LOUISA
“Oh Goddess!” I uttered when I noticed how late I was already.
Lucy would be so pissed. I walked home hurriedly that very instant, taking a separate route that Erica had shown me.
With a confused face, I asked myself, “Why would she tell me all of those things, a stranger?”
That was the first time I would see someone have a mild seizure.
Apparently, she had a heart issue. A problem she had been nursing for years. I feel for her.
“It was discovered when I was a baby. Basically, at any moment of my life, my heart could fail, and I would drop dead, never to open my pretty green eyes again,” she said as I lifted her off the ground.
Our conversation eroded my thoughts as I walked home. I wish I could stay back and tend to her as I now see her as a friend.
She was smart and hospitable. I couldn't help but tell her about my situation also.
We bonded that instant. “What do you intend doing about this?” she asked.
“Well, for now, I just think about life.”
“Life is short, Louisa. We really don't know how the very next hour or minute could change our trajectory, much less the next day,” her voice echoed in my head.
“What are you saying?” I asked.
“I am saying, I get it. You have been dealt a bad hand. Losing your mother at childbirth and being ignored by your father is bad enough, but a stepmother, determined to paint you as the bad guy, is not good either.”
“I get that you think playing low would get you some recognition, that people would finally see you, they won't. Why, because life is unfair. And it will only serve those who are willing to take it by the balls.”
“I am past eighteen, and I haven't found my mate. It is safe to reason. He is not in this pack. When I do find him, I will be more than glad to throw myself at him,” I replied confidently, with the thought of Trevor in my head.
“Is that what you're waiting for? Your mate?”
“You would take the abuse and embarrassment on the flimsy hope that you would find your mate? Correct me if I'm wrong, but is it not a fact that some of you wolves die without meeting their mates?” She added.
“That won't happen to me,” I snapped. Those were my last words before I stormed out of her room in anger.
At least, I left her in one piece. She was more blunt than I had imagined.
Greater troubles await me. I was already late, and I am pretty sure Lucy would be boiling in anger right now.
******
“Damn!” I just realized I didn't get the object Lucy sent me.
Only Trevor's request.
“Oh goodness!” I tiptoed to the backyard when I heard a soft voice from behind me.
I froze, thinking it was Lucy, faking to be sweet. Then, I felt warm palms resting on my shoulder as the sound of my name filled my ears.
“Louisa.”
I turned slowly only to see this handsome young man.
“Trevor, is that you?” I uttered in utmost surprise.
He was more handsome than they described. He was tall, had grey eyes and dark hair. His poise as he walked in elegantly.
His eyes fixated on mine like he was going to say something to me that instant.
I smiled. “I can't believe it's really you,” I said. He walked towards me and gave me a very tight hug.
“We should go somewhere more private. Your stepmother, I presume, has been screaming your name,” He whispered to my ears.
I giggled. Quite last, someone with a scope to escape Lucy’s long claws of inhumane treatment.
“I agree with you, Trevor.” The excitement I felt that second was off the charts.
I still couldn't believe I was beholding the magnificent presence of Alpha Trevor, the man who claims to love me and make me ‘his’ forever.
We went up the hills where it was most serene and sacred at the skies as the day went darker.
“How haven't I seen you, a beauty as alluring as yours? You're one of a kind, I must commend,” He said in a soft, sweet tone as he placed his hands around me.
I blushed and looked away. It looks like my dreams are about to come true and my needs supplied on a platter of gold.
“You know we're getting married, and I want you to know nothing will ever come between us..”
“My dearest mate,” he added.
His lovely words sent shivers down my spine. There was this eccentric spark between us, and I felt like moving closer to him.
“Mate,” my wolf whispered.
How much I have always wanted to hear those words and feel their warmth in my soul.
He held my hands all of a sudden, and my wolf nudged.
Pushing me to move closer to him that our bodies made contact.
“I must do this the proper way….” He said. “Louisa is my name even though you knew thay already,” I responded, trying to complete his sentence.
“A name as beautiful as you look. A perfect couple, if you would ask me,” he commented.
“Do I need an introduction?” He jested with a smile. I shook my head in response.
Who doesn't know the great handsome Alpha of the Swan pack? Alpha Trevor. Fearsome and bold.
Who would have thought such a powerful person would be interested in me and even more so, refer to me as his mate?
My cheeks were already rosy red, and my eyes glowed with so much bliss at his presence.
He touched me once more, and this time around, I leaned towards him to kiss him.
I tried to stop, but he put his hands around my waist and drew me closer as he grabbed my butts firmly.
We kissed passionately; it was sensational as he drove back and forth on my neck with his wet lips.
I moaned softly.
Right there on the hill, we undressed and made love to each other all through the night.
It was the coolest and most enjoyable night I had ever had in the pack.
I never wanted it to end.
I woke up the next morning with the widest grin on my face. “It was my wedding day with the love of my life.”
“My Alpha, my beloved mate, Trevor.”
I yawn with so much ease as I turned to feel his body beside me.
But he wasn't there. I was confused.
“Where had Trevor gone this morning, leaving me up here all alone?”
It was this exact moment I felt something prick my naked thighs. It was a handwritten note.
I unfolded the paper, and it read.. “I don't want you any longer. You're not my mate, and I do not desire you!!”
My heart raced as I read further.
“There's no need for you to be happy. The marriage has been called off!”
What?!!
“No!!!!”
I screamed out in pain.
