Black Rose
Meaning: Death
"My mother, Anisa Miracle Wilson-Smith was a wonderful woman. Born on January 19th, 1967 at Kings County Hospital. She was a miracle baby, being that her parents had suffered 2 miscarriages and was told that they may never have children. She was a generous person. Never caused anyone any trouble and studied to become a doctor. She met my father in the 1983 and they got married after 6 months of dating. Many said they weren't going to last. She gave birth to two beautiful girls, Janiyah Robin Smith and myself, Jade Aaliyah Smith. Sadly in 2013, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. We were told she would only have 3 months to live. She proved the doctors wrong and beat the cancer. But this year, the cancer came back stronger than ever. It made her weaker and the chemo didn't help. But on August 10th, God called her home. She is survived by me, my sister, and my dad. Mom, if you're listening, thank you for everything you've done for me. You taught me to never give up and that God doesn't put more on us than we can bear. I'll know you'll be watching over us."
As Jade stepped from the podium and headed down the stairs, she broke down. This feeling was too surreal. She just lost her mother. The one whom she would always gossip with. Her bestfriend. Someone who she could go to when times were hard and she felt like she couldn't do it anymore.
Her father and sister came to her side to help her stand up. Jade looked up at her dad to see him crying as well.
"It's okay, Jade. We'll get through it. It's gonna take some time." She hugged him with her tears staining his shirt but he could care less. He just lost the love of his life.
Sooner than later, the service was over and everyone started heading to the burial.
Jade knew that this journey wasn't going to be easy but she knew she wasn't going to be sad forever. Her mother would hate her to be grumpy. She would want Jade to celebrate her life and not grieve her death.
