The Second Star (Book Three of the Star Series)

My name is Arcturus Starr Jackson. I'm sure you know who I am by now. I'm the youngest son of Georgia Starr and Donovan Jackson. King and Queen of the supernatural. Most people know me as one of the triplets. I am the only male triplet born to a supernatural in over a thousand years. That we know of anyways. So I'm use to getting alot of attention. See we are hybrids, me and my siblings. We are a mix of wolf, vampire, fae and witch. I have more vampire traits than I do of any of the others. Which is kind of odd because dad is a full werewolf. So everybody figured the wolf gene would dominate the rest. But not in my case. I'm different from my siblings. I can read minds. The wolves can all think each other but I can see inside every person I've ever meets mind. Today I am turning thirteen. But I have already fully matured. That is a trait of the vampire. Mom said she was the same way. Everybody says I look old enough to be my big brother Johnny's twin. Hes almost three years older than me. But me and him look closer in age than I do my sisters. And I'm fine with that. See Johnny has been with Ariel forever. My parents found out when they were young from my great grandmother who is a witch and can see into the future. So all the girls who want Johnny always end up by my side. So it's a win win for me. See I have the best of both worlds. I'm very popular with the kids my age and I even have alot of friends that hang out with Johnny. Since I am more mature and look older than what I am they dont mind hanging put with me too. I wake up to my phone buzzing off the hook. I grab it off my nightstand and see about twenty happy birthday texts from kids at school. I groan and set the phone back on the nightstand and get up to start the day. The pack will be going to training soon. But I think I'm going to skip it. My best friend is actually coming in today for our party and I want to be here to greet her. See I can read minds and I have known that shes had a crush on me for years. I thought it was great because she is Johnny's age and now I can feel myself having feelings towards her too. I jump up and shower quickly and get dressed. I head down to breakfast knowing if I dont get their soon there will be nothing left. One thing about us wolves is we can eat. I start down the hall when a shirt flies into my face. "What the hell?" I say and see Siri and Bella, the other part of us triplets, staring at me. "Sorry." Bella says. "I'm not. That is my shirt and you know it." Siri yells. "Girls, who cares. Dont you all have like a million shirts?" I say throwing the shirt back at Siri. "That's not the point." Siri says. "Whatever I dont even care." Bella says as she turns away to head downstairs. "Are you guys going to training?" I ask. "And mess up my look. No thank you." Siri says and I laugh and look at Bella walking in front of us. "What about you?" She shakes her head but doesnt say anything. She has always been the quiet more reserved one of us all. We head into the kitchen when we hear mom talking. "Oh it's something very special to me. Something grandpa gave me when I was younger. And actually your getting one too. So i cant say anything else." mom says. "Wait, Johnny is getting a present on our birthday? How is that fair?" Bella asks as we all walk in for breakfast. "It is a present that I have been trying to decide when to give you all and tonight seems like the right night. I know it's your birthdays but Johnny is included in this. Dont worry. You will have plenty of presents. And johnny is only getting one." Mom say and Johnny sticks out his tounge as Ariel smacks him on the arm. We eat breakfast and Johnny and the guys head off to train and the girls head off to school. I head outside to the wait for Kaley. I lay on the porch and look up at the sky. I must have fell back asleep because the next thing I remember is the most beautiful voice. "You know just because you look like a vampire it doesnt mean you can fly." I c***k a smile and keep my eyes closed. "I can dream though cant I?" I say. "I suppose. But best to be careful what you dream when other people can look into your mind." She says and lays next to me. I open my eyes then to see Kaley laying next to me. I havent seen her in about six months and goddess does she look beautiful laying her next to me. "I heard that." She says smiling wide and she leans over and gives me a soft kiss on the lips. And I swear I almost thought my heart would explode. That was my first kiss and I am on cloud nine that it was with Kaley. See the other girls are always all over me. But I have never once been physical in anyway with any of them. "So have you been waiting for me?" She asks as she props herself