The unknown

The alarm clock beeped loudly. She hurriedly switched it off fearing she would wake her uncle and aunt up. She washed up and got ready for the day. She looked up at the calendar it was 17 of July. Tomorrow will be the day everything would change because it her birthday her 16th birthday. She slowly walked down the stairs. So she wouldn't wake anyone up. She stepped on the floor of the hallway and it made a creaky noise. She was just inches away from the door,you can do it Mia she told herself. Than she heard a door open upstairs, she ran towards the door to open it. She opened the door and ran down the streets as if her life depended on it. She reached the near by forest. But She didn't stop running. She ran and ran and ran until she reached the middle of the forest. She took in mornings fresh air and laid down on her back.It was still a little bit dark outside and you could see sun rising and its rays passing through the fog and the trees.It was so beautiful. It is a small town called Sunnydale. It was the most beautiful and perfect place for her and her little brother. They were twins. They were so happy to move in here. But everything turned upside down when her family was killed and her brother went missing on her 12th birthday and she was left behind alone. She ended up with her uncle, Mattew and aunt, Amilia after her family's death. Because as per the law until a child is adult he or she can't stay on her own.They have been staying at her house since then. She was left here alone and thought that having someone so close to her family would be a good thing. They were always nice to her and her brother Mason during old days.But after staying with them for a while she realised they ended up here only for the money that her mom and dad left behind. The wristwatch in her hand beeps. It is time to go to school. After her parents murder,rumour spreads that she killed her parents due to anger. As she was short tempered since her childhood.From that day onwards she was daily bullied, the teachers would never interfere in such things and would often ignore the fact that anybody was being bullied. As she enters the school she could hear whispers and giggles. Oh well, nothing new she thought to herself. She walked towards the locker but somebody tripped her. Everyone bursted out in laughter.She simply got up and went straight to the locker and got the books for her math class. Before entering the class she knew what was going to happen but nevertheless she walked in. Splash! she was wet from head to toe but this time she saved her books. "It's getting boring now. We should do something new today don't you think Lucas." Adam said while smirking at Mia,while Ethan just sat there staring at her with suspicious eyes. She didn't bother listening to their conversation and sat on the last desk near to the window. She sat their all drenched. She couldn't go and change her clothes as the bell rang already. She has to sit like this the whole hour. The classes were boring as always. There was nothing new. She just stared at the clouds blankly. She looked at the birds chirping and flying around the garden outside. Mia envy's them yet finds it totally mesmerising.She smiles at the happiness and freedom that they have because she never in this 3 years knew what freedom or happiness was. Its is already lunch hour. She had already changed into some dry clothes as every since that day she would bring an extra pair of clothes just in case. She takes her lunchbox and walks towards the terrace. Its the only place in this whole school that makes her feel good. As she reached the last floor she was pulled in into an empty classroom. It was a bit dark. She couldn't see properly. All she could see was two men standing in front of her. She stood there staring at them blankly as She definitely knew who they were. "Still not speaking huh?" Adam said while trying to win a bet that they had years ago with Ethan. Mia didn't respond as she was so used to being hurt or scared that, she is just numb to that feeling. Adam couldn't control his anger and he kicked Mia on her stomach. She just spat out the blood and stood up again ready to take another hit. Adam clenched his hand tightly and was about to punch but Ethan stopped him. "Out you go." Ethan commanded and they just walked out of the door without even uttering a word. Ethan looked at Mia amused, that she didn't even flinch when Adam was about to punch her. But when her eyes met his, he just turned away and left. Because he saw himself in those eyes, broken and scattered like a broken mirror. He was the last one to leave the room. She just slowly walked towards the girls toilet as she already missed her class and there is no point of going back there. She look up at the mirror, tears rolled down her cheeks. She lifted up her hoodie to check if she broke her ribs or not, the skin has turned bluish. She just didn't bother and splash's some cold water on her face as she was starting to get dizzy. She opens the door when suddenly everything turns dark and she falls with a thud. She opened her eyes slowly because of the sudden brightness.she looked around and tried getting up. "Hey, you lay down. Don't try getting up it may hurt." A guy said. "It doesn't hurt anymore. And by the way where am i and who are you."She asked while looking straight into his deep blue which looked so similar. He looked at her and smiled. "Oh am sorry where are my manners.I am Evan. I am new to your class. By the way you may know my twin, Ethan." He said. She just looked shocked for a moment as she never knew that Ethan her once best friend ever had a brother.
