“I need to ask you a favor”, he said to me.

“What?”

“I need you to pretend to be my fake wife.”

“For how long?” I sighed.

“That’s the problem, I don’t know”, he scratched behind his head and chuckled nervously.

“Any rules?”

“We don’t need any rules”, he smirked.

“You sure?”

“We fake dated before, this will be a piece of cake”, he shrugged.

Brittany's POV: "I need to tell you something", Andrew said to me as we were having dinner at a fine restaurant I booked earlier in the week since this was my first night off in a long time. "Yes", I smiled at him. We have been together for almost three years now, we been friends since university orientation when I got accepted into George Washington University to study forensic science. Andrew and I haven't started to date till the summer before senior year, late I know, but he dated a few girls and I only had like one boyfriend which only lasted about nine months. My father wasn't very please when I chose to go to George Washington University, but he was still supportive and so was Delia. Jen and Andy stayed together till the sophomore year in university then all of a sudden they broke up, they said it was because of distance but I knew it wasn't that. Jen finally told me the truth months later, it was because Andy been very close with this girl in his choreography class for about three months and got feelings for her; he even kissed her a few times. Well, that pissed me off, luckily Jen went to study across the states so she didn't have to see Andy very often, but when he graduated from Julliard he flew to Seattle and asked Jen for forgiveness. They started over, but Jen gave him a hard time to make it up to her and now they're living together somewhere in Atlanta. "I- I think we should break up", he stated. "What?" I gasped. "I don't think it is working out between us anymore, the busy schedule, only seeing each other mostly on weekends, you living in Brooklyn and I in New York, we're not even living together and been together for almost three years", he began, "your work is in New York, why do you even live here?" "I like Brooklyn, besides less than thirty minutes drive is not bad, we talked about this", I replied. "What if something happened to you while you're driving home late at night and you're tired?" He questioned. "I don't drive back you know that my family's house isn't far from where I work", I shrugged. "See? Another reason to stay in New York, you got used to living in a mansion and your room is always available when you stayed there." "I lived in New York all my life, I wanted to be live somewhere on my own away from there." "And Brooklyn was the perfect place right? Couldn't have gotten anything else more closely to New York", he said sarcastically. "What is your problem?" I snapped. "You can agree that we don't have that spark like we used to, ever since you started working things been going downhill." I sighed because he was right, his phone rang. "Hello", he answered. "Now?" He looked at his watch. "Give me about fifteen minutes, I'm actually in the Brooklyn", he hung up. "Who was that?" "A friend of mine, I have to go", he got up. "We haven't finish-" "I'll pay, it's the least I can do", he took out a hundred and fifty bucks from his wallet and put it on the table. "So you're just going to leave, just like that?" I said as my heart broke. "You know I am right about us babe, there are other guys out there who'll be willing to work with your busy schedule and likes to stay first base until they decide to put a ring on that finger", he said and left. My heart broke as the man I fell in love with walk out the door and my life. Everyone around me watched me with empathy. "Waiter", I called over the waiter, pay the bill with the money on the table, and left. I called my friend who I know would always be there when I need her. ***** "He was a jerk", Chelsea told me as I cried into my pillow. "He just left", I sniffed. "Stop crying over that douche bag, he doesn't deserve it and he looked like the cheating type as well", she added. I had my suspicion that there was a chance he can be cheating as well, seeing that we barely saw each other during the week, maybe three days for the most before the weekend. "Unto some other news, Zachary Grant is the new bachelor on New York magazine", she grinned, "when last you spoke to him?" "Over a year", I shrugged, since our siblings were close friends we saw each other a few times a year when we flew home for holidays or summer, then when I moved to Brooklyn I haven't seen Zack much since he moved to Los Angles. "Whoa, well I heard that he'll be in New York this weekend, maybe we can meet up with him", she suggested. "I don't know, I am not really up for it", I said. "No, you're not going to stay in here all weekend and sulk over some douche bag, you are going to dress up