Prologue
"Avrielle!" I sighed heavily after hearing that familiar voice shouting my name in the middle of the busy street of San Lucas. When I turned my head, I saw Katherine's furious face. "What the heck do you need?" Kathy took heavy steps towards me while giving me a death glare. "Don't go in there! Why would you show yourself and let yourself get humiliated?" "I need to be there, for myself. For my dignity!" "I don't agree with that! You can save yourself from further humiliation by not going there, Avie!" Kathy insisted. "Just let them, forget them! Let's leave this place, come on." My forehead creased because of that. "No. I won't let them ruin my name just like this. I won't let them mock me without fighting back. I should take my revenge to gain my reputation back." I replied. Katherine sighed deeply. "Avie, you don't have to do this s**t. If Wilson doesn----" "Don't speak his name. He's an as*hole! He should be the one to be mocked and humiliated." I butted in, before releasing a smirk. "I will show him how he changed me," I said. "Avie..." "You cannot stop me, Kathy. Just let me do this instead, after this, I swear I'll be back to who I truly am." I said before turning my back on her and continued my way towards the biggest bar in San Lucas---The Night Light. The bouncers were about to stop me from going in yet I immediately pulled out my VIP pass, which was given by my ex-fiance, whose the owner of this Bar. The bouncers cannot do anything. A lot of people were lining up behind me so they cannot stall me like this. "Let me in. I have my pass, and it's valid." "But---" "What the heck is making the line too long?!" Shouted by a man behind that caught the bouncer's attention. The two bouncers looked at each other who seemed to have a personal dilemma, but then they still opened the door. When I was about to enter, one of the bouncers took a step closer. "Ma'am, please don't do anything stupid inside." Instead of answering, I just released a mocking smile towards him before stepping inside the dark vicinity of the Bar. The transition of lights is actually annoying me but then, since I am inside a bar, it is of course understandable. I continued walking towards the counter and ordered a tequila. The bartender attended me immediately and when done getting my order, I started walking around while slipping a bit of my drink. My eyes were busy looking for some people whom I know are here now, and when I found them, it was as if my blood boiled in rage. Seeing my ex-fiancé together with his damn friends who tolerated his cheating is making my heart boil in anger. They're evil for making me look like a fool! I stayed at the corner while still my eyes were on them, spying their every actions, when suddenly, someone's arm enveloped my ex's shoulders. When I checked the owner of the arm, my anger doubled. It was that b***h. "Hey miss, wanna have some company?" A certain maniac jack-as$ get closet to me while holding a bottle of whisky in his right hand. Its obvious that he is hitting on me, but sorry I'm not here to play around. I'm here to revenge! "Don't need it. I can accompany myself," I said before leaving that jerk in there. "Too stubborn!" I heard the jerk shouted while leaving away and I just shrugged my shoulders. I put my attention back at my ex-fiancé's side when suddenly the loud music stopped and the blinking lights also halted, replaced by a very bright white light focus on them. Everyone also stopped whatever they are doing. I was glad I stopped between a lot of people so it's sure that they couldn't spat me. I was waiting for whatever might happen when I saw Wilson---which is my ex---kneeled down in front of that b***h he cheated on me with, while holding a blue velvet box in his hand. My mind already knows what's going to happen because of the scene I am actually looking at right now, but my heart is silently wishing that what I'm thinking is wrong. Wilson looked at the woman lovingly with a bright smile in his face. "Amara Suzette Dawson, you are the woman I decided to spend the rest of my life with. I love you with all my heart, and I cannot wait to replace your current surname with mine. Amara, will you be my wife?" He asked, sounding so pure and genuine. And as if with a cue, my tears rolled down from my eyes. And it doubled even more when the girl named Amara, answered 'yes' to him, followed by their hug and the claps from the people around us. My tears continued to roll down when a loud cheer from his friends enveloped the entire place, followed by a sweet music played by the DJ. Everyone around me is having a smile on their faces, while those who have partners started dancing around. While me, crying my heart out. I cannot believe that after 2 years of being engaged, just after 2 weeks of separation, he already decided to spend the rest of his life with his new woman. My tears continued to roll down when a hand suddenly appeared in front of me. When I look at the owner, I saw a man who looked unfamiliar at all, whose looking at me without any emotion. "Care to have a dance with me?" He asked. His voice is deep, yet it sounds gentle in my ears. I just cannot believe why he's offering me a hand, not minding how I awfully looked right now since I am crying hard. I don't even know if he know my name or me at all. "Let's dance away your heavy feeling," He said before holding my hand and put it above his shoulders, then he guided me towards the center, and we slowly danced together with the soft music. And while dancing, I realized who he was. He was that jerk who asked if I need company earlier. The one I ignored. And with a heavy heart because of the scene I just witnessed, I can't believe that I found myself dancing with a jerk.
