A Simple Hello

Katie couldn’t believe how quick and busy the year had been for her from working in a salon in London along with travelling to her customers. Working in one of the busiest Hair and Nail salons is a demanding job, most people think it’s one of the easiest jobs and that all hairdressers do is natter to clients, but it’s so much more than that and it’s very demanding. So with that in mind and Christmas a couple of months away Katie decided to book herself a holiday to New York of course taking her best friend Samantha with her. Katie and Samantha had been friends for as long as they can both remember, they met when they was 4 years old and was taking dance lessons, they were always with each other, having sleepovers every weekend at each others house. As they grew up they attended parties and did everything teenagers do together and now they’re sharing a house, they’re both inseparable. “It’s about time you book some time off work” Samantha told Katie as they walked around town to get some new clothes for their holiday. “I just don’t like letting my clients down” was Katie’s response which only made Samantha roll her eyes. Katie was a workaholic, but that’s how she became successful in the hair and nail industry. Most people flocked to Katie for their hair and nails to be done, for a pamper session. It’s how she affords to live been a young woman living in London isn’t easy but with a successful job makes it work. Katie used to play hairdressers with Samantha at their sleepovers, and when asked what she wanted to be when she got older her answer was always the same “a hairdresser” and that answer never changed as she got older. Everyone knew she was going to go places in the industry, from the styles she comes up with and the creativity in her mind gave her that extra tool to go far. “So what made you decide on taking a whole 2 weeks off work?” Samantha questioned with a chuckle. Samantha wasn’t expecting Katie to take a week off let alone a whole 2 weeks off work. “I just need a break, with Christmas a few months away I’m going to be working until stupid hours to make sure I got everyone in. So if I take a break now I’ll be ready for the Christmas rush” Christmas is one of the most busiest times of year for everyone no matter what industry your in and everyone wants a fresh hair style or their hair colour touching up and some fresh set of nails for the festive season. “Well I’m not complaining 2 weeks in New York with my best friend, what more could a girl want? I just hope we see some good looking lads for a holiday romance” Katie burst out laughing at her best friend, even though they’re both 26 Samantha still acts like she’s 18. Katie was the same until she let her ex but that didn’t work out so Katie concentrated on her career. “You know what for once I agree but I’m not going out of my way to make it happen” Katie shrugged because that’s one thing she always believed, if a lad was interested in you he’d prove it, you shouldn’t make it happen. Yes a relationship is 50/50 you both put the effort in but you shouldn’t force it and change just for the other. Now Katie had done her fair share of one night stands when she was in her teen years when she was partying like any other normal teenager. “Come on your gorgeous, I’m gorgeous the lads here are idiots so why not try are luck in New York?” Katie laughed once again at her best friend, Samantha was always the crazy one out of the two. “How about we just go and enjoy ourselves?” Samantha shrugged because she could agree with her there, they haven’t done something like this for over 2 years. Yes they went to the nightclubs and partied still but they haven’t gone on holiday for a while and Samantha knew it’s exactly what they both needed.
