Steps on Remembering

Honey ended up escaping Ezra and Daisuke when the two of us ran outside and hid in the branches of a tree as they looked around for the two of us. “Okay so how long are we gonna stay up here?” I asked seeing the two others enter the school once more. “Let’s just eat here so we don’t have to worry about getting caught.” “You mean so you don’t have to worry about getting caught.” I said with a smirk as I gave him a side-eye glance watching him choke on his spit. “We’re in this together, so it’s we.” “Well, we is turning to you cause I have to meet a counselor of some sort.” I see Honey’s face fall and it made my heart clench, “Don’t worry Honey we’ll still have class together. You and the others get to walk me home and we have the same clubs.” I cupped his cheek and he leaned into my touch, “Don’t miss me too much! See you in class!” I yelled as I jumped down from the tree. I open the door to the school and I bump into Ezra and Dai, “He’s in the tree, excuse me.” I said as I walked around the pair as I heard the yells of Honey as I walked in further. As I walked through the school I began to feel lost and confused as I looked for the room that I was supposed to meet up with this counselor, Okay, which room is he supposed to be in? Am I even in the right part of the school? I don’t wanna be late. I’m pulled out of my thoughts when I feel a pair of hands on my shoulders. “We almost crashed into each other, gotta be more careful.” A man with shaggy messy jet black hair, hazy brown eyes with glasses gracing his olive skin. He was wearing a gray shirt with a black jacket and black pants. “I’m sorry. I’m trying to find this room to meet this counselor person to help with my memory.” His eyes seemed to brighten slightly. “Oh, you must be Asteria Graybell.” I nodded my head and he gave me a smile as he pushed up his glasses, “I’m the counselor person you’re looking for. Come along and we’ll get started in a moment, just need to grab a notebook for you.” I nodded as I followed after him. The counselor led me to a room with a window seat. I love window seats! I immediately skip over to the window seat and I hear a chuckle, “Seems like you’re fond of the window seat.” I nodded and plopped my ass on the cushion, “Let me grab my notebook and we can introduce ourselves.” I nodded as I looked outside the window then turning my head around as soon as the door closed. Actually pausing to look at his office it was unique. It had a bunch of different trinkets and items I don’t know if some of the items were supposed to be comfort items or just random s**t. There was a painting of a violin hanging up, but the violin was made up of little blue and white flowers, it looked pretty cool honestly, the little blue and white flowers matched a series of lamps in the shape of crystals the lamps were blue and white marble swirled and had metal to create the shape of the cluster of lamps. Against the wall, there were a bunch of yoga mats and some shelves which held teacups and little containers of water with - I think a rock or something covered in moss- he had a bunch of stuff hanging down from the ceiling ranging from stained glass lotus flowers to key butterflies. It was a lot of stuff, but somehow everything fits together. My head snapped to the door seeing the man once more, “Sorry about that. My name’s Marlowe Jacobs but most people call me Marli.” he said and I stood up to shake his hand. “Glad to meet you. As you know I’m Asteria Graybell.” We shook hands, and I sat back down. “You said you’re having trouble remembering things, explain what you mean by that if you can.” He said sitting down in a dark blue bean bag chair. “That’s correct. For some reason, I can’t remember my middle and elementary school days. I have several friends that I couldn’t remember and I don’t understand why I can’t remember. I have pictures and items from those days, I just can’t remember.” I ended with a shrug, “Certain memories enter back into my mind when they say or do certain things I unlock another memory. I just don’t understand why I can’t remember anything.” He seemed to be writing everything I was saying down, he looked back up at me, “I’m gonna be honest. I thought you meant you can’t remember things in class or little things, but this- this is on a whole other level.” “You can’t help me can you?” I sighed out in disappointment. “I never said I couldn’t help you. I stated that I would have to reevaluate my approach. It’s very rare to recover suppressed memories, but if they’re coming back to you, there’s a high possibility that with my help, you can remember everything.” He said with a smile as he sat forward, “If you’re determined and willing to I can change our sessions so we can work together longer.” My eyes widened and I immediately nodded, “Don’t agree so fast. What days do you have club if you’re in any.” “Gardening is on Wednesday, Occult is on Thursday, and Astronomy is on Friday. Estella doesn’t have any clubs, and I’m free on the weekends.” I said. “Why is it so important that you remember?” “Wouldn’t you want to remember large portions of your life?” I asked and he smiled back at me. “Fair enough. Okay, you’ll stay late on Mondays and Tuesdays. I’m going to see what you remember. I’m going to have to speak to your friends, is that okay?” I nodded, “Their names are Honey Grayson, Ezra West, Rodas Quinn, and Daisuke... I just realized I don’t remember Daisuke’s last name, but we’re typically grouped up together, so if you find Honey or Ezra then Daisuke isn’t far behind.” I said. “What about Rodas?” He asked. “Oh, he’s not in the school right now, due to an incident, we don’t know when he’s coming back.” “I’ll talk to the principal about him, but alright that’s fine.” He sighed and stood up, “Our session is over, but call me if you have any questions or concerns.” “Thank you. Are doing the afterschool sessions next week or you’ll let me know?” “I’ll let you know.” I nodded and grabbed my belongings, “Here’s your pass back to class, have a good day Asteria.” “Thank you and you too!” I excitedly say as I left the room to head to my class. “BEAUTIFUL!” I heard a shout from the end of the hallway. “Ezra don’t be so loud!” I scolded as he got closer to me. He started pouting but fixed his face when a new voice echoed in the hallway. “Ezra West. Perfect one of the people I needed to see.” Ezra’s face scrunched up in confusion. “He’s the counselor helping me with my memory, he’ll just ask a few questions, you’re not in trouble.” Ezra nodded in understanding and fixed his face, “Alright, I was confused for a second, but if he’s helping you then I’ll talk to him.” He said ruffling my hair as he walked over to the door, “See you later!” I nodded and I began to walk to my class. Reaching the door of the class I supposed to be, but I’m picked up over someone’s shoulder. Who the f**k? “DAISUKE YOU MOTHERFUCKER!” I heard Honey yell as I'm taken. "Wait Daisuke we still have school!" He said nothing he just kept running, but we didn't leave school, just seems like he took me to a familiar looking area. “We’re still on school grounds, don't get too mad.” Daisuke looked away from me with a slightly pink face, “I know you don't remember me one hundred percent but I wanted to ask you out. It's not supposed to be a date or anything! It's just me being a good friend to help you see somethings to help jog your stupid head faster. I can't make jokes if you don't remember shit.” Dai’s face got redder as he spoke. “You don't have to get embarrassed asking to hang out. I would love that.” I pulled out a book and hit him in the head lightly, “and you certainly don't have to kidnap me. We can go around town recreating the memories we had when we were younger while creating some new memories. Alright?” I asked softly and Daisuke’s face erupted red, “What's wrong?” He mumbled something before placing his head on my shoulder and hugged me tightly, “You’re gonna make me f**k up my reputation.” I shrugged, “I knew you before your reputation. Now take me back to class.” he pouted but walked me back to class. Honey immediately dragged me inside where I stayed until it was time to go.
