Chapter One
“There’s no f*****g way!” I yell at Brienne. She had come flying into the classroom screaming about John on his way. She seemed more freaked out than I did. See, John was this hot college guy who didn’t seem to take no for an answer. He continuously asked me out to the point where I had to run and hide in my dorm. I’ve managed to avoid him for a week and now he knows what class I’m in. “Brienne, please exit my classroom,” Dom said. We turned to the front of the room where Dominic was staring back at us. He was in the middle of a lecture when she came running in and I don’t think she realized it. She gave him a quick smile before turning around and running out. Dom then turned his attention to me. “Please tell your friends not to come into my classroom acting like she belongs in a mental house.” There were a few chuckles throughout the class, making me slip down into my seat. I glared at him until he turned back to writing on the board. I brushed off him embarrassing me in front of the whole class and thought about a way to get out unseen by John. When the bell rang half an hour later I slowly got up, not in a hurry for what was probably waiting for me outside the room. I let everyone out before me then dragged my feet towards the door. “Nell, can I have a word?” Dom called after me. I clenched my teeth and turned to him. He walked to the front of his desk and leaned against it, all the while staring at me with his big green eyes. “Yes, Mr. Keith?” I heard a low groan escape his lips as I neared him. He hated when I called him by his last name, even at work. “Why does she keep interrupting my class like that?” He asked. I ran my fingers through my long, tangled hair and sighed. “Because she’s an i***t I guess, I don’t know why don’t you ask her?” I snapped. He pressed his lips together at my annoyance. “Where are you headed to?” I narrowed my eyes at him. “Probably back to my dorm. If I even make it. I have a freaking stalker probably standing right outside the room right now.” I glanced at the door for any movement. “If you need anything, let me know. Maybe we can go out tonight.” I stared up into his memorizing eyes and couldn’t help but give him a weak smile. “Maybe,” I whispered. We shared a long stare before the second bell rang and students filled in. I looked down at the floor and sighed. “Well, see you later.” I walked out of the room into a strong pair of arms. I didn’t get a good look at my attacker as he wrapped his arms around my waist and pressed his lips to my ear. “Long time no see, baby,” He whispered. “I should have known it was you,” I growled. “I could smell you from the classroom.” John’s laugh was hypnotizing when you heard it. It would melt any human girl’s heart, if he was interested in one. Unfortunately, it seemed he was only interested in me, the daughter of the biggest Alpha around here. John use to be in a rival pack but he recently got kicked out for reasons unknown to me. My father told him he needs to prove he can be in this pack and so far he’s doing a horrible job at it. Dominic is my mate and since we are destined to be together it would be against my nature to be with anyone else. Or so I hear about five times a day from my parents. I’m already on bad terms with them since I denied my mate to have a normal life. It’s not like I chose to be a wolf. His hands trailed down my thighs and rested between my legs. “Excuse me! Why don’t you go play with your toys and leave me alone?” I pushed him off and tried to walk away but he held onto my arm. “What? You don’t miss me anymore?” “Why would I miss you in the first place? You’re nothing but a stray!” I barked. Strays are what we call outsiders with no place to go and seemed to be John’s nickname around our pack. He was hated by many and loved by a few. There was no use attempting to pull away; with his strength he could hold back a buffalo. “Is there a problem?” Dominic’s angry voice came. We both turned, John still holding onto my arm. They stared between each other for a moment before he let go of my arm. I scowled at him and rubbed the red spot that was now imprinted on my arm. “No Mr. D. Just having a friendly conversation,” John said. He smiled at Dom then looked at me. “I’ll see you around Nellz.” He strutted away from us with way too much confidence. At moments like this, I was glad we had super hearing because John probably would have ripped my clothes off in the hallway if Dom wouldn’t have heard us. I shot him a thankful smile then turned away from him. All I wanted to do was rest until I go back to the pack house and get hounded on some more for “denying my nature”. Oh how I hated my father’s lectures. ** The pack house was on campus but deep in the woods where no human dares to go. People say they spotted wolves near the school at night. Go figure! But we keep our distance from the humans when in wolf form because some have a tendency to hunt. A few of my wolf classmates ran past me, their clothes in their mouths. One stopped and turned to me to stare. I stared down into his golden eyes and recognized him as Mike, my study hall buddy. He narrowed his eyes and whimpered up at me. “I’m fine, I just need time alone before I get yelled at,” I told him. He bowed his head and growled. I laughed. “No, John isn’t bugging me. Well, for the most part. I’ll meet you at the house.” He sneezed then took off with his friends. I couldn’t understand him without being in wolf form but I knew he was worried. I didn’t feel like forming right now. I got two hours of sleep before it was time for a pack meeting and I wasn’t looking forward. It was boring. I’d rather be harassed by John; who was unwanted at the house meetings but dad told the group that if he was going to be a part of the pack then he needs to be at the meetings. This was his first and I was hoping he wouldn’t pull his crap in front of my father. A few more wolves ran by racing each other. There was a light tap on my shoulder that made me jump. “Not feeling up to a run?” Brienne asked. I sighed and watched my feet as I walked. “No, I’m not in any hurry,” I told her. “You should really stop running into class like you do. Mr. Keith keeps bitching at me because of it.” She snorted out loud. She was my rebel friend; the class skipper, rule breaker, and teacher hater. Although she had an unusual crush on Mr. Keith, she hated him. He was always on her ass about getting to class and not pulling me down with her. “Tell that nut job that he needs to back off of your nuts. I swear he has some kind of crush on you,” She said, rolling her eyes. I couldn’t help but giggle. No one but my parents and brother know that my teacher was my mate. He is ten years older than me and if we were seen together on campus he would be fired for sure. “Well, I’ll see you at the house. My parents wanted me there early to sit up front with them.” She shook her head then undressed to form. When she did, she picked up her clothes between her teeth and disappeared in the trees. I sighed against the silence and loneliness.