and meet our high school friend and also your ex fake boyfriend", she smirked. Chelsea and the rest of our friends were not happy when Zack and I told them that our relationship was fake, Chelsea was beyond pissed and didn't talk to me for two weeks. Jen and Andy ignored us for a few days but forgave us afterward. "I don't have a choice, do I?" I looked at her and she shook her head, "fine, I'll go, but only Saturday night and I am not planning to get drunk", I added. She chuckled. "Where's your boyfriend?" I asked her. "He's home, my best friend needed me", she smiled. She lived in Manhattan with her boyfriend of two years; she worked in the finance department at her family's business while her older brother ran that business that was located in Manhattan. "Are you staying the night? It is kind of late", I pointed out. The time was 9:30 pm. "I'm driving back, it wouldn't have traffic plus I have to be at work tomorrow before 8 am", she shrugged. "I'll be okay, you should get going", I stated. "Are you kicking me out?" She gasped. "What? No-" "I was just kidding", she laughed, "my boyfriend just texted me asking if I left yet", she got up, "I'll see you Saturday evening, most likely Zack will be staying at his parents' place so we'll convince him for us to hit a club Saturday night", she added. "What makes you think we'll be able to do that?" I frowned. "We're his friends, which will be enough", she assured me and left. I lived in a two-bedroom apartment, with a wide living room connected to the kitchen and there was a small dining table as well. My sister sometimes comes over for the weekend if dad and Delia wouldn't be home; Spencer was currently attending Princeton University. ___________ "Are you okay? You don't look so good", my colleague said the next day I entered Brooklyn's forensic lab, I was called to work here today on a case. This happened a lot. "Nothing a cup of coffee can't help with", I waved him off as I put on my coat. "Well here's our case", he handed me a file and we go to the table where the evidence was in clear plastic bags. We read the case and started to prepare our lab to analyze the evidence to see what we can find. 2 hours later I yawned as I dispose of my gloves and go to the lounge to make a cup of coffee and have a mid-morning snack. "Hey Brittany", my other colleague who I wasn't fond of much walked into the room, she was also in my class at George Washington University and had her eyes on Andrew ever since we got together. "Hey Emma", I replied. "You're not yourself today, boyfriend trouble?" She smirked and I ignored her. "You know Andrew and I hooked up once that time when you stayed at your parents' place a few months back, he invited me over to his place", she added. "What do you want Emma?" I snapped. "I just wanted you to know that Andrew cheated on you, he even came over at my place last night", she winked and left. "Andrew will not swoop so low to go with someone like you", I snapped. She turned around, "do you want evidence that Andrew and I slept together? Fine", she took her phone out of her coat pocket and turned it on, a few seconds later she handed it to me. I gasped, it was a picture of Andrew and Emma in a bed, topless although the sheets were covering them, Andrew was asleep on his back but that was him no doubt. "He got tired of waiting for you and I was happy to help him with his needs", she smirked and I glared at her. I slapped her hard across her cheek and she gasped, "you b***h!!" She shrieked. "You can keep that jerk, at least I wouldn't get whatever disease he got from you", I snapped, picked up my cup of coffee and left her there. Chelsea was right, he was the cheating type. **** "Brittany, my office now", my boss said to me as I was about to leave for my lunch break. I entered the office and sat down, "miss Wills complained that you assaulted her earlier", he began. That little..... "I can explain", I said. "She also said you did it on purpose because you couldn't control your emotions", he added. She deserved it. "Are you going to fire me?" I started to panic. "No, you're a hard-working person and put your all everyday also you were the top of your class, firing you would make us look back", he explained. "What are you going to do then?" "Suspension for a week." "A week? Just because I slapped the bit-" "Miss Rogers control yourself, you may go on your lunch break and finish up today's work, your suspension starts after you leave tonight", he stated. "Is that all?" "Also, next time control yourself", he added and I left. I bumped into Emma as I was going to the exit. "Next time don't mess with me b***h", she sneered near my ears. "You deserve it", I whispered and pushed her aside. _____________________________________ Hope you enjoy reading this book. Check out my new book, The Billionaire's Ex Girlfriend
