His grip was firm around my throat, I hated and craved it at the same time. He was nosing down my neck and I knew I had already lost this fight before it began.

A single glide of his long tongue over my throbbing, scent gland had me shuddering and clutching his large biceps for strength.

His grin was wicked, taunting and knowing as his fingers traced the edge of my soaked panties. “Knew you’d be dripping for me, you always do. You might not want me, but your body clearly begs to defer.”

1: The Start of Her Downfall
Bree’s POV Tears streamed down my cheeks, wetting my dress as I stared at my mate, Dax, whom I loved with all of my heart, as I tried to comprehend all that he was saying to me right now. “Look, Bree, I'll be honest with you. The only reason why I got mated to you was because of your powers,” he revealed, further tearing my heart to shreds as I clutched my chest in pain. “I knew how useful it'd be to have an ability like yours at my beck and call. I mean, who wouldn't take that chance?” All I could do was sob as I looked into the eyes of the man who once claimed to be in love with me. He claimed he'd always love me and treat me like a Queen. He told me that he adored the ground that I walked and that nothing else mattered to him but me. What happened to that alpha? As he berated me some more, I clenched my fists in agony. I never imagined that there'd come a day when my perfect life would abruptly morph into my worst nightmare before I could even blink. But it did. That nightmare was now my reality. I took my mind back to how it had all started; that fateful morning. As the Luna Queen of my Pack, I was in a meeting with the members of the council of elders. My mate, Dax, was absent as he was locked in a meeting in a different Pack not too far from ours. In the middle of the meeting, I felt something strangely off and I knew that all was not well. Yet, I fought back the feeling, trying to push it aside so I could at least be done with the meeting but the more I tried, the harder it got. So I took a deep breath, knowing that my instincts were never wrong. Each time they told me that there was a problem, I always found it to be true. “Elders, there is something that I have to take care of,” I said to the council, who were probably tired of asking the same questions thrice due to my distracted state. “Hold on. I'll be right back.” Quickly, I shut my eyes and utilised the power of teleportation. I let my mind take me to the place that I had to be and behold, I spotted a bunch of Rogues, seven they were, surrounding some members of my Pack in a bid to abduct them. “Why don't you pick on someone your own size?” I folded my arms with a smirk on my face as the Rogues turned to face me. “Who the hell are you and how did you get here?” One of the men laughed, pointing his finger at me as the others joined him. “I'd ask you to leave now, woman. We are gentlemen. We wouldn't want to hurt a lady now, would we?” “Why don't you try?” I dared them, taking bold strides towards them as they stared at me in shock. They must have thought that I'd be scared of them, that I'd cower before them and flee before they'd hurt me. What they didn't know was that they were the ones who ought to be scared of me; a lesson that I was so keen to teach them. The man who looked like their leader pointed at two of his men and ordered them to get me. They charged at me like headless chickens only to have me evade their attack and smite them hard on the face. With a snap of my fingers, their swords fell off their hands and they stepped back, terrified, watching to see what their leader would do. “Would you want a bit of that too?” I asked their leader who tried to keep calm despite his fears. But I could see behind the coldness in his stare. With cold sweat building up on his face, it wasn't so hard for me to tell that he almost s**t his pants. But pride always had a way with men. He and his men charged at me with all of their might and I stood, a huge grin on my face as they drew close. Before they could get to where I stood, I tapped into my powers and pinned them all to a large tree behind me as their swords fell to the ground. They struggled to break free and when they couldn't, they reluctantly resorted to pleading. “Please, let us go. I promise we won't hurt anyone ever again,” their leader begged. “We'll go far away from this Pack, never to return. Mercy, I beg of you.” It was too late. The time for mercy was over. If they wanted it so badly, they'd have left whilst they had the chance. Besides, they were only telling lies. Rogues would never embrace a life of peace. It just wasn't in their nature and we all knew that. “Thank you so much, Luna,” the members of the Pack whom I had just saved ran to me, pouring out their hearts in gratitude. As I headed back to the throne room, after the Rogues had been arrested by our warriors, Pack members walked behind me, singing praises as we walked. “Our Luna Queen is brave and mighty,” they sang excitedly. “No one can stand her power and might.” I tried to contain the excitement inside me but I couldn't. I loved it when they chanted my name. The sound of their voices as they showered praises on me