Legend of Niyonika

NB: The first half of this work is unedited and there are some repetitions and drags in the chapters due to system glitches. However, the later parts of the book make up for it and, overall, it is a tale worth your reading. The book will remain free till it is completed and edited. Hope you can still give it a try. ___________ ~It is a common saying, and in everybody's mouth, that life is but a sojourn~ -Plato "My beloved, you have assisted this warrior to the position of clan leader, and because of your wisdom and unwavering support, this lord was able to unify the scattered clans and rebuild the Dobu kingdom..." Niyonika listened boredly as the handsome warrior went on and on with tales of how she had been a pillar of strength and support. Niyonika sighed to herself, changing events of the past was tedious work, especially when you had to deal with ancient men and their clingy tendencies, much like this one currently before her. According to history, he was to be the first king of the Dobu kingdom, however after suffering a heartbreak from the female heroine of this time line, he receded into his shell and handed over the reigns of the unification movement to his second in command and friend. 'Pathetic' if you asked Niyonika, she was one who believed matters of the heart should be completely separate business from your goals, moreover the goal of unification was not just this warrior's goal but that of thousands of people who had put their fate in him and swore loyalty to him, only for him to dash their hopes just to nurse his wounded heart. When Niyonika had first received this mission, to ensure this warrior did not meet the female lead and remained as the leader of the unification movement, Niyonika had wondered why she had to bother to help such a pathetic man, it was only after taking a good look at history that Niyonika realized the entire event had been orchestrated by the second in command who was actually the villain, in the end, the second in command got all he wanted. He ascended to the throne as the first king of the Dobu kingdom, crowned the female lead his queen, took practically all the key females into his harem and ruled the lands tyrannically, he had eventually lead the Dobu kingdom to a loosing battle that resulted in the destruction of the kingdom once again. According to history, the Dobu kingdom had stood for only ten years. The fall of the Dobu kingdom had resulted in a lot of blood shed in no distant time. Niyonika's mission was to ensure this warrior never handed over the reigns of command to the villain and to achieve this, she had to ensure he never noticed the female lead. For the past five years, Niyonika had spent each and every day working tirelessly to achieve her mission. The body which she had been transmigrated into was that of a dying slave girl. Niyonika had to survive many deadly situations and raise her status for two full years before she was finally able to even meet this warrior for the first time. After this she had spent a year working and scheming to earn his trust, going through another series of deadly situations, most of which his very sword had been the weapon at her throat. This warrior had some serious high grade trust issues, it beat Niyonika's understanding why he had ended up falling for the queen of all schemes that was the heroine of this time line. It had taken a really long time but Niyonika had finally won his trust, becoming his most trusted advisor and confidant. Niyonika had attached herself firmly to his side, fighting every battle with him, the warrior had assumed it was her care and loyalty, on Niyonika's part, she was only keeping a look out for the female lead, she was certain if she took her eyes off of him for even a second, the queen of schemes would attack. In the end, Niyonika had come out ontop, besting both the female lead and the villain. The unification had been achieved and this warrior would be crowned king of the Dobu kingdom today, and here he was, pleading with Niyonika or at least the body she occupied to accept his love and rule at his side. "This lord cannot imagine ruling this kingdom without you at my side my beloved, be my queen Amia..." The warrior pleaded, Niyonika was quiet for a while, she wished to speak but for the life of her, she could not even remember the warrior's name. She had grown accustomed to calling him with his title of ' your lordship ' and now that they were in such a situation of talking feelings, Niyonika realized that she had long forgotten his actual name, it had been five long years in this timeline already, Niyonika was exhausted and could only think of returning home. "This king..." Niyonika corrected him in what she hoped sounded like an affectionate tone. "What...?" The warrior asked her in puzzlement, Niyonika permitted a small smile. "Your majesty is to be crowned today, you must get used to your new title...in this subordinates opinion, ' this king ' does suit your majesty better." Niyonika said with a smile and she meant it. This warrior indeed would make an excellent king, he was one who cared deeply for the well being of his people, being by his side for five years, Niyonika had watched him strive daily without rest in order to build a home for his people, Niyonika had now come to deeply respect him, it was for this very reason that Niyonika currently felt very guilty for what she would have to do. Her mission in this timeline had been completed, tarrying any