“Do I remember what?” I looked at him. “Our handshake? The one we made before I left Sunny Hill. I remember that clear as day.” he placed his food on the bed and stuck his hands out. “You’re gonna have to re-teach me, the guys and I didn’t want to do it without you so we kinda stopped doing it.” he explained sheepishly and rubbed the back of his head. “Yeah sure. I don’t mind.” I took his pale calloused hands into my own laughing softly at his pink flushed cheeks, “Pay attention alright?” he nodded and looked at our hands. I put his right hand on top of his left hand and clasped my hand within his right hand then his left hand we both then clapped our hands and hit the opposite hand of each other, then made a butterfly, hit the back of our hands together, then clapped our hands together, and we made a heart with our fingers. “You’re such a liar,” I said pushing his shoulder. “I don’t know what you mean,” he said shrugging with a small smile. “Daisuke I truly am sorry for not remembering you or the others until tonight.” Daisuke waved me off. I wonder why I can’t remember any of them. They all had a familiar aura around them, but I couldn’t remember from where or why. I thought allowing my face to scrunch up in confusion before shaking my head and focusing back on Dai. “I should head out we have school in the morning and I have to walk the princess to school.” He said with a wink as he got up from my bed. “Oh, I’m a princess now? I thought I was still a bitch.” I said and he stumbled a little before regaining his composure and turning around as I began eating once more. “I’m sorry.” I choked on my food yet again at the two words that came out of his mouth “For calling you a b***h when we bumped into each other. I was already pissed and that kinda tripped me off but still, I shouldn’t have called you a b***h. You don’t have to say anything I just wanted to apologize.” He said sheepishly I swallowed my food as I looked at him. “I accept your apology now go home and get some rest Powdered Doughnut.” I said with a little smile as I got up. He returned it before walking out of my room with me following right behind him. As we reached the door I blurted out a thank you and he grew confused. “What?” “Thank you. You won’t understand why I’m saying thank you but I’m saying it. Seeing you in the morning.” I said as he left my house. I close the door and rush upstairs to my room. Time to finish my assignment. I thought with a sigh as I cleaned up my bed and finished my assignment for Humanities. “I’ve lived in this town since I was born, I just happened to move a lot, but this is where I grew up. I grew up with the summer festivals, music fairs, learning how Mr. Halle makes his apple cider doughnuts. I was even here when they fixed this bridge. Sunny Hill is my home. I’ve been away for so long that there’s been plenty of changes and I’ve forgotten some things, but the one thing I’ll never forget is my love for Sunny Hill. I’ll always remember and feel that, no matter how far I go. Sunny Hill will forever and always be my home.” I concluded my little poem in front of the class and Honey was the first to jump up from his seat to cheer for me and soon the rest of the class followed. I walked to my seat next to Honey and we started talking as other people started presenting. “Honey it’s rude to talk while other people are performing, hold on.” “But a Powdered Doughnut told me you have a surprise for me and the others.” Honey pouted as I finally looked at him and his eyes were shining and I sighed sticking out my hand, "What can't remember the handshake either?" I asked jokingly. He looked confused until it clicked, “You remember?” I nodded and he squealed in excitement, hugging me and Hailey shushed Honey as the student in front of us carried on speaking. “This is amazing! We didn’t think you would ever remember us.” “You guys wouldn’t have said anything?” “We would’ve, we just woulda had to find some evidence or something.” That’s when I remember my necklace. “Like the avocado pit, you carved?” “Yea like the avocado pit- wait huh?” Honey cut himself off and asked looking at me. “Remember your little emo/goth phase? Yea you carved avocado pits and would hand them out to people you liked.” I said remembering Honey randomly carving pits and handing them out. “Please don’t remind me of that.” Honey groaned into my neck and I chuckled reaching under my periwinkle blue off-the-shoulder sweater and I pulled out the pit and Honey’s face burned red, “I wish you were like other people and planted it or something, cus this is f*****g embarrassing.” I pulled Honey’s face out from my neck as he mumbled. “Well it’s a fantastic thing that I’m not like other people, cus this is the cutest thing ever I said.” Giving his exposed cheek a kiss before getting up and walking toward the door, “Come one Honey!” I shouted at him making his already red face explode further. “What’s wrong with Bee?” Daisuke asked coming behind me with Ezra and Ezra looked at Dai then at me. “Wish I could tell ya Lightning.” I said with a little shrug then I felt myself being lifted over the ground. “YOU REMEMBER!” Ezra shouted while swinging me around. “Slow down Thunder Clap her memory of us is still coming back slowly to her isn’t that right Princess?” Dai asked as Ezra put me down so I could answer. I nodded fixing my glasses so I could see the two of them better. Yes, I have glasses, I just choose to wear contacts, I was too lazy to do my hair or anything so here I am, “Daisuke’s right. Literally, a whole section from my middle and elementary school memories is gone, but when you guys say certain words or act a certain way it helps me remember. I’m getting better though, I just reminded Honey about his avocado carving stage.” I stifle a laugh at his groan in the classroom. I'm determined to regain those memories, no matter what, and because I'm so determined, I might've signed some paperwork to meet up with a special counselor. I shake my head as I focus back on the conversation. “Well if he wants to suffer in his own embarrassment I say let him. Tsubaki and I need to eat.” Dai said grabbing my wrist. “You mean Asteria and I need to eat. Come on beautiful let’s go eat together.” Ezra said yanking Dai by his white hair making him fall. Ezra fell face first as a textbook hit the back of his head. “The Titaness is my buddy go f**k yourselves.” Honey said from the doorway before running towards me and grabbing my hand as we ran from our two friends on the floor. A new memory popped into my mind as Honey laughed and ran away with the two of them shouting behind us, the same thing happened on the last day of school. Honey looked back to me as we ran away from the two maniacs behind us and I threw him a big smile, It’s good to be home.
