the making of the dark council
Vampires, demons, shifters, faeries, ghouls, and all other types of supernaturals tend to stay away from each other and keep their affairs separate. It's just too bad that they are the same as humans : impulsive. Everyone formed their own factions, courts, and councils. Just imagine what it was like before that. Immortal creatures like the Vampires were the first ones to show their face to mankind. They had power in high places and everyone knew that. Dimitri Crosstrogh was the next one in line to be clan leader, and his teenage son Linus was hoping to follow in his footsteps. 1242 Away rolling his eyes, Linus couldn't help but overhear his father's company talking about the human churches. It was another scheming plan to sustain blood farming without a human knowing. The details seemed to be very ridiculous. "We can be disciples of the Lord. Everyone uses the confessional. Our influence can make humans give in to what we need to not have to drain them. Then we just remark on the bite as being blessed by the Lord. I think that's a great idea," a vampire shared His father just stood there nodding away taking in the noble vampires words as him and the others figured out the problem to the blood crisis. Very few humans know of their existence and knew to stay out of the way. The consequences were just to deadly to even win. "We'll test this theory starting with my son," Dimitri suggested, startling the young man. "He's coming of age, for the need for blood will rise soon. What's better than having your food straight from the source?" Getting ready to defend himself Linus stood straight up only to be shushed. "You were born a pure blood vampire. These abilities of yours are getting ready to manifest the closer you are to adulthood." Basically stating what Linus already knew. The only way you'll grow up is by embracing what you truly are. Being sheltered by Dimitri was the only life Linus knew until he turned 15. He had somehow managed to use compulsion on an adult human managing to delete their memory. Since that day, humans were only acquaintances to only interact with when necessary. Training his newfound abilities was the utmost importance as of late. The only thing that hadn't affected him yet was the thirst for blood. Most pure bloods wouldn't until the age of 18 or first taste of blood. With that being said, a year under 18 gave him a chance to slow acclimate himself. That still didn't help with the fear he felt in the pit of his stomach. "I understand," Linus managed to say, lowering his head to submit. "We must find a way to maintain our kind." After dismissal the night has fall giving all the turned vampires and the others time to roam. Unfortunately it was time for training, the most dreaded part of the day. Controlling humans was always the subject at hand. For that, the teacher had a human whose memory was wiped and usually hypnotized to act a certain way. It was either a lesson of messing with human feelings, changing pain to pleasure, or becoming a figment of their imagination. Out of the lather, the last one was much harder as it involved getting inside ones head. A young woman in her early twenties sat in a chair tied up, unconscious. Linus gulped, pushing down his fear as his teacher snapped their fingers Then the humans eyes suddenly opened. "I didn't kill my babies I swear," she spoke, fear evident in her tone. Linus trained his gaze on her with the indifferent stare he'd been taught radiating coldness. "I don't care for that," Linus said, putting a finger to his head. "Do you even know how you got here?" Then her eyes seemed to lock with his which was her own mistake. He could feel himself being pulled into her mind. The human brain was clearly a maze as he had searched countless times before. Changing a humans memory was easy. But bending them to your will and becoming your puppet was nearly impossible. Her thoughts were muddled as he swam through her memories. The mother clearly didn't deserve children and karma had returned the favor. She fell in the river after drowning her son. "Your husband says otherwise," Linus says with a sneer. Projecting the image of her husband only seemed to make her panic, making the teacher smile behind him. Step one complete, he nearly thought. "My husband.... Shouldn't know anything," she says slowly, confused. "Of course, Linus interjected, rolling his own eyes. "He might not have seen that, but only you trying to jump in the river. If not for I you wouldn't have survived his wrath, would you?" It didn't take much before her own abusive memories of the husband came to the front of the woman's mind. Her emotions were literally on display as her heart rate began to slow. The thoughts of hers were finally becoming clearer. The lady was easily broken as her head hung low. Her voice was nearly a whisper. "I wanted to die." "What?" Linus repeated. He never had to deal with a suicidal situation till now. For some reason all the situations were always an accident. The rage had taken over as his compulsion ability kicked in. "CONFESS." Squirming in the chair the woman scrunched up her nose and had her eyes closed moaning. "Please," she says, moving her head from side to side. "I'll do anything." Linus only creased his eyebrows with confusion. He had clearly compelled her to confess and the woman seemed awfully stubborn. Before he could prove anything further the teacher stepped up. "Have you figured out why compulsion isn't working yet? It's quite simple as long as you use your senses," he says as he walks toward her. The woman starts to breathe erratically and screamed once she was touched. First her smell didn't scream anything supernatural at least on the surface. The sound was next as he knew the teacher didn't have a heartbeat and he could at least quiet his. There it is. Another heartbeat was present in the woman's womb and the smell with it was hidden, but definitely not human. "Other sup can block most compulsion spells," Linus repeated from memory. The nod from the teacher was enough to tell him the lesson was done. A 'good job' was shared before they separated ways. Being mentally drained Linus wasn't sure he was ready to be a full vampire. Maturing didn't seem like a problem, but the thought of messing up a human physically or mentally made him feel like a monster.
