"I admit it. I was afraid to love him. He was the ocean, and I was just a girl who loved the waves but was just too terrified to swim."

I'm Amelia. I've just started my senior year at high school and I live in a normal town with my pretty normal family and I guess you could say I was a very normal girl, nothing special at all.

And I thought everything was going to stay that way but as I started my senior year things began to start changing, and the timid school girl I was finally started to change.

But this tale isn't all about the changes I go through, it's about who changed me.

Luca Millar, he was bad. He smoked a lot and alcohol was one of his closest friends, he was cocky and arrogant, he broke the law frequently and he drove way to fast for his own good. And he didn't care one tiny little bit because no one ever taught him how to.

But spending more time with him made me realise that there was way more to Luca that first met the eye, a couple of real dark tales hidden beneath the surface of this supposedly perfect bad boy.

And I tried not to fall for him, but I suppose I just could not help myself.

He made me feel as though he would kill to protect me, a girl who cared about someone as worthless as him in all her perfection. I knew this all wasn't true, and many people told me so. He was just playing a game.

I just really wanted my tale to end without the pain. And deep down I always secretly knew that there would never be anyone else.

It was only him.

Chapter 1- Luca Millar
Amelia's P.O.V The summer holidays seemed, to begin with, to go too slowly. But now, as they drew to an end, I felt like I had blinked and they were over. It was morning, and I wasn't the best morning person. A school morning, a Monday school morning to be exact. So, it was quite plainly awful, Monday, school, morning and to add to it all I was running late. My parents and brothers were out of the house already. My parents were both research-based doctors and they worked long hours, often out of state and across the globe. This was one of those occasions so I was left under the care of my three older brothers. Clayton was the oldest, 21, he was in college but still lived in the house as it was nearby- plus apartments in my city were either super expensive or in rack and ruin. James and Peter were twins, but non-identical, they were both nineteen turning twenty soon and both were going to join the army this summer. My brothers looked out for me the best they could but to be honest they never really needed to, I didn't get into trouble. No drinking, smoking or partying. I had been raised in a very religious household so it wasn't just that I was boring but I had been told my whole life to stay away from the temptations of being 'bad'. At my school, there was a huge thing about being 'bad'- it was an instant recognition of popularity. I never understood how talking s**t to teachers and spending half your life in detention got you anything more than a scolding from your parents. But in my school all the girls seemed to crowd around the 'bad boys', it just wasn't for me though. As the new semester started I knew all that was important was acing my classes and concentrating on my life. And I wasn't planning on starting of the term by being late but it was already nine o'clock as I rushed out the door, car keys in one hand and a half-eaten piece of cold toast in the other. I fumbled with the keys as I climbed into my brother's old pick-up truck dropping them on the floor as I tried my best to push my book filled bag into the passenger seat. I sighed to myself picking them up and pulling out the driveway slowly. I tried my best not to speed but I wasn't planning on ruining my perfect attendance record just because I slept in on the first day of school. Traffic was awful and I beeped my horn frustrated as I sat in the unmoving rows of rush hour. Annoyingly even though I drove as fast as I could I pulled into the school car park at half past nine. School started at quarter past and although I was only fifteen minutes late in the school's eyes it was still late. I headed to the reception office to pick up a late pass and fill in the late form. The school corridors were empty of their usual gaggles of girls, bulks of jocks and groups of nerds. It was just me. Hundreds of lockers, red blue and green lined the walls. I walked to my locker quickly, it was quite near the reception, and I picked up my books for the morning lessons. I ran into the reception a few minutes later. "You're late," said the receptionist. Well, no s**t Sherlock... This was what I really wanted to say but instead, I just mumbled out "sorry, there was traffic." "Please fill in the late pass, miss......?" said the receptionist. "It's Amelia, Amelia Messer," I said quietly as I picked up the late form. I sat down on the chairs opposite the desk and started to fill in the late form. name: Amelia Jane Messer Age: 17 Date: 3.8.12 Time arrived: 8.40 Reason: I left my house at 8 but there was terrible traffic. As I filled out the form I heard a massive crash from outside in the hallway. "What the hell is going on out there!" said the receptionist. She stood up and walked outside into the hallway as the crashing noise continued. "Luca