longer might do irreparable damage to history, it was time for her to return home, in order to do that, this body would have to be returned to it's original state... death. "Amia... please give me an answer..." The warrior pressed, Niyonika sighed sadly before forcing out a smile. "If your majesty deems me worthy to serve at your side, then it will be my greatest honor." Niyonika whispered, wincing in guilt at the bright smile that spread across the warrior's face. "I shall let the people know immediately, they must know they now have two events to celebrate, my coronation and my wedding!" The warrior declared excitedly, placing a soft kiss on Niyonika's forehead before hurrying out to announce the news. Niyonika leaned back into the bed sadly, glancing once more at the direction the warrior had left in and then at the dark eyes she knew watched them from behind the curtains of the inner room... the eyes of the villain. "It is time." Niyonika whispered to herself, rising to her feet and heading out the soon-to-be king's quarters knowing the bearer of the dark eyes would follow, it was after all for this very reason that she had not revealed his deceit and betrayal up to this point, she still needed him to do one last thing for her, he was the only one who could send her on her way. Niyonika headed towards the cliff areas, purposefully following through the route she knew the soon-to-be king could sight her and would not be far behind. Arriving at the cliffs, Niyonika took a deep breath before she spoke. "Why are you following me, general?" Niyonika asked as though she was not already clear on his intentions, the villain stepped out of the shadows, right behind her. "How long have you known?" The villain asked in a dark tone, Niyonika wondered if he referred to the knowledge of him trailing her or the knowledge of his wrongdoings in general, whichever it was, there was only one answer. "I have always known, general." Niyonika replied simply, her gaze fixed over the cliffs. "Why have you not revealed me to Daurgo yet?" The villain asked in a dark tone, Niyonika smiled slightly, 'Daurgo...so that was his name' she thought sadly. "I do not know the answer to this myself, why have I failed to inform his majesty of his most trusted friend's betrayal? why have I failed to inform him of news I know will completely shatter his heart? why?" Niyonika whispered, as much as her words left a sour taste in her mouth, dramatics were of high importance in ending a timeline, especially an ancient one. "He will not be king!!! I will never allow it!!! That is my place!!!" The villain yelled with rage, Niyonika sighed tiredly. "He already is king general, he always has been... give it up, you cannot go against the mandate of the heavens. Daurgo is the only king of Dobu, no one else can do it but him, you know this general, yet you refuse to accept it." Niyonika said, the villain yelled in rage to the sky. "This is all your fault!! If not of you always protecting him?! How could he still be living?!" The villain raged, glaring hatefully at Niyonika's back that was still turned to him. Niyonika sighed to herself, she was tired of this exchange already, she had felt the soon to be king's arrival and he had heard all he needed to hear, this villain should just kill her already so they can be done with it, why drag it out so long, did he really think she appreciated hearing his grating voice? "Protecting Daurgo was the mission assigned to me by the heavens... I have only fulfilled my mission." Niyonika replied, the villain released a guttural growl. "Your mission ends here!" He growled out, being the seasoned warrior that she was, Niyonika felt him move even before he did, she might have easily side stepped him and avoided the sword, letting him barrel down the cliff, but all these had been part of her plan, and so she remained in place, even when the soon to be king yelled for her to watch out from his hiding place, darting towards her as fast as he could. "Amia! watch out!" Daurgo yelled desperately, Niyonika spun around just in time for the villain's sword to pierce right through her heart. Daurgo screamed in horror even as the rest of the warriors and some of the people arrived, unable to believe the scene before their eyes. Niyonika staggered back, releasing a gasp of pain as she dropped to a knee. In Daurgo's distraction, the villain pulled out a dagger, intending to hurl it at him, Niyonika caught sight of it and lunged for the villain, despite the pain spreading through her, she was livid... this determined pest like bastard of a villain was just about to waste all her careful efforts and kill the soon to be king, then her mission would have ended in failure. "Your majesty...my only wish is for you to become a great king... protect your people... protect Dobu..." Niyonika spoke her last words in pained gasps, before she spun around and leaped off the cliff, pulling the screaming villain down with her. As they fell to their death, Niyonika could see the female lead beside a screaming Daurgo, holding him back from leaping after Niyonika and offering comfort. Niyonika sneered... ' once a bitch... always a b***h!' Niyonika was at least comforted in the fact that the female lead would die soon, history had it that she was killed by the people not long after becoming queen for her evil acts.. ' Keep smiling b***h! you'll be joining me soon! ' Niyonika cursed within her heart before letting darkness overtake her concsiousness.
