Green Rose Meaning: Eternal Life It was currently 3 in the morning and Dylan's phone was ringing off the hook. Frustrated, he answered the phone, prepared to yell at whoever was on the other line. "What?" He yelled, trying to see who was calling him. "Dyl, come to the hospital. G-Grams had a heart attack." His sister, Kai, sobbed on the other line. "I'm on my way." He jumped out the bed and threw on his slides. He only had on a wife beater and basketball shorts but he didn't care. His grandmother was his only priority at the moment. Grandma James or Grams as she prefered to be called, was the neighborhood's favorite. Really sweet lady, offers candy to the children, always participates in the bake sales at church, even if she didn't have it, she always give to help others. This is her second heart attack and she barely survived the last one. Even since Grandpa passed away, she's been a bit depressed but it didn't stop her from living her life. That's what Grandad would've wanted her to do anyway. Dylan sped to the hospital, speeding through the red lights and stops. On the way there, he went to his Grandmother's favorite flower shop that stays open all night and bought a bouquet of green flowers. Grams always said when someone is feeling sick, green roses can help them feel better. Dylan wasn't very superstitious but he desperately bought them, hoping that the green roses myth was true. Finally arriving at the hospital, he asked the head nurse where Claretha James was. The head nurse was giving him a hard time. But before he got to curse her out, his sister came out and bought him to where his family and friends were. "What did the doctor say?" "I don't know. They haven't came out yet." Kai saw the roses and smiled. "Thought you didn't believe in that stuff." "I don't but I'll do anything to help her." "Claretha James' family." We frantically ran to the doctor, hoping to hear some good news. "She's doing really well and is in recovery. Only 2 of you guys can go see her right now." Everybody looked at me and pushed me to go. "Go, Dyl. We know how much she means to you." He looked around and everybody agreed on what Kai said. He thanked everybody and followed the doctor to Grams' room. He walked in and saw her resting. The heart monitor was beeping, echoing softly in the room. He rested the green roses down on the table and pulled up a chair and sat down next to her. He grabbed her hand and gave it a soft kiss. "You were right, Grams. Green roses does help those in need."