Millar, Will Dean get into the reception office now!" I heard the receptionist shout. I looked down at my form again as the two boys and a very angry receptionist came back in. "You boys wait here while I go get the headmaster," she said. The boys laughed as they leaned against the reception desk. The one on the left, he was smaller, blond hair and tanned skin. The other was bulky, tall and dark. He had paler skin but was still very tanned and had high cheekbones. He was the better looking of the two, but not by much. "Luc mate, that was awesome," said the blonde haired one. So, Will was the blonde, Luca or Luc was the darker haired one. You may think it was odd that I hadn't a clue who they were but guys in the school never really spoke to me and I didn't really speak to them either. Although their names did sound very familiar. This school was so full of people, I swear I saw a new person every day. "Water balloon fight was a classic," said Luca. "Continue?" said Will. "Sure" grinned Luca. I watched on in horror as the boys continued their water balloon fight. Will chucked a balloon at Luca but he dodged it and grinned. The balloon hit the desk knocking of several papers and sending a desk lamp flying. "Haha, smooth Luc, but not smooth enough" Will grinned cheekily. "Oh really?" said Luca "Hell yeah" grinned Will Will started to pelt Luca with smaller water balloons. In retaliation, Luca tried to throw one back but his vision was blocked by the water splashing into his face. It all happened in slow-motion. As Luca hurled a massive water balloon at Will the headmaster and receptionist came out the main office. Will turned to face the two very angry staff, as he turned the water balloon just brushed his left ear. It then flew straight past him hit my square in the face. I stood up, my hair dripping wet, ready to scream at Luca and Will but the headmaster stepped in before I could. "How dare you have a water balloon fight in my school, how very childish!" exclaimed the headmaster. "How dare we? well we just thought that the halls were looking quite dirty and needed a clean-up sir" said Luca smirking. Will high-fived Luca and turned back to the fuming headmaster. "Don't you dare give me cheek Mr. Millar, detention, the three of you, my office at four o'clock." "But" I started "No excuses, no exceptions, I'm ashamed of you Miss Messer, clean record and all" scowled the headmaster "But," I said again "Back to class, now!" he said sternly. The three of us turned on our heel and walked out of the room. Luca and Will laughed as they walked out the reception, I walked behind them, my head down, determined to slip away. "Where do you think you're going?" said Luca I stopped, cursing under my breath I slowly turned around. "To class," I said "I'll catch you later Luc, I'm dying for a smoke," said Will. "Bye D*ckweed" shouted Will. A teacher stuck his head out a nearby door. "Mr. Millar, if I hear you say that word again let alone shout it I will put you in detention," said the teacher. "M'kay sir," said Luca. He turned and winked at me after the teacher disappeared inside his classroom. It was odd that all the teachers seemed to know Luca Millar personally, all I knew for sure was that it wasn't for good reasons. "What's your name?" he asked "What's it to you?" I asked coldly "Oh, don't be so cold to me," said Luca "I'm gonna bug you till you tell me" he smirked as I shook my head. As he turned his head I could see a number of hickies leaving a trail down his neck, obviously, some s**t had ravished at him like some love-struck vampire. "I'm going to class" I scowled at him. "I'll walk you" he smirked again. I sighed and walked off briskly, the quicker I walked the less time I'd have to spend with Luca Millar. "So, what's your name?" he pestered me again. "Amelia Jane Messer, but people just call me Lia," I said. "Well I won't call you Lia, I shall call you shorty" he said. "Why?" I asked raising my eyebrows. "Because your small and I do what I want" he smirked. I scowled and kept walking. "So, why have I never met you before?" he asked. "Why all the questions?" I asked him. "Because, I do what I want okay, got a problem with it?" he said. "No and God is that your catchphrase or something" I sighed. "Nope, answer the question?" he said "I guess I'm either not interesting enough, not popular enough or not hot enough," I said going red "Trust me, baby, you got all the hot I could ever need, the wet t-shirt look is good on you" he smirked making me blush harder. I stared down at my clothing. I had worn a white t-shirt and a floral skirt this morning, but I had put on a lacy b*a not realizing I was going to be in a wet t-shirt contest when I arrived. Luca was staring at my chest as well and he sucked in through his teeth as he continued to stare. "Lace, my favourite," He said making my cheeks blush bright red again, what a creep! I pulled a jumper out of my bag and pulled it on angrily. Luca pouted and smirked as he caught my eye. "This is my class" I said. "Ah, m'kay shortcake," he said leaning up against the wall smirking. "Goodbye Luca," I said. As I turned toward the door to go to my class hoping never to see Luca Millar again he spoke one last time. "Until detention shorty" he winked.
