As an Omega I always knew I would end bonded to a true Alpha, but never in my wildest dreams I imagined it would be to him…They say he is the King of Alphas. They say he will end me. Chapter 1
Leukos     I knew without a shadow of a doubt that I would belong to him by the end of the duel. It was inevitable. My fate would be forever intertwined to the King of Alphas. The Wolf of the Maccana and the Smith of the Dark Desert. Many were his monikers. Many were his titles. His true name was like the silence of the wind, a secret that was carried around but no one knew it.     By the end of the night he would also be known as my Husband. And I would his wife. One of many. But his only Omega wife. I held myself to that simple truth like a castaway would hold to a plank in the middle of the sea.       As a woman my chances of surviving in an Alpha world were tied to procuring a strong Alpha who could defend me. As a true Omega I always knew I would be married to a true Alpha. A protector. A defensor. The strongest link of the chain.  As the only princess of the island of Laikos I’d understood my marriage would be a political move. But never in my wildest dreams I thought I would be a bargaining chip to protect the lives of my people. The lives of my parents.     The duel that was coming to an end in the arena made the crowds roar in excitement. All I heard was the sound of my own heartbeat rumbling inside my chest. My mother grabbed my hand and squeezed my cold fingers. My father looked away from the arena, his face ashen, his eyes empty. I looked down at the last moment, refusing to be a coward, accepting my fate.      I didn’t let myself show any emotion. I didn’t blink. I looked down to my future husband while he crashed the head of our national hero against the walls of the coliseum. The crows cried in excitement. The hero died. My husband won.     When the Wolf of Maccana looked up to the royal dais and stared at me I looked back. His black eyes zeroed on me, as if he could see me, as if he could smell my Omega scent all the way down the arena. His huge bulk tensed and seemed to expand at my nearness. His body was made by the gods of war and now it was readying to have me. The mating dance had already started. He had drawn blood for me. He had fought for the right to bed me. To mate me.      Fool.     How wrong he was to belittle an Omega.     I looked away from him and stared at my father. In his eyes I saw the old spark of an Alpha raising to protect his own. I patted his hand and even if all the Alphas could hear me with their keen senses, even if the brute of my new husband could understand me I said my piece. It was the least I could do since I didn’t know if I would ever see my parents again.      “ Fear not, I would be hated for what I am before I can be loved for what I’m not. And I’m not a victim. I’m not a survivor. I’m just a very fragile woman with something to prove,” there was silence after my words and then the Wolf of Maccana laughed. He laughed at me, as if I was not to be taken seriously.     I walked away then. He had won this play but the game had just started.
