced her to survive on her own. Blah blah blah. I only got two things from my fairy half, the ability to see people memories while drinking their blood and being the only vampire who was able to walk in the daylight. I also had a weird way of using a glamour, instead of being able to change my looks or my surrounds I was able to change my scent. Since we were in an area that had a high number of wolves I figure it would be best to always hide my vampire scent. Once the traitor was completely drained I dropped his body and wiped the corner of my mouth before looking at my dad. "It was Trashy Ray" I told him. He grunted and looked to a few of the prospects. "Get rid of the body then get Ray in here" My dad ordered. The prospects immediately got to work while we left the room. "Thanks baby doll" Dad said pulling me into a hug. "No problem" I said as he kissed the top of my head. When we separated the alarm on his phone went off and he silenced it before taking off his cut. "Gotta go Nic. I've got a meeting with a realtor about a new bar that we can also use as a club house" Dad said. "Okay good luck. I'm going to go with the prospects to make sure they don't mess anything up" I told him as he walked out of the door. I wasn't one of the typical club members, most of them treated the prospects like s**t but I didn't. I went back into the room and helped them clean up the mess. "Hey Nic" one of them said. "Hey where do you need me?" I asked him. "Can you help us carry him to the van?" He asked. I walked over and bent down to pull the body over my shoulder. I carried it out by myself as they got the van and the supplies we would need. Once the van was completely loaded we set out on the drive. "So I was wanting to ask. How did you wind up with Rodney?" The driver asked. I looked over to the driver and gave a sad smile. "My mother was an abusive b***h who hated my very existence because I was a constant reminder of what happened to her and what she had lost." I started tell them. "One night after she drank herself to sleep. I was playing quietly in my room just in case she did wake up and decided to beat me again. I could hear strange voices coming into the house. They moved silently but I could tell they were vampires" I told them. "How could you tell?" One of them asked. "So whenever you're around one of your own you just know" I said with a shrug of my shoulders. "Anyways my mother must not of have heard them because she was passed out. They were there to kill her and then take me. I very carefully opened my window and ran away. I ran as far as my little legs could take me before I was just to exhausted. I ended up sleeping in the ditch of the highway when I heard a motorcycle coming up." I continued. "I woke up and walked to the edge of the road when dad found me. He had just recently lost his own daughter so he said it was fate and kept me." I finished. "How did you tell him about what you are?" Another prospect asked. "Well I could only hide the fact that I needed blood to drink for so long so he eventually found out." I said. "I'm sorry you had to go through all that" The driver said. I just shrugged my shoulders as we reached our destination. We quickly got to work digging a deep hole. We dumped the body and covered it in lye then buried it. Once we got back I quickly showered before changing into a white t-shirt and black shorts. I put on my white tennis shoes and called my dad. "Hey dad can you transfer money into my account please? I want to go get ice cream" I told him. "Sure thing sweetie." He said. I could tell he moved the phone away from his mouth to ask someone if they knew any ice cream parlors. "Hey I'm bringing the realtor home with me. He said he can show you where to go" Dad said. "Okay see you soon. Love you" I said. "Love you too" He said before we hung up.