up on her arm. "That I have. I thought we could go take a swim or just hang out before the party." I said. "Wheres your parents?" I ask realizing I havent even paid attention that I havent noticed them. "They are already inside with yours." She gets up and reaches her hand down to me. "Come on. I havent kicked your butt in Mario in a while." She says as she pulls my arm so I'm standing. We head inside to the rec room and turn on the video game system. We sit and talk and play for hours when the rest of our friends and pack members come in. Rocky and Chet jump onto the couch with us and we all start to take turns. The girls come in and they are dresses for a ball and I look ag my watch. "Holy crap I need to get dressed." I look at the other three on the couch. "You guys too." I rush into the closet that is in the rec room that mom keeps stocked with clothes for every occasion. She knows I have a tendency to lose track of time and this makes it easier when I do. When I come out all dressed and ready I see that everybody is here ready for tonight's festivities. And Johnny and Ariel walk in. "Ok ladies and germs. We ready?" he asks. "Of coarse we are ready." Siri says. "We've been ready since we got home from school." Bella says laughing like it should have been obvious. "Ok well we have one last thing to do. Dad and mom say you need escorts. Mom says it's important so you three need to pick somebody to escort you to the stage." He says and looks around the room at all our friends that are sitting here. I look around and smile knowing we have such great friends and family. And I know exactly who will escort me. Kaley is the future vampire queen. She is Uncle Kaydens second daughter. His oldest daughter Kara took over as the fae superior because she was mated to the best fae warrior. And she will be my escort. Then there is our cousins, Axel and Aaron. Aaron is on track to being our packs finest warrior. Hes the only one Johnny hasnt beat in training right off the bat. It was a good match. Axel is training to be pack beta. Which is fitting since his dad was dads beta and his mom is dads sister. Ariel and her brother Rocky. Rocky is a prankster. Hes always joking around and doing what he can for a laugh. And lastly Jenny and Chet. Jenny is the future delta and her little brother Chet is a jokester like Rocky. When those two are together you have to watch your back. There was one time that they were trying to prank Johnny and dad walked in instead. He was covered in honey and feathers. It was so funny. But dad didnt think so. "Well, that's easy I'll be Arcs escort." Kaley jumps up. "And I'll escort Siri." Rocky says already by her side like he always is. "Ok so which one of you guys are gonna escort Bella?" Johnny asks looking over at Aaron, Axil, and Chet. "I would but I'm running security with dad." Axil says. Chet looks nervous and like hes going to say something when Aaron speaks up. "Well, I suppose I'll do it." He says walking over to Bella. "Oh thanks. Dont sound too happy about it." Bella says. "Hey your my cousin. Even though there will be lots of young girls wanting a piece of me I would choose helping you over hanging out with them." He says. Johnny and Axil start laughing. "Yeah like all the girls are wanting a thirteen year old that plays pranks all day." Johnny says. "Hey they are out there." Aaron says and we all laugh. Except for Chet. Not only does he look nervouse but he looks mad. I shrugged it off and motion at the door. "Let's go. It's time." Its five o'clock and the guests are all in the ballroom mingling and snacking on the snacks the omegas are walking around with. Dad and mom are standing on the stage in the front of the room waiting for us to arrive. Johnny and Ariel go in and give the signal that we are outside ready. Dad steps up to the mic with mom next to him. "I want to welcome everybody who is joining us today in the celebration for the triplets birthday. Knowing that we have so many friends and family that are there is very reassuring." Everybody claps and dad motions for everybody to quiet down. "We are here to celebrate the kind, caring children that we have watched grow into these beautiful mature people. Please welcome," he says and the back door opens and the lights dim down as a spotlight shines at the door. "Prince Arc and his escort Princess Kaley." Everybody claps as we walk through the door and head towards the stage. "Princess Siri and her escort, Rocky." Siri and Rocky walk in next and I hear all the male teens thoughts about her beauty. I wonder if Rocky is picking up on their thoughts. He admitted that he thinks she us his mate but I havent told anybody. More like I read it in is thoughts. And to be honest these guys thoughts were making