deeply pleased me. But it wasn't because I loved to be extolled. It was because it made me feel loved and wanted by the people. They were never shy to show just how much they valued me and it meant so much to me when they did. My gladness knew no bounds. But it wasn't always that way. I was born an Omega and unlike the other wolves in the Pack, I was without a Wolf. Everyone else looked at me condescendingly and I couldn't help but feel so insecure. I found it hard to make friends or to relate with my peers. The times that I tried, they always reminded me that I was wolfless whenever we had a quarrel and it made me shrink back into my shell. It was so bad that when I finally discovered my powers, I felt like a freak. No one else I knew could do the things that I could so it made me draw back from others even more. I hid my powers. I pretended that I wasn't any different from what I used to be, just so the people wouldn't treat me even worse than they already did. But Dax, my mate, wouldn't have it. “Your powers are a blessing and not a curse,” he'd always say to me. “They're to be embraced and not put away, Bree.” “But they make me feel like a freak, Dax!” I countered. “Why do I have to be so different from the others?” “Because you're different, Bree. You're unique and you're perfect in every sense,” he assured me, planting a kiss on my forehead. “Don't deprive the world of your gift. You can make so much difference with it.” Dax always had his way with words. They struck so deeply in my heart, entirely changing the way I saw myself and we hadn't even started dating. Before we dated, I always had a crush on him but I was too shy to admit it as I thought he'd push me away without giving it a second thought. Twice, I made up my mind to tell him, twice I failed, always freezing at the last moment and finally letting out a greeting. But Dax, my sweet Dax; he knew exactly how to go for what he wanted and he did. He approached me and confessed that he loved me. He looked into my eyes as he spoke those words and my heart melted in several ways. I accepted him that instant. I didn't think twice. It was no use playing hard to get. Not when my heart longed for him. Not when I had prayed to the Moon Goddess for the chance to make him mine. It was a chance I had to grab with both my hands. We dated for a while and then we mated. Our first night was the best night of my life and I hoped for many more. All the times I spent with Dax were the best of my life. From then onwards, happiness was all that I knew. Yet, I was sceptical. I didn't know if the Pack members would accept a wolfless Omega as their Luna Queen. But they did. They ended up loving me immensely because I always looked out for them, using my powers to protect them from our enemies. Once the rogues have been arrested, I was on my way to the throne room when I became too weak and fell to the ground in an unconscious state. When I reopened my eyes, I found myself in the infirmary, with the nurse, Celine, standing beside me as I lay on the bed. “You're awake, my Queen,” she said with a smile. “I'm so happy to see that you're alright.” “Where… What am I doing here?” I asked, looking around and wondering how I got there. “The guards brought you here to be taken care of after they met you lying unconscious on the ground. You must have been drained after using your powers,” she revealed, prompting me to hold my head with my right hand as the memories began to return. “I have good news for you,” she giggled and sat beside me as our gazes locked. “You're pregnant, my Queen.” “What? Me? How?” I asked, over the moon by the news I had just heard. “Are you sure?” She nodded and I threw my hands up in the air with tears of joy flowing down my cheeks. It'd been three years without a child and my Joy knew no bounds. Dax was all I could think about. He had waited so patiently for that moment and I couldn't wait to break the news to him. So I thanked the nurse and rose from the bed, eager to meet up with Dax whom I presumed was still in a meeting with another Pack. I hoped to get back early enough so that I could welcome him with the best news in a long time. So I left… When I got to the house, I was surprised to find the door locked. He usually left it open whenever I wasn't home, just so I wouldn't have to unlock it myself. He loved me that much. Thankfully, I had my keys with me. I dipped my hand into my pocket and took them out, unlocking the door and heading into the house so that I could get some rest before he'd return. But as I got close to our room, I heard some sounds emanating from there and froze. Dax was around. I could tell that the voice was his but he was not alone. There was someone else; a woman and they weren't just talking in there. They were moaning. I quickly shook my head. I was likely mistaken. Dax would never do that. He'd never get entangled with another woman. He loved me more than anything else. He said his life had no meaning without me. Gently, I pushed the door open and behold, Dax, my mate was ramming his member into Gina, a woman whom he claimed was just his best friend, on our matrimonial bed. “Dax!” I yelled with my hand over my mouth. “What is going on?”
