The Blade Chronicles

***Emily's point of view*** Boom!  A loud noise interrupts my slumber... There's movement by my door... The doorknob shifts and the door creaks open. "Emily," I hear my mom's voice whisper. I quickly jump out of bed and head to her. "We have to get you to safety now! They've discovered you. I'm so sorry sweetie, if I could've told you earlier about this I would have. Please forgive us." My mom led me to a secret hatch and before I could protest she hugged me and pushed me out. As I slid to safety a few meters away from the house a huge explosion sounds out and a shock wave sends me sprawling. I get up and dust myself off only to discover that the place I called home up in flames. I run towards the building only to be stopped by a muscular arm. The fire department was already doing the best they could to save the occupants. I knew it even before somebody told me. My parents were gone. The police however did tell me that my parents had made plans if something were to happen to them. The plan was for me to move to my best friend and his dad, who already felt like family. I nodded and they escorted me to my new home.  When I saw Uncle Ferdinand my tears finally broke loose and I crumbled into his arms. The hurt and confusion breaking through. My parents aren't-weren't rich and they worked at normal boring jobs so why would someone come after me? Why not go after richer families? Who wanted my parents dead?  I was soon hit by a headache and uncle Ferdinand led me to the spare room. "Get some rest kiddo, we'll go and get your necessities later or tomorrow." I gave him the best smile I could muster and lay down on the bed. He left soon after and I closed my eyes awaiting sleep.  It wasn't until I felt the bed shift a little that I realised someone had walked in. I opened my eyes to discover a boy with black hair and icy blue eyes. The blue eyes that I found most attractive, it was Nico. He silently asked permission and I nod. He lies down and puts an arm around me. My brother from another mother I always called him. I cuddle closer and sleep soon finds me in the safety of my protector's arms...