me uncomfortable so who knows how hes feeling right now. "And last but not least, Princess Bella and her escort and cousin Prince Aaron." Dad says. And once again I hear the teens think of her beauty. I hear a fant growl from behind me in the crowd. I look around to see where it came from. It wasnt a threatening growl but a possessive one. The only reason somebody would growl that way is if their mate was being given unwanted attention. "Screw this." I hear Chets thoughts over everybody's and see him leave through the back door. We are all up on the stage and our escorts go to stand off to the side. "At this time I would like to ask future alpha and King Johnny to join us on stage." Mom says. He walk up and stands next to me. "These four are the reason that I live. They are my life. I know that they will all grow to do great things in their lives. And I couldnt be prouder of them. I would like to present a gift to my children." Mom says and everybody is listening intently. Aunt Erin rolls out a small stand with the four presents that are wrapped sitting on top. "When I was a girl, before i knew of my powers my father gave me four charms that I wore on a bracelet. These charms are meant to enhance your natural powers. They helped me bring back my wolf, they helped me bring back the fae warriors, and they helped me learn to control my magic. They made me faster and stronger. And I would like to bestow them to you." I look down at moms wrist and see that the bracelet she is always wearing isnt there. I look over to Johnny questioning if he knew why amd he looked just as confused. "I know that all of you have different traits and you all carry my powers. But certain ones have shown dominance. So I have wrapped each of my charms and you will all choose one. We have been training each of you and this is more of a test to see if we have been on the right track to tour futures." She says and motions Johnny over. He takes the one in the center. I go up and grab the one to the right and the girls chose from the other two. "I ask the escorts to please step on stage and open the box and place the charm around their necks." Mom says as Ariel, Kaley, Rocky, and Aaron step on stage. They take the boxes from us and walk behind us. "Close your eyes." Dad instructs and I do as he says. I feel a necklace being placed around my neck. And as soon as it is clasped my eyes pop open as a bright light engulfs me. I feel like I'm going to panic until Kaley places her hand on my back. I relax and then I can feel it. I cant explain what is happening. I can feel my sences growing stronger. I can feel the strength in me growing. I feel powerful. I feel unstoppable. But I can also feel the pack link going away. It's like I'm losing capabilities to gain others. The light starts to dim and I can see the crowd. Mom rushes over to us. "Are you ok? I didnt know that would happen." Mom say and dad is looking us over for any sign something is wrong. "Mom, it's amazing. It feels like I'm whole." Johnny says and I cant help butagree. "Hes right it feels like there was always something missing but now I feel right." Siri says. I look down and see that I'm wearing the heart. Johnny is wearing the wolf. Bella is wearing the rose. And Siri is wearing the star. Mom steps up to the microphone and proudly announces. "Johnny Starr Jackson - Future alpha and King - wearer of the werewolf charm. Arc Starr Jackson- wearer of the vampire charm. Balla Starr Jackson- wearer of the fae charm. And Siri Starr Jackson- wearer of the warlock charm." The crowd erupts in cheers and after everybody calms the music starts to play. We climb down off the stage and start to dance. I'm dancing with Kaley of coarse but that doesn't stop other girls from cutting in. I can hear their thoughts. And they are all saying the same thing. "Why is she always with him when shes here? Who does she think she is? She is so pale and weird looking. I'm prettier than her." And honestly their thoughts are angering me. Kaley is the one person besides my family that has always been by my side. And honestly she is the only one I want by my side. I step away from the other girls and grab Kaleys hand. I pull her in close to me and I plant my lips on hers. I hear all the girls gasp and I block their thoughts. "What was that for?" She says. "I just had to show those girls what was up." I said as we start to dance. "Yeah I heard them. But I'm use to it. They have been saying it since as long as I can remember." She admits and that doesnt sit well with me. "So, how about we go have our own party then. We dont need everybody else." I say. "Sounds good to me." She answers and we head out of the ball room to enjoy the rest our evening without the thoughts of jealous girls.
