Sapphire

Sapphire sneaked to the side of her parent's bedroom door trying to make out what they were talking about but she had a feeling it was about her. "Honey we really need to do something about Sapphire "Jane started the discussion. "What do you mean? Phil asked like he didn't know what she was talking about. "People have been talking about what happened yesterday. My friend Theresa just called me to ask if it was true" "What did you tell her? Phil asked his hand on his forehead. "What else I told her it was just a silly rumour. But Phil we both know the truth .Sapphire was the one who did it" "No doubt she was the one but how? She made Mason float?How is that possible? Phil rubbed his chin gently. "I'm telling you Phil there's something off about Sapphire. something strange about her"Jane said disturbed. "I know. maybe there is a reasonable explanation "Phil replied. "Reasonable!Remember when Sapphire predicted your accident and Mr Frank losing his job or Douglas's death! Jane said seriously, hands on her hips. Phil scratched his head. "Admit it Phil,every bad thing that has ever happened have been predicted by Sapphire" "You're right Jane. she's not like her sisters "Phil said deep in thought. Behind the door Sapphire's heart was beating. She had always known she was strange but she never thought it was this noticeable until yesterday at the Peters grill party when Mason almost fell off the roof but somehow he didn't instead he was floating in the air .She had felt it,the power surging through her. She did it but how?Mason had looked at her like he had seen a demon. She had seen the fear in everyone's eyes. It wasn't normal.How did she possibly get these strange powers. She couldn't possibly be a witch,could she? . Besides she looked nothing like one. Witches were hideous with long pointy noses, sharp claws and so many warts .At least that was how books and movies portrayed them. She wasn't anything like that. She was mysteriously beautiful. She couldn't possibly believe she could be a witch .It could be that she wasn't even responsible for what happened yesterday. She had some doubts. It could have been any witch trying to perfect telekinesis but not her. She was no witch. "Phil, what if she's a witch? Jane asked, fearfully. Sapphire felt like something had shifted in her chest. "We have to keep Opal and Garnet away from her, I mean I don't want anything happening to my daughters "Jane added,panic in her voice. Sapphire breathed heavily behind the door,her throat felt dry and her eyes began to water. Her parents were afraid of her too and they were trying to get rid of her. Her knees felt weak,she staggered hitting the door slightly making it squeak. Jane and Phil stopped talking and looked at the door. "Sapphire? Phil called out and walked towards the door. He opened it but saw on one there. "I think Sapphire was behind the door "Phil said worried. "you don't think she heard what we said right"Jane said hoping so. "I don't know but I doubt that she didn't "Phil sat down on the bed frustrated . "But Phil you know we have to do something about her " "I know " Sapphire sat in her room for the rest of the day. what are my? why am I so different? why couldn't I be normal like my sisters? So many questions yet no one could provide the answers. Her parents were planning to take her away from her sisters .The pain,anger and frustration overwhelmed her. She burst out in tears. "I can't believe they would want to get rid of me. How could they want to do this! Sapphire screamed and released her anger on her fluffy teddy bear punching it severely. She kicked her books away and pushed her bookshelf away. Then she heard something break. she looked behind the shelf and saw her vase, the one her grandma gave to her before she passed away. She sighed. "Oh no, what have you done Sapphire. This was grandma's favorite vase "She held the pieces in her hand. "If only I could put it back together " Then something happened,the pieces started arranging. Sapphire looked in awe. "Am I the one doing this? She withdrew her hands and it stopped .She brought her hand close to the vase again and it continued rearranging. She could feel the power flow through her. How was she doing this. This confirmed that she really wasn't any ordinary girl. She got up slowly. She walked few steps back gasping. She looked at her hands in shock. "what am I? Fear, shock and horror coursed through her. Was she truly what she feared? Maybe this was all a dream and she would wake up any moment. She pinched herself. She was the one who made Mason float. Now she had no doubt. She felt like she was in a tight space. It wasn't a tight space filled with things but a tight space filled with her numerous thoughts. "I need some air"She flung her jacket on and opened the door. Her mother stood in front of her. "Oh Sapphire,i was just about to knock " Sapphire turned her face away and tried to hide her emotions . "I was just going out"Sapphire said swiftly and tried to breeze past but Jane held her hand. Sapphire looked at her mother's weary eyes. . "There's something very important your dad and I have to tell you" Sapphire gulped heavily. "Can't it wait? I have to go meet my friends "Sapphire lied. She normally abhorred lying but she wasn't ready to talk to her parents. After all, she knew they were already trying to get rid of her. "Well young lady. Your friends are going to have to wait. This discussion can't wait. Let's go. Your dad is waiting" Sapphire sighed and walked downstairs with her mother